Armada vs Hbox was hands down the most hype set I've ever seen.
smashladder chat, twitch chat, etc were all like RIP tourney over Armada will beat hbox in a boring set, then it became the most hype set of top 8
Definitely hyped me up, even though I don't usually watch Melee.
Hungrybox was incredible.
I feel he definitely rewatched his game last year and decided to push his aerial combos a lot harder

I'm not the smartest in smash because I havent played it since being a kid but why do people even discredit him for using jigg? If the character is that strong shouldn't other pros be picking it up also? If anything it credits his skill for being able to play a character that no one else can to that point

Yesterday was the first time in my life that I was hyped AF for a puff, lol I still can't believe It.
Hbox played perfectly, he uses all the advantages and covers all the weaknesses of puff, and also he wasn't camping or jumpin in the ledge like past year, he played offensively, with a genius defense at the same time.
He made it, he win like a god.
While I don't disagree, it's not like Hungrybox won the matchup entirely on his own. There were multiple occasions where Armada could've easily closed the set but failed to capitalize. Clutchbox is clutchbox though.

That singular side b offstage ended up costing him the tourney. Which is porbably one of the reasons he was so devastated. Still good shit to hbox, not discrediting him.
I know, sometimes I get scared, fighting the puff lord. But I think eventually Armada just accepted 666XX and it actually helped him play better near the end (also hbox missed some obv punishes so I'm like 'eh')

What's funny about this is that his path to this was really straightforward. He went to college and got a job as a normal person would, while still playing this game and getting top spots. Then he got a coach to guide him the rest of the way, like any sports team. It's so... Traditional. Goes to show there's a reason why there's been a coach for sports for this long. And it won't change even in the esports scene.

He is definitely amazing, but honestly puff doesn't require as many hours of practice as other top tiers so he can probably manage a full time job.
ShortBusGangster Yea, but still winning grand finals at EVO while working 40 hours a week and still having the power to take on both mango and armada, well, it shows that he is the only one that can do that. Plus he mastered Puff a long time ago, so the only thing I'm impressed about is how he wasn't worn out during the tournament. He showed minimal mistakes out of everyone after working his (probably) 5-day job duties! If I were en engineer, there would be no way in high hell I could accomplish what he just did if I had his level of skill.
Not to mention he has a wife too (I think)

I thought the same, Hbox hugged Armada last Evo when he lost. But Armada just felt too crushed after losing I assume.
Armada looked way too salty/broken to have the energy to do that. There were hugs the past two evos before this though.
Hbox could probably tell Armada was really upset and didn't want to seem patronizing or whatever. I'm sure they're cool IRL, it's just that high-level competition like that gets really intense emotionally.

Man, watching this again just made me happy. After the gut wrenching tension of that whole set yesterday, Hbox deserved that win. He played so out of his mind amazing, and got one of the best and most important clutches in his tournament career to reset the bracket. Hbox has always been my favorite smasher, and to see him win this tournament gets me almost as emotional as it got him. Well made video GR, made this moment even better.

Hungrybox wasn't crying because he won EVO, he was crying because now he has to run a 1000 people picnic and Chipotle is on him.
The most beautiful thing about Hbox, is how grateful and humble he is. I don't think I've ever seen a player so ecstatic to win, nor as graceful in defeat. I don't always enjoy Hbox's matches, because I lack the patience to properly enjoy the tension of his slower sets, but if there's a single person that exemplifies just how much heart goes into playing a game like Melee, it's Hbox every day and every time. Every time he wins, you feel it.
Good on you, Hbox. The race for the 3vo begins.

One of the best sets of all time, this grand finals. Crazy comebacks on both sides and went all the way to game 10. Both played so well but hbox is the master of clutch and found the openings when he needed them most, every time. What a time to be a melee fan.

Say what you want, but I love Hungrybox, and knowing how much he wanted and deserved this win, made me actually tear up when he won. The chills during those sets were insane. This video brings them back. His face is priceless after each win. It doesn't get more genuine than that.

There's a reason why you don't quit, Hungrybox has shown this time and time again. Nothing feels better than watching a guy go through hell, not quitting and coming out on top. This is one of my favorite moments in Sports as a whole. I put this up there, in my personal book, with Darren Elkins vs Mirsad Bektic, this man was getting his ass kicked for three rounds and he came out on top he didn't give up even though his face looked so beaten. Apply these lessons and turn it into motivation whether it be an MMA fight, a melee tournament or generally in your life.
He had the want to just walk away, but he didn't and he clutched out the tournament. This was the biggest stage melee had in the last time we would see a game on this scale, walking away with the W must have been a dream come true for him.
I'm glad I was able to go to EVO and take a picture with HungryBox. One of the nicest and humblest people I have met in the community of smash bros melee. Mewtwoking ignored me but he was just being lol m2k.
Hbox is the god damn best, man. Infinitely fun to watch, and I've always loved players who wear their hearts on their sleeves.

As a Puff main and HBox fan for as long as I've been watching Smash, I have not cried harder in happiness for anyone than I was when HBox won. He is now, hands down, the best Melee player in the world, and he deserves it. Taking such an underrated character and putting her to the test the best way anyone can! GO HUNGRYBOX!!

HBox has always been my favorite Smash player. He is incredibly skilled and it made me really happy to see him win something as big as Evo. Been supporting him for a long time. Last year he had a great run but this year was incredible. He brought himself all the way from losers and won the tournament. Last year people even booed him off the stage but look at him now. Incredible.

You have to admire this man at least in some capacity. He is really the only one of his kind. He more than likely the only Puff that knows all the tech and has no other Puff to share tech with or is even paralleled with his. He FINALLY got the win he deserves. Although he already was, he has now more than stapled his way into SSBM history. BOTG's was big but Evo is where everyone wants to win. Good job, Hungrybox and congratulations.

Honestly, even though some people rip on or joke about hbox crying and popping off, I love it. I love his drive and passion for the game, and the emotions it sparks in him. Damn proud of him for taking evo, and it's looking like he's the best in the world at this point.
