Emily, i purchased the Protools template sometime ago and i noticed it was set to 96 KHz. Do you use to mix in 96khz? Is it worth to work at a higher sample rate?
Hi there, thanks for picking that the template up. There are no audio files on the template, so the sample rate doesn't really matter. It won't effect whatever your recorded audio is. When importing the template session data you can always convert it to the sample rate you want.
Sometimes some sound interfaces work better at 96kHz (i.e. you might prefer how they sound when mixing at that sample rate). There's also an advantage of higher sample rates when you use plugins that add saturation, at 96kHz they require less or no oversampling to prevent aliasing artifacts. You will also have less latency. But you sould files will be twice as large and use more storage space, and running at 96kHz will be a bit more taxing on your CPU. In any case, there's no general rule: try your self and see what fits better to your ears and workflow.
@@sebguyader Yeah i've been mixing in 88khz for a while, even projects recorded at 48 khz i convert it to 88 to mix, sounds better but lots of enginners i know say the gain in audio is imperceptible but there is a gain in quality for sure. Thank you for you reply.
