One of the best battles I've ever seen. When people ask my why I love GT racing this video is what I will show them. Thanks for reposting this classic!
I'm going to throw it out there: GT racing is the absolute best that motorsport could provide (maybe rallying could match it, but nothing else). Cars that actually LOOK like real cars (manufacturers especially love this), they're more diverse than open-wheelers and prototypes could ever hope for, and the racing is just superb - yes, the latter two are down to BoP for the most parts, but still. It's a shame that GT1 and GT2 (and subsequently GTE) died out, but GT3 still provides all the above to this day, and it's looking stronger than any other previous categories ever. One downside to this is that the series themselves are becoming uniform (the most painful example is DTM), so some thoughts should be given on how to make them unique again.
I don’t necessarily disagree with rules. There’s a limit and obvious preferential interference from one manufacturer to the next. That’s loser shit, nobody cares about that. I myself personally don’t want to see a GT vehicle that could never be driven on the street. So, low modification for one of the GT divisions is fine. Like I said, people crave hyper realism in regards to what’s possible in their own life. That causes fire. I thought that was the whole point…for at least one of the classes.

What's really sad is that we're still playing this race! Seriously, is this the only good competition in the history of the sport? With the new cars, it's possible.
this is a story of bad officiating. if the rules had been enforced, this wouldn't have happened. the ending would have been pretty mundane. unfortunately, most of racing is one or two stand out competitors doing an excellent job and the rest getting an advantage through things like BOP. this was the era when corvette racing was dominating GT everywhere they went. the officials did the same to audi in the same series which is why audi left the ALMS. they were constantly penalized for excellence and winning. in the end, both teams, corvette racing in GT1/GT2 and audi in LMP1 were left without any real competition except the ALMS administration and officiating. the same thing happened with the first few years of dpi in IMSA to the cadillac teams. the same thing happened in IMSA GT in the same period with porsche, bmw, and corvette in turn. they got unfairly BOP'd down. ALMS and IMSA were picking the winners and losers. i still enjoy watching IMSA every now and then, but now i can see when they're choosing the winners and losers. i still miss "not hearing" audi at the ALMS races.
jmag; apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it? That bump into the final turn was uncalled for. That's dirty pool. I'd say he took the ride whose ticket he bought at the last apex.

Hamilton's fault
The bump and run was heavy handed, but it was valid. What was certainly not valid was sending Jan to the hospital.
Que malisimo piloto es el del corvette al final cabo su propia tumba, no tuvo la paciencia para lograr un buen rebase en todas esas vueltas y se notaba muy agresivo en su manera de conducir, lastima por el coche.

1000% vette fault. Can't drive, don't race.
