- The line we're looking at in this video is actually the first railway of the Rhaetian railways, which was proposed and initiated by a Dutch hotel owner in Davos in order to bring more tourists into the region. It was opened to service in 1890 after a relatively short construction time and fully electrified by 1921.
Although this is Paolo's 31st video, we have never seen the line Davos - Klosters in this direction. He didn't drive on this line often, so he had to film it when he did and in this instance the weather was average. Die Strecke ist mittlerweile ja hervorragend ausgebaut!
Mehrere Bahnhöfe sind noch im Umbau und es wird immer wieder von einem Tunnel zwischen Klosters und Davos. Bis dann bin ich aber pensioniert.

Some years ago, I spent a week in Davos for skiing. As the ski pass could be used for local travels on this railway line, we used it for a few pleasant rides in the afternoon as we skied in the morning only.

Wieder ein prima Video, vielen Dank! Das weckt Erinnerungen, vor ein paar Wochen bin ich im Urlaub die Strecke in die andere Richtung mitgefahren (und dann von Davos weiter nach Filisur im historischen Zug mit dem RhB-Krokodil). Immer wieder schön, das Ganze auch nochmal aus der Lokführer-Perspektive von zu Hause aus erleben zu können, das verkürzt die Wartezeit bis zum nächsten Urlaub 🙂

Many thanks! Actually the rhaetian railway has to renewe many stations for wheel chair use and between Landquart-Davos the bigger stations need to have place for 4 EMU's (300m).

I wonder what happened before the Klosters & Kublis tunnels were built - seem to have been built a long time after the rest of the infrastructure on the line ?
The Küblisertunnel just replaced the old one. Up to 1930 the trains had to change direction in Klosters Platz.

That's the incline in thousand o/oo. Max in this line is 4.5% or 45 o/oo.

Nice to see scenic beauty of various places of other countries. I feel Assam a North eastern state in India is much scenic in natural beauty. Only thing is due to infrastructure backwardness people are deprived from enjoying the beauty of the places here. After visiting Switzerland people should visit Assam(India) once in lifetime. Cleanliness of western countries attracts us very much.

I'm assuming that this line has undergone several modifications over the last century? I notice a wide range of construction dates on the viaducts and tunnels ranging from between 1889 and the late 2000s.
Thanks! You are right! Thers had been quite a lot of modifications and some are still under construction. New stations for Grüsch, Schiers, Klosters Dorf and many others.
