Teach Your Kids to Tie Shoes Without Tears!

- After trying to teach my 6 year old to tie with the old bunny ears or rabbit going around the bush & into the hole methods to only end up with tears & frustration, I finally worked through the whole process backwards to come up with this. Here's how to teach your kids to tie the easy way. It only took him 2 minutes (& no tears)!!
It took me till kid #5 to learn this - and the other 4 kids have now learned this way.

My daughter just broke down every time we tried to learn to tie shoes. Tried three different ways with her and nothing worked. She is now 7 and I said, “You have to learn this. Soon your shoes will be laces only. Plus you will be able to tie ribbons and make bows when you want to.” We came across this and she got it the first time! She was so proud and ran downstairs to show dad. She is already faster on her fifth go, but we will keep practicing. Thanks for saving our sanity.
My grandson cried every time he tried to tie his laces. As soon as he watched this video he got it straight away. He is now practicing and gets it right every time. Thank you for showing this technique.

I even bought a "how to tie your shoe laces, book" that did nothing but cause more frustration. I will definitely recommend this video to anyone trying to teach their little ones how to tie shoe laces.
Thank you!🙏🏼 I'm trying to teach my 5 yr old now is what brought me to look this subject up, glad i did. The bunny ears wasn't working but I think this way is more comfortable for the young ones to develop the sequence with their hands.

Unless I'm missing something, these laces are impossible to open without creating a double knot, which my kid definitely can't open. So this method is only useful is he going to have his shoes on all day. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong if these are supposed to open easily.
Just one of the strings can be pulled and it undoes it to the second step and then pull out the loose knot like step 2. You can tell when you start to pull the wrong end that it will end up around a string, the other one pulls out inside a loop and not around a loop therefore undoing it. It also depends which side you tie from left or right which string end to pull to untie.

I don't know if you read these comments, but I want to send you thanks from both my Mother and I.
When I was younger, I never had a chance to learn because I grew up with velcro and sandals, and by the time we started, something very tragic happened in our lives. I also have ADHD which makes it harder fo concentrate, and I think I may have dysphraxia from it as well, but it's not an excuse to do it.
It may seem weird because I am 21 years old, but if I could do it eventually with all the stuff going on in my life, so can you! This is gonna help with my job for sure. Thank you!

Every video Ive watched is of the same 2 methods Which we have tried, and failed at with lots of tears. So excited to try this! Thank you for thinking outside of the box.
This is great, but what happens when you try to untie them? If you pull the end the "conventional" way to untie you get a big, tight, knot.

It works as long as my kids pulls by the bottom of the ears if that makes sense. My kid gots it now and it’s tight not loose thanks
I can’t do this it’s so hard if you want to tie your shoes for the first time I wouldn’t suggest this but if it works for you good luck

It's a shame to say this, but I actually like it when someone can't tie their shoes. I'd sit next to them and watch them get frustrated. I've seen adults who can't tie their shoes as well. Sometimes I'd offer to tie their shoes.

I was showing this to my grandsons and it seems easier, but when you want to take the shoes off, you pull the strings to undo the bow, I got a horrible know multiple times.
