You speak true, brother, about how we have let this marvelous heritage of our national parks fall into disrepair. I pray this sad state of affairs turns around. It's great that you're turning a spotlight on the treasures we have in our parks and it's always been wonderful and encouraging to see your family enjoying it together. The America's Parks videos are great! I've visited some places because of what I've seen on your channel. God bless you and yours brother and keep them coming!
Let it crumble… it keeps people out and there’s no need to build anything new out there. If they did it’s just going to draw more people and mess, not to mention they’ll tear up a bunch of stuff to build something. We definitely do need a similar program to salvage and maintain the critical infrastructure that we all need, which is crumbling so fast we won’t be able to keep up with it soon. It’s been hampering Americans for a couple generations now, which is, in part, why things are clearly going downhill no matter who you ask.
Fantastic video! Now you have revealed one of the best kept secrets in Kentucky. Red River Gorge and Daniel Boone Forest is an adventure paradise with its cliffs, arches, waterfalls, and natural beauty. Rock Bridge is a favorite of mine.
I saw you yesterday on katahdin! I'm a pretty shy person so I didn't stop or anything, but I heard you say your youtube channel, and well here I am. Waiting for a video to come out about it!
Fantastic! That first arch is amazing 🤩. Shane’s early and life-long training in water plunging sure has paid off! I even noticed in Part 1 that he beat you to the plunge 😊. Beautiful and fun video…thanks for such consistent fun, knowledge, and beauty. Take care always.
Nice job on this video, as always. We appreciated not only the beautiful scenery, the information, and seeing Julie and Shane join you, but also your words about the parks system. We need to do a better job of caretaking the land that God has entrusted to us. Thanks for bringing us along on another America's Parks adventure!
You're absolutely right we do need to start investing more money and resources into our beautiful parks and landscapes! That was a really nice Arch and that was cool that you could go behind a little waterfall! Thanks for sharing!
I never knew Kentucky would be a place to go see arches! With how crowded Arches NP in Utah is getting anymore, places like these are great to have to get away from the crowds and enjoy some beautiful creation.
I have been visiting RRG since 1985; backpacking with my husband, then camping and hiking with the kids and still visiting 3 or 4 times a year to hike and vacation. The area has changed little since the 80's with limited commercial development and remains wild and the most unique geological area east of the Mississippi. RRG is a wonderful place to visit in the winter when you can hike alone and better see the rock formations without foliage. If you are lucky enough to experience it in the snow, it is just magical! Thank you for this and all your videos. Well done and most enjoyable!
Well I really appreciate you showing us the natural side of Kentucky! I never would have thought they had such awesome rock arches there! That waterfall you guys were playing in was beautiful! Also also that underground kayak tour looks pretty amazing as well. Definitely time will spend for you and your family! Thanks for sharing Randy!
Some great locations here to explore. I bet that waterfall you sat under was really refreshing and fun. The bridges you visited were wonderful to see. Best though was the underground kayaking. Amazing.
Randy, this was beautiful, as are so many of your excursions, whether in national parks, forests, monuments, or some other classification, and you hit the nail on the head re. your observation that things have deteriorated since I was a kid in the 50s and '60s--they need some definite sprucing up all across the country. I found in a google search just now that the greatest gen. was the people of the first 25 years or so of the 20th. Century, followed by the silent generation of the next 20 years or so, ending with the boomers (my generation of 1946--'64. So, John Walton was of the first group, and John Boy was of the latter, with me coming in during the #3 years.
Hahaha I love the fake leg on your underground hiking tour, lol. Wonder how many people notice that. What a really cool experience. How many places can you kayak underground!?! Wow! Being able to get on the arch is something you don't see much - like you said!
This is sort of in my back door here in TN. You do an amazing job at these videos, the content, editing and the narrative! Been a subscriber for a good while, always look forward to the next place you all go! Come to TN, we have some beautiful areas to explore, Fall Creek Falls, Big South Fork, Rock Island, Burgiss Falls, Land between the Lakes, etc!
Thanks Randy and Julie for sharing. Seems as though Kentucky is underappreciated compared to Tennessee and North Carolina. Kentucky is a very beautiful state. Also looks to be much less crowded. Red River Gorge is definitely on our list.
that slide looked a little bumpy but fun / rock bridge is of course spectacular and wow what a kayak ride underground! sky bridge was another great hike, what a view! ok i have dealt with 3 sidewinders this year, had to kill one // better to avoid rattlers entirely. even the little ones are terrifying and can cause you a lot of problems.... hahaha... great video thanks for sharing
If you ever go back to the Gorge in the future, I highly recommend stopping to get a pizza at Miguel’s Pizza, over on the Natural Bridge rd side of the park. Heaven on earth is surely a cold Ale8 and a pizza from Miguel’s after a long weekend of hiking/climbing at the Red.
Yes, all our RRG hikes over the three days would be doable for most people. Some slight elevation, nothing significant. Can't recall any exposed sections and the trails were short to moderate in length. Popular trails with people and hard to get lost.
Just so you know, you’re supposed to yield to traffic going uphill when you’re on a road that’s too narrow. It’s safer for you to back up while going uphill than for him to back up downhill.
Kayaking in an underground mine, that is pretty cool! Another beauty of God's wonderful creation!
Thanks so much, Tyler!

Hey, that's really cool! Not sure when I'll upload that one - but believe I got some great footage. Hope you'll enjoy the memories!
My family and I love the Red River Gorge area. We are going back for the 2nd time this year in a few weeks.
Fantastic! That first arch is amazing 🤩. Shane’s early and life-long training in water plunging sure has paid off! I even noticed in Part 1 that he beat you to the plunge 😊. Beautiful and fun video…thanks for such consistent fun, knowledge, and beauty. Take care always.

Thanks so much, Nick! KY was a blast!

Yeah, heard the most arches east of the Mississippi. News for me too!
Thank you Randy, Julie and Shane. I loved everything about this wonderful adventure. God made such an amazingly beautiful planet... Robin 🙂
So true, Robin! Glad you enjoyed the video, dear brother!
We enjoyed my birthday trip to Red River Gorge! Even though I’ve been many times, Sky Bridge is one of my favorites! Thanks for sharing !
What a great way to celebrate your birthday! Thanks for the kind words, Julie!
I have lived 15 min from the gorge my entire life. my most favorite place to go any time of year.
We really had a wonderful time in RRG last summer! You were blessed to glow up in this special area, Clint!
What a beautiful place!! Sliding down that waterfall looks like so much fun!
So many good summer memories! Enjoy your week, Debra!
This is are the real blessings, enjoying beautiful places with the family.
Right on, my friend! Perfectly stated!
Beautiful adventure. Love the natural bridge. I agree we need to di more for our country. Amen 👍
Right on, Darlene! Enjoy your week!

Thanks, Eric! Totally surprised at the natural beauty of the state!
We were just in the Red Gorge area in May. So beautiful. We hiked to 11 arches. This area is a hidden east coast gem for sure.
So true, Carol! Glad you had a nice time there... 11 arches, very impressive!
Some great locations here to explore. I bet that waterfall you sat under was really refreshing and fun. The bridges you visited were wonderful to see. Best though was the underground kayaking. Amazing.
Thanks, my friend! Hope to release one more video from this trip. Really impressed with KY!
I don't think you remember this but I've actually met you before we were hiking in New Mexico finding the hot springs together
Oh yeah, will always remember that day! It was the last day of our NM trip. Great memories!
I watch your video all the time since the day I met you guys
@@Madisontoler Wonderful to hear!
Such amazing arches. I thought arches were only out west. Lots of fun finds, beautiful hikes.
We were so surprised at the beauty of KY! Great trip!

Well said, Bob! I'm January 8, 1965 - so I humbly classify myself at the tail end of the Boomers.
@@AmericasParks , now I understand why you look and act younger than me. You are younger!! : )))
@@jimgreen5788 lol! :)
I have a new arch to checkout Thanks guys
Glad i found you'll
Great to hear that, Tom!
What a cool cave, who knew the trout could get that big! I liked that you went on top of the arch too, usually you can’t do that. Bring on part 3!
Right on, Kayla! Hope you have a blessed week!

Thanks so much, Gary! Very encouraging. Need to explore Tennessee... made a note of your suggestions!
🐍, interesting, good stuff MrRandy n family.
Thanks much, Mark! Enjoy your week!

True words, Steve! Went there on advice from another. Like you said, surprised by its often unspoken beauty!
I’m in aww about the underground kayaking, wow. Incredible as always, Randy !
Much appreciated, Dawn! It was a lot of hiking so I threw the kayaking in to give Shane something to look forward to!

Yeah, I can imagine how many encounters you must have with venomous snakes on your particular excursions! Be safe, my friend!
A kayak cave tour is something I need to do. This is amazing. Unsure about looking for snakes. Naw. They are cool in the distance or out of site.
haha with the snakes! Hope you guys are doing well! Yeah, that was a fun tour. Probably wouldn't go back, but worth the one-time experience.
Nice area. Greetings from Switzerland, Benjamin
Hey Benjamin! Thanks for watching and greetings back from the US!
Excellent job. I’m going next week. Thanks for the tips. What do you carry in your back pack?
Thanks and hope you have/are having a great trip! Nothing special in the packs - just plenty of water, sunscreen, and some snacks.
Thanks for the recommendation - made a note!
lol... just noticed you're not the first one to make that recommendation!
We saw a copperhead on the rock bridge trail just a week or two after you were there. Almost stepped on him!
That's what I've heard... they really camouflage well into the surroundings. Venomous, but thankfully not too aggressive. Trust you had a nice time!
@@AmericasParks we had a great time for our little mini trip. We did the via Ferrata as well.
You said in the video that you would share a link to the shirt you’re wearing in the description and I can’t find that link. Can you share? Thanks!
Yeah, put his YT channel in the description to the first RRG video, but can seem to locate his merch anymore. sorry!
Thanks for the video! Would an inexperienced climber be ok to climb this gorge?
Yes, all our RRG hikes over the three days would be doable for most people. Some slight elevation, nothing significant. Can't recall any exposed sections and the trails were short to moderate in length. Popular trails with people and hard to get lost.
All of that rock is from massive ancient petrified trees and their stumps. Arches are formed from rotted out knot holes in the wood.
Awesome video 😍
Nice to know you, I'm a new friend 🙏🏻☺
Welcome to the channel! Great to have you along!
Just so you know, you’re supposed to yield to traffic going uphill when you’re on a road that’s too narrow. It’s safer for you to back up while going uphill than for him to back up downhill.
Thanks and kind of assumed that. From what I can recall, he just started backing up out of an act of kindness before we could even respond.
I sent you a FB message on your titling. Fun vid,, aside.
Really appreciated the message, Marty! Take care!
