I loved the rant xD. This event was clearly made for people who do not know anything of the lore and are just in for the flashy looks and action scenes, even I ( and I am nowhere near your level of knowledge of the lore) felt confused watching these cinematics, the ending was so anticlimactic and made 0 sense ....
Can you please add that how can every sentinel talk the same language? They also created languages for each region but in this event everyone just understood what is told. Also akshan and his weapon's existance removed death from the runeterra which was very important

(Then ONE MONTH later they asked which one of five dusty champions including voli should get a rework the following year)
Is no one talking about how they assassinated Viegos potential? My boy was conquering kingdoms and dominating the most powerful beings on Runeterra and then just went out like a ghoul - no character arch, no vindication, no remorse, no reverting back, no awesome fight scene... They literally went "and then he loses" he started out so multi dimensional and I can't believe what they did to what could have been such a good villain/antagonist... I just hate it here RIP Viego see you in 5 years when you come back for an event in the MMO....
Riot should have spent way more time exploring his potential and building him up as a threat. They could have broken this event down into way smaller chunks as he gradually builds enough power to spread Black Mist over the whole of Runeterra, rather than throwing Vex into the mix as an excuse to power him up. It's literally stated in the lore that the Mist keeps spreading further and further -- why couldn't they just stick to this more gradual approach? It would've given the story room to breathe and actually build some tension, rather than the repetitive turn-up-and-lose-the-fetter routine that they established.

I kinda liked Spirit Blossom more, the transition between events was good, Ahri and Yasuo going to Bildgewater to fight Viego... its kinda disappointing how this event turned out, as it was hyped so much for a long time

You have every right to feel the way you do, you have immersed yourself in the lore and you loved it and now riot is taking that away just because they want more cha ching.
this event really feels like it was just guided by some managers who only looked at skin sales for popular champions with no regard to the actual lore other employees of Rito have build for the last few years
I hope that Riot actually acknowledges where they messed up and what they've learned for future events. I got invested in the lore over 7 years ago, especially SI as Thresh and Luc were my mains. Can't believe I returned to the game for this.
I had some hope, I truly though I would see Kalista, (wish very hard to see Ledros, but always knew it wouldn't happen) Hacarim should be here, not to mention Yorick... I'm very sad

I tried to calm down and tried to imagine a world where Yorick, Maokai, all the other Sentinels of Light that didn't show up in the video etc didn't exist, then this video becomes more enjoyable. I'm pretty sure it says somewhere that the Absolver revives their "most recent victim(s)." So agreed, Viego definitely did not qualify as Isolde's most recent victim.
It's sad to see characters like Yorick, Kalista, and Hecarim become background characters of their own stories. Why did riot make Vladimir Viego's uncle? What was the reason of connecting any of these characters to the ruined king if this was the outcome? It just pains me to see the lore go to waste. But, I guess the lore means nothing to them.

So now i'm curious how they gonna handle the aftermath of the ruination, because surely people got traumatised from this all over the world and certainly some very powerfull Beings gonna be blamed for being weak to it.
Tbh my joy comes from lore but also enjoying champs and skins in game. I love the visuals, lines and the actual gameplay. So im on both sides of the coin.
I saw someone comment on facebook how Viego got revived as a normal man when Akshan killed Isolde because when Gwen trapped him, he no longer had that Ruined crown thing and his eyes didnt have the weird look and instead looked normal and the thing on his chest wasn't there anymore. Idk but that was the person's theory
We still have the New champion come, may she release him again and continue the Ruination, because she want this world Ruination like you like Tenebrix ( so do I)
Riot needs to keep stan, money making events to non canon fantasy skin lines. Lore events should be dedicated to celebrating each champions unique story and advancing them. I dont want to see Sentinel Diana in a shadow isles based event.
I cared so much about the story of Spirit blossom. I cared about Yasuo for the first time ever because of the yone story and cinematic. I loved trying to woo Ahri and talk crap to Cassy, and the fun interactions with Lily. FFS now we have a actual cannon story event and this crap happens. Its very disappointing.
Hecarim was viegos general of the iron order and he was missing Kalista was the one who found the isles and got killed by heca and yet she is not here The one survivor of the ruination whose whole purpose is to bring down viego and has been there for 1000 years is an Easter egg character
I feel like what they could have atleast done, is to have the main characters, thats have their soul purpose to defeat viego, to fight him. Yoric, Maokai, kalista, so on, to be there. Sure, have the sentinals there to help with the fight. Maybe think again about who to make a sentinal xd Maokai and the others doesnt need to have a new shiny look to be a part of this.
Feels like Vlad and Kalista being related to Viego is kinda a pointless lore bit if they’re literally not going to have anything to do with the event at all. I feel like this isnt the end. I feel like to everyone in the shadow isles, viego was the pawn. Now Thresh is the true bad guy, n thats when we will see yorick in action with karthus n all of the other people who truly have evil intentions. Hopefully it all ends with Mordekaiser coming back n truly starts killing everything.

Funny story, the event is supposed to be right after the ruined king game but since rito wanted to make money and rush things it makes no sense without the context we could get from the ruined king game that would happen prior

I'm in between playing Shadow isle characters that are forgotten for the rest of my life to spit on Riot's face or completely deleting the game to never return.
I was curious as to why NONE of the Shadow Isles characters were apart of it. Hecarim? Thresh?! Kalista? Elise? Karthus? Yorick?! You had Gwen, which ya know.. They added her cause of flavor of the months legends & same deal with Akshan. But he's not even apart of the Shadow Isles. I'm primarily surprised that Thresh at least wasn't in it, considering it all started with Lucian & Thresh in regards to the cinematics anyway.
24:40 Absolver only revives people that died recently. Thats why he cannot revive Shadya anymore, she has been dead for a while now. Viego was dead for a 1000 years, so no, killing Isolde with absolver will not revive him.
I hope riot fully addresses this event. We deserve some sort of explanation for this. I'm done with the lies, excuses, and backpedaling, I just want them to be truthful. However, I won't be surprised if they don't say anything at all. Don't do large lore events if you don't respect your own characters and the world that you have built up for years. If you don't care for your own lore and characters, then just be honest. Learn to put the lore/characters first and skins second in a lore event. But, until then, I practically lost all trust in riot with the lore right now. I hope this will be a learning experience for them, but that all depends if they actually care or not.
I don't think I'll have much hope for future lore events if they don't acknowledge where they went wrong on this one. All they need to be is accountable to their mistakes and tell us how they'll do better next time. Sadly - even though I'm sure the main issue is with upper management - I suspect the teams/writers will be expected to take all the blame. Or we'll simply be told that lore events don't work because people aren't interested, for some strange reason! 🙄

I coudn't agree more with you. Since this "new champions will be human because china likes it" begin, I knew it was getting worse from there. Especially with Tencent having more to do with the new decisions. 100% desapointed with Riot. As you said, the best thing in League isn't the game, is the lore. They are really selling themselves out, putting profit over quality.

@Tesla-Effect there's small lore going around and they said that ep3 act 2 will deliver more lore in the Valorant universe. i agree that what happened to LoL may as well happen to Valorant in the future, but one can hope that is not the case.

Tbh my joy comes from lore but also enjoying champs and skins in game. I love the visuals, lines and the actual gameplay. So im on both sides of the coin.
I saw someone comment on facebook how Viego got revived as a normal man when Akshan killed Isolde because when Gwen trapped him, he no longer had that Ruined crown thing and his eyes didnt have the weird look and instead looked normal and the thing on his chest wasn't there anymore. Idk but that was the person's theory
We still have the New champion come, may she release him again and continue the Ruination, because she want this world Ruination like you like Tenebrix ( so do I)
Riot needs to keep stan, money making events to non canon fantasy skin lines. Lore events should be dedicated to celebrating each champions unique story and advancing them. I dont want to see Sentinel Diana in a shadow isles based event.

I cared so much about the story of Spirit blossom. I cared about Yasuo for the first time ever because of the yone story and cinematic. I loved trying to woo Ahri and talk crap to Cassy, and the fun interactions with Lily. FFS now we have a actual cannon story event and this crap happens. Its very disappointing.

I feel like what they could have atleast done, is to have the main characters, thats have their soul purpose to defeat viego, to fight him. Yoric, Maokai, kalista, so on, to be there. Sure, have the sentinals there to help with the fight. Maybe think again about who to make a sentinal xd Maokai and the others doesnt need to have a new shiny look to be a part of this.
Feels like Vlad and Kalista being related to Viego is kinda a pointless lore bit if they’re literally not going to have anything to do with the event at all.

Now Thresh is the true bad guy, n thats when we will see yorick in action with karthus n all of the other people who truly have evil intentions. Hopefully it all ends with Mordekaiser coming back n truly starts killing everything.

Funny story, the event is supposed to be right after the ruined king game but since rito wanted to make money and rush things it makes no sense without the context we could get from the ruined king game that would happen prior

I was curious as to why NONE of the Shadow Isles characters were apart of it. Hecarim? Thresh?! Kalista? Elise? Karthus? Yorick?! You had Gwen, which ya know.. They added her cause of flavor of the months legends & same deal with Akshan. But he's not even apart of the Shadow Isles. I'm primarily surprised that Thresh at least wasn't in it, considering it all started with Lucian & Thresh in regards to the cinematics anyway.

24:40 Absolver only revives people that died recently. Thats why he cannot revive Shadya anymore, she has been dead for a while now. Viego was dead for a 1000 years, so no, killing Isolde with absolver will not revive him.

I hope riot fully addresses this event. We deserve some sort of explanation for this. I'm done with the lies, excuses, and backpedaling, I just want them to be truthful. However, I won't be surprised if they don't say anything at all.
Don't do large lore events if you don't respect your own characters and the world that you have built up for years. If you don't care for your own lore and characters, then just be honest. Learn to put the lore/characters first and skins second in a lore event. But, until then, I practically lost all trust in riot with the lore right now. I hope this will be a learning experience for them, but that all depends if they actually care or not.
I don't think I'll have much hope for future lore events if they don't acknowledge where they went wrong on this one. All they need to be is accountable to their mistakes and tell us how they'll do better next time.
Sadly - even though I'm sure the main issue is with upper management - I suspect the teams/writers will be expected to take all the blame. Or we'll simply be told that lore events don't work because people aren't interested, for some strange reason! 🙄

I coudn't agree more with you. Since this "new champions will be human because china likes it" begin, I knew it was getting worse from there. Especially with Tencent having more to do with the new decisions. 100% desapointed with Riot. As you said, the best thing in League isn't the game, is the lore. They are really selling themselves out, putting profit over quality.
if she's going to move on to another game i hope on of them is valorant... i really like the lore they have there. the only thing is that its also a riot game 🙃
@Tesla-Effect there's small lore going around and they said that ep3 act 2 will deliver more lore in the Valorant universe. i agree that what happened to LoL may as well happen to Valorant in the future, but one can hope that is not the case.
