Darla is actually one of my favorite villains. I don't know why, but there's something about her that makes her a unique villain. Maybe it's because she doesn't have a tragic backstory, and is just a spoiled little girl who wants to literally murder everyone.
I always hated Darla as a kid because of her hatred of animals. But now watching as an adult, it amazes me how completely terrifying she is as a villain.
I think Cozy Glow was based off Darla. But mostly the DC Villain Barbara Dohl ( Baby Doll), a fired actress who has a disease that makes her look like a toddler. You're not the only one to notice the similarities.
Darla's one of those characters where I know they're selfish, I know they're cruel to others and I know they deserve everything that happens to them, but in the moments where they act cute and innocent, they still win me over. Adorable psycho is definitely a perfect description for her.
There’s one thing I don’t understand. If Darla Dimple hates animals, how come she’s got stuffed animals with her in the theater room with all that food and drink?
If you look closely those stuffed animals are wearing the same costumes as the animals in her film. They're probably free promotional goods being given out to those people who went to see the film in theaters.
If she hates animals, why does she eat the animal crackers? Because she can easily bite/eat them (their heads off). I see it as a sadistic kind of pleasure for herself to enjoy how far she can pick at them. Manipulate and scare them too.
I've never seen this movie before, but this is the perfect representation of, "beauty is only skin-deep". Darla may be a toddler, but she's already a budding sociopath. (Sociopaths often use beauty and charm to appear innocent and likeable to the public.)
