Considering he was stabbed through the spine with damage to vital organs, yeah he would have died. It's a lot different than being clean through an area where nothing vital was affected. It's like how some people survive being shot and some don't, it depends on where they got hit. I'm so tired of this fandom at times when logic takes a back seat to having an excuse to try and complain about new SW.

It is truly sad that Bacta Treatment was discovered and released like an hour after Qui Gon's death.......apparently, they are wildly effective in treating Light Saber to the stomach injuries.
You would have to get him into a bacta tank before, you know... he dies. "stomach injuries" lol, the man got a lightsaber through his spine and aorta, severing both (this has been known for 20+ years). He literally died within a few minutes. Bacta can't bring people back from the dead, and your boy Qui Gon was super duper extra dead by the time they got him out of there.
@@Razgriz85 The only person NOT ON THE DARK SIDE that we have seen survive a lightsaber to the gut was Sabine... And that was because SHE WAS IMMEDIATELY RESCUED. But who cares about details when it's about shitting on the newer Star Wars things? Star Wars fans... not even once.
I know this is meant as a joke, but Qui-gon and Maul's stomach injuries were very different because they were done with light sabers. Maul's injury was a very fast cut, so the saber cauterized the wound but wasn't in contact long enough to do more damage to the rest of his body. Maul however took his time pulling his blade out of Qui-gon's body; earlier in the movie we saw what Qui-gon's saber did stuck inside a space-metal blast door for several seconds. In the second or two Maul took to remove his blade the heat from the blade destroyed Qui-gon's spine, internal organs, etc. We're talking a lot more heat than Anakin on fire; like thousands of degrees vs hundreds. If Jedi/Sith used metal blades Qui-gon's injury would have been much more treatable than Maul's, assuming Obi-wan got to him fast enough, but because of light sabers, Maul's is a Monty Python Flesh Wound and Qui-gon's is fatal.
I think most fans were expecting them to be much more like the original trilogy despite the fact that they were telling a completely different story in a completely different time period where things were not the same as in the originals. Now they are being seen by a new generation of fans who don't have those expectations, they are more popular.
Quite honestly with the trash they are putting out besides 1 or 2 things people watch these again and realize that this was not as bad or the negative experience they remember.
For the Original 3, Obi-Wan and Darth Vader were much older and a little more tired. They could do the fancy physical moves when younger, but when older they went with mentally dominating the opponent instead.
Who gives a fuck that lightsaber duels nowadays have actual light on people’s faces if it means they can’t clash and fight with full strength and speed. Even with all the new advances in vfx, prequel duels still look the best imo, because the choreography actually looks like a fight, or at least two flashy acrobats that are _actually_ trying to hit each other. The new shit has weird ass light touches that make it look like they are dancing. Badly.
In expanded universe Anakin did study upon how Obi-Wan defeated Darth Maul and even asked him how he did it. When Anakin became Darth Vader, in his arrogance (before the suit, mind you, it's the turn to the Dark Side which was when Vader first was born) he attempted to defeat Obi-Wan the same way he beat Maul. That's why Kenobi said "Don't try it." as he knew what his ex-padawan was gonna do. Obi-Wan did what Maul could have done if he wasn't surprised how he could leap up.
My best guess, based on the rare times I've seen it, and few times it's used in games, that it is mostly used for moving and not combat. The few times I've seen it used, it seems to require focus and obsevation. Perhaps using Force Speed isn't such a good idea straight at a lightsaber fight, and that hole too.
There was a drawback to using this power; using Force speed had a draining effect on a Force-user's energy and metabolism, and required a longer recovery period.
If he had used force speed, he would be drained of his energy and wouldn’t have enough strength to fight against Maul. It’s a very risky move unless you’ve actually mastered the force

Obi-Wan "It's over Anakin, I have the high ground". Yet it's not over for Obi-Wan when someone else has the high ground. Obi-Wan should have lost his legs at the very least there. This scene always annoyed me how easily and stupidly Darth Maul dies just watching Obi-Wan jump over him, land and strike without doing anything but turn around after he was fighting the two of them without much issues.
RIP Qui-Gon Jinn. The only person in the whole galaxy that didn't survive a lightsaber stabbing. 😅

25 years old and better than 90% of the slop that comes out today
Is crazy how even cut in half Maul survive😮
He was really beside himself
"I was apprentice to the most powerful being in the galaxy once. I was destined to be.. so much more. But I was robbed of that destiny by the Jedi.."
Maul was too skilled to get taken out so soon. Should of allowed him to be the Vader of this trilogy.
Spoiler he didn't get taken out.
Whilst "there's no part 2 for him" was actually quite a funny joke. They obviously never watched the animated series where he comes back
Don't forget the end of Obi-Wan Kenobi
The lengths that they were willing to go to somehow bring Maul back from this tells you everything you need to know about how epic his appearance was.
Anakin would attempt the same move Obi Wan used to kill Darth Maul at the end of episode III.
This is how the lightsaber fights should have looked in the original three movies, the one dissapointment
For the Original 3, Obi-Wan and Darth Vader were much older and a little more tired. They could do the fancy physical moves when younger, but when older they went with mentally dominating the opponent instead.

funny thing about these reactions is that they don't know. Maul actually lives and is in later shows and a quick cameo in a movie lol
Obiwan has a recurring habit of hanging off ledges.

I never understood why Obi-Wan never used the force speed boost, seen earlier in the movie, to catch up to Qui-Gon and Darth Maul.

Either make it way faster or have Obi-Wan make a slash at his head/chest. It does look oddly slow after this highspeed battle.
Now Disney ruin star wars...
