Great demo! I have this beauty paired with Klipsch RF-62 II Reference.... and is a revelation... it sounds amazing... I've tryed plenty of good sounding gear but I kept this and for plenty of reasons... the bass - nice and gurthy, the loudness mode - everthing I like about, the treble -detailed, the tunner- the best yet, the looks - one of the best. I also connected a powered sub on the B output just for fun and low notes songs ... and it shakes the floor in perfect harmony with the speakers (that are allready bassy). What could I say... strongly recomand!

Thanks for the video, it convinced me to go and buy it from you on ebay. I plan to use it with a pair of Imperial 6 speakers I found at a local thrift store not long ago.

Hello!!! I like your videos, I want to ask you a question: which receiver is better? The Marantz 2230 or the 2238b?

The phono demonstration, through the 2238B amplifier section, sounded the best out of the tuner and digital -- Tidal -- comparisons.

GREAT VIDEO!!! Question, how do you have the Pre-OUT configured? Pre out to a separate AMP? But then you have the Record Player hooked up as well? Just trying to figure it out. Thanks again!

Thank you! If you run your rca cables from the preamp out terminals on the back of your 2238b and in to the amplifier rca in terminals on your external amplifier you retain all of the front controls, inputs, outputs, tuner, tone, functions, & etc on the 2238b, you are just no long using the amplifier section inside of the receiver. So speaker cables would be wored to your external amp and not the Marantz. When doing so be sure to turn the speaker buttons off on the front of the receiver, just to help keep the amp section in the receiver healthy while not in use. The 2238b makes a great preamplifier and its a good way to increase your power without having to buy a bigger Marantz!

I hooked up my Marantz 2230 to new Emotive speakers and it sounds really good, for comparison I dug out the old Marantz vintage speakers that came with the 2230 and it sounded like crap

Which would be the difference between the regular and the “b” version?

Sounds too happy, the high notes are a bit exaggerated (but not distorted) IMO (you can hear the cymbals more than everything else) and the bass has very little extension but hey this receiver is great for rock music or electronic music (party music) not audiophile type that sounds even with all the frequencies like a Mcintosh for example, the silver face vintage marantz looks good though but the sound is not natural sounding, is just too sharp for my liking.
