I found one of these on my street five years ago, just sitting there on the sidewalk at 6:00 AM. "A Marantz!" I took it home excitedly (while walking my dog, difficult) and while it powered on it was nearly dead. Luckily I have a friend who was learning to restore vintage gear and after a few false starts (the insides had serious dirt and smoker's damage), $175 and a couple restoration kits he got it working halfway through the pandemic. The power button had already been replaced by a flip switch so no problems there. It's wonderful and I'm pretty sure it's the last receiver I'll ever own.

She's a beauty for sure! I had one back when I was probably 14 years old! That was the beginning of my audiophile journey! Hahaha

I just bought a refurbished Marantz Stereo 70s from the Marantz web store. They are offering a 25% discount so ended up paying $599 for it.
The Stereo 70s replaced an old Onkyo TX-NR809 from 2012 which had been delegated to 2 channel music listening in my small study/office about 6 or 7 years ago. Thats about when we bought a 4K TV and the Onkyo did not handle 4K signals.
After connecting and listening to sone music, I was pleasantly surprised at how much better my 90’s NHT 1.1 speakers performed. Better imaging, bigger soundstage, more detail, better definition, improved clarity. Really impressed how much better the NHT 1.1 sound, even though the Marantz Stereo 70s puts out 75 watts into 8 ohms and the Onkyo is 130 watts, both 2 channels driven. Wonder what magic Marantz does to create such an impressive performance?
Would love to find how a 1970’s 2270B sound compared to the newer Stereo 70s?
    Thanks for the video!

These actually push about 65wpc. More than the advertised watts they stated. Old school power was always more than advertised

So I have a 2250B from my high school days and had it serviced due to some lights out and the slide balance not working well. The tech said the balance slide was not functioning and bypassed it. The receiver is working but I want to get it refurbished so that it is working as it should. Any suggestions on individuals that do a great job on these. I am not sure the balance slide was cleaned if it is hard to get to. Thanks

I’ve had great experience with Just Audio in Baltimore. They also have a great TH-cam channel.

@@DXingSlovenija I left it with the Electronics shop that wanted 1,000 USD to fix it. I don't drive, so I had no way to get it back. #SadStory

@@imfrcd ugh, thats sad, I hope at least they will take good care of it
I was wondering what was wrong that it needed 1000$ to repair
Are parts that expensive or is this so hard to repair

@@DXingSlovenija It was a 4430, lots of parts and time is $$$$$$$$. I had already spent half that on it and spent a long time wondering what to do, I just decided that it was time to walk away. I have plenty of gear, I got lured by all the knobs and switches. Thanks for your concern.
