Roy Williamson died 30 years ago (12/8/1990) and his musicality was very underrated. His genius and talent and amazing voice will never be matched or equalled. What an amazing legacy he left for us to enjoy

Oh so true. He had an amazing voice and the combolins in this song are just superb. I still listen to the Corries practically every day.

This song was played at my dads funeral, he loved it and indeed the loch itself. Listening to it brings back many fond memories of him and the times we spent together on its banks. One day we shall sing this together and gaze upon the bonnie water from Killin and the ruins of Finlarig castle, until we meet again dad, love fae your boy. love you

Such a gorgeous song. Roy's voice is simply amazing. Corries are definitely one of the best folk groups ever. Greetings from Ireland!

John Lambert-In what connection did you know Roy? Was it through his music?

    • @JockLambert1972

As a young boy in the late 60’s, who’s mother & father were both musicians (folk), I was brought up in folk clubs following guys like Hamish imlach, watt nicol, dick gaughan, the corries all around the country, and with my mother being Irish, we would venture across the Irish Sea, to catch the fureys or pecker dunne & spend whole summers in Galway soaking up sessions, I have no personal connection to Roy, however out of all the musicians I have come across in my lifetime Roy stands out head and shoulders above the rest as a musician & singer for me. (Apologies for the long winded reply).

@@royroyston8480 Yes Roy those were certainly halcyon days for me even though I was a young boy, I was and still am completely immersed in folk music, folk drunk I suppose, and I’m glad there’s still the young guns keeping the fire lit today like Daoiri Farrell or Brian Macgloinn (ye vagabonds) or The Mary Wallopers outstanding musicians and there are thousands of others lined up behind them. All the best.
