Nice sign Russell! I think if I were you, I would preserve the patina on that old sign and hang it on the wall so it would show in my videos. Thanks Rusty!

Hi Frank, the old sign was a wooden one, and the vanish has all but peeled off it. I still have it, hanging in the shed.

Thankyou. I've been watching your table build....nice job there. I've subbed, too.

Good to see the cut settings, it helps for a reference to look back on.

Hi Ross, I thought I'd include them because it's something we all want to know.

Nice one mate, can’t beat the laser cutting - got a Drifta sign on the front of my camper trailer done from plasma cutting, looks good 👍👍

Hi Ross, I was saying the exact same thing to Mrs Rusty when I put sign on the gate.

Hi Rusty! I have followed your vids for a while and give them many views🤩 Ive just got all the parts needed for my table build, and I am going for linear screws as you. But I must ask, whats your experience on those? Do they work for thinner material concerning the speed loss vs belt driven xyz axis?
    Cheers

Hi Glade. I'm really impressed with the ballscrews on my table. I've run my table at 6000mm/min when cutting 1.6mm mild steel and didn't have any problems with them.
If you have a Hypertherm plasma cutter and use their cut charts, they tend to run the amps quite high and only vary the cutting speed, depending on the thickness of material.
When I cut 1.6mm mild steel, I have my amps set to 27 and my cutting speed is 2200mmm/min and the cut quality is very impressive.
Having said all that, I'm planning on building a bigger table and I won't be using ballscrews because I'm concerned about them sagging over a length of 3m.....I'm considering using a belt drive system instead.

@@RustysMetalCutSignsDesigns That was great to hear😀My table will be a smaller version than yours (1200mm x 4), so I (hope) believe the ballscrews will work without any wobbling. As first project, trial and error is allowed. So I will be back for sure with questions.
      Thx for your respond mate🍻

Glade, you can buy ballscews online...I bought mine from eBay....make sure you go for 1605 (16mm diameter, 5mm pitch) as a minimum. Depending on how fast you're going to drive the gantry and torch, you might consider 1610 ballscrews (16mm diameter, 10mm pitch) or stepping up to 2005 or 2010 ballscrews.

The old one has more character should have done a design that has a tree with flames basic.

I was limited to using the same attachment holes as the original sign, but I do like your idea of a tree with flames.
