I'm mad on Paper Republic as well. I know you'll enjoy using it Mike, they are good 👍🏻😄 NOTE: on the XL journals they always do discounts and you can get this by checking their adverts on Facebook and by merely joining the email newsletter gets you 20% discount, however Facebook adverts offer more discount. On there it is 30%. If you create an online member account then every paper notebook and accessory will be 20% off from then on. Paper - those 120gsm notebooks are just superb for fountain pens and inks. Very nice paper to write on, great feel with no massive tooth to it. Takes any ink I've used very well. Their standard 80gsm paper also takes FP ink but I'm not a great fan personally, purely due to me writing all the time so I like the lined notebooks for that better. For the artists amongst us they do some superb notebooks for you and I recommend the new A4 sizes too. (I'm not affiliated in any way, I am a customer who just genuinely enjoys their products and work ethics).
You've done it again, Mike Matteson. I couldn't resist the A4 portfolio in Chestnut. I would have been tempted by the desk pad, but I wouldn't dare have anything that nice on my desk -- it would soon be stained with ink, food and tea. Patina is great; tea stains not so much.
I know I'd get it stained too, but that's part of the charm of things like that. They don't stay perfect. They're changed when we use them and we just have to be okay with that. I do use a coaster though. ;-)
@@inkdependence That's absolutely true, it becomes even more beautiful with age. On the product page you can see an example of one of our colleague's one, after 3 years. It does have a lot of stains (also he drinks a lot of team) but it's gorgeous :D Thank you Roderick for ordering the portfolio a4, let us know what you think about it!
Hi Mike! Thank you so much for your positive review :) It was really exciting to hear and see you discovering your paper republic companion! Oh, little tip: you can use the "grey" notebook inside the card holder, and use the second ribbon for the book refill (the ruled one) - this way you can have both notebooks inside your leather cover. I can't wait to see how your grand voyageur will age with time & use! All the best from Vienna, Ranee at paper republic
I really like the Fermo, but I do keep trying to click it like a VP. It's a very comfortable and classy pen, though you do lose the one-handed click action of the VP.

Thanks for the idea! I'll definitely try that out.
That paper looks amazing. I’m looking forward to the video wherein you tell us how your relationship with this journal has developed!
Great review. How do you like the Fermo compared to the standard Vanishing Point?
