pinto was my papas cousin. i have his original painting that was dedicated to my papa when he was a baby and records of his bozo the clown story. it’s so awesome reading about him and that he is in my family line!
He's my friend's great uncle.

The grasshopper at 10:40 sounds exactly like Goofy, lol.
R.I.P Pinto Colvig (1892 - 1967)
In between making the Bolivar cartoon and joining Disney, he spent a brief period working for Walter Lantz, being an animator, writer and voice actor on the Oswald the Lucky Rabbit shorts.
9:31-9:34 And of course Goofy´s introduction is very noticeable!
He also does goofy voices in Tex Avery cartoons and Looney Tunes.
Especially Country Wolf or Screwy Squirrel laughing like Goofy
He also did his Goofy voice in two Popeye cartoons that were released in 1940 and in "Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy", which was also made by the Fleischer studio.
And he did his "Practical Pig" voice in Tex Avery's first MGM cartoon, "Blitz Wolf" and in one other Tex Avery MGM cartoon, "One Ham's Family".
I notice in the LT cartoon "Hop and Go!" by Norm McCabe, the kangaroo sounds a lot like Goofy. Probably not the only non Disney cartoon for Pinto to use that voice, but it's the most prominent one in my opinion.
Fleischer ones, too.

I was thrilled when I learned this. Gulliver's Travels was my favorite movie as a kid. He was my friend's great uncle.

I have the book, but I must say it barely touches on Goofy at all, outside of one or two pages.
well that sticks...I mean I would argue goofy was his biggest and longest performance...maybe he just didn't talk about it much :/
Well, apparently, Walt didn't think much of Goofy, either, not helped by the fact that the one responsible for making him so great was Art Babbitt.

@@Dizographies There actually were two characters, Egghead and "Egghead's brother". Egghead has wide-open eyes, usually has a full head of black hair in a "bowl" haircut (but not in "Egghead Rides Again"), and is featured prominently in the cartoons he's in like "Daffy Duck and Egghead" and "Egghead Rides Again". "Egghead's brother" has squinty eyes, is always bald, and pops in and out throughout the cartoons he's in like "Hamateur Night", "Believe It Or Else" and "The Isle of Pingo Pongo" ("Now, boss?"). "Egghead's brother" is called Elmer Fudd in "A Feud There Was". (And the lobby card for "The Isle of Pingo Pongo" says "A Merrie Melodie Featuring ELMER".) In "Elmer's Candid Camera" he sounds like (and pretty much looks like) Elmer Fudd. But he's still dressed kind of like "Egghead's brother".
Danny Webb also did the voice of the Queen in the infamous "Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarfs".

Animation historian Tom Kline said that Colvig intended to make the Bolivar short, "Blue Notes," with sound, and that they licensed technology from a Fox-Case company called Movietone. But the final product didn't have recorded sound?
