I can tell you, as Contestant #1 on this episode, that it was an enjoyable experience. It's also amazing to me that people cannot seem to avoid the "Bankrupt" and "Lose a Turn" wedges on the wheel. All I did was ask for a couple of practice spins before the taping and I was fine. There is a huge contiguous section of safe spaces on the wheel that could save contestants thousands of dollars with just a little effort.
I most likely saw you on Wheel of fortune it depends whether you were on daytime or daytime I was 8 years old when you appeared on Wheel and do remember the shopping format still watch the wheel like the all cash format better.
You did a great job on the show. Considering all of the prizes that you had won, including the Fiero, that’s a huge win in today’s standard. If Wheel ever decides to bring back some of their favorites back to play, would you do it?
+Anthony Guarino I know right, it sucks because there's literally no other way to see these classic episodes other than online. Too bad that Sony is so anal about their BS copyright and not giving those like us who enjoy the shows good ol' days an official way in which to watch them, or even re air them like they did on GSN back in the day when i was a kid. With that fact in mind downloading episodes from here, Dailymotion, Vimeo.etc is the only option i have for seeing the classic era of the show before it morphed into the gimmick fest with crappy puzzle writing and impossible Bonus rounds like we have seen the last few seasons.
+Darla Fanbridge Exactly, the people in charge there seem to be a lot less stingy and are not copyright Nazis about old Price episodes being uploaded on here from all the different eras of the show when compared to Sony and Wheel of Fortune episodes both with daytime and syndicated versions including old Jeopardy! uploads in some cases both the majority of the Trebek era and Art Fleming's OG run from 1964-1975. It seems judging from that extreme contrast the folks at FremantleMedia don't mind them being up here as long as they get ad revenue on the videos.
+Darla Fanbridge Most likely because of the series of lawsuits that said models took against Bob and the show itself over time, especially with Dian and Holly as well as Janice and Kathleen later after their respective departures among other controversies. This also includes the crusade against furs as prizes on earlier episodes prior to him becoming an animal rights advocate either shortly before or after his wife Dorothy Jo's death in 1981, and i guess with those facts in mind the execs figured "Well, these libraries of episodes probably will not be re aired in televised form in the immediate future if ever. Therefore, we will not stand in the way of people uploading their home recorded copies if they so desire to." which i guess was likely the resolution they came to. Basically, their decision i assume rested on the fact that a lack of airing on networks like GSN meant that fans uploading older episodes from VHS recordings and other sources on here would do no harm in terms of the show as it exists currently. So, they don't really mind people putting them on here as long as they reap the revenue from the ads that they put on the videos.
+Darla Fanbridge Yes, even though there are various factors including the aforementioned model issues currently withholding the show from being re run as far as older episodes go I'm glad at least Fremantle isn't being aggressive copyright Nazis and allowing these VHS rips and others to remain up for those who enjoy watching the classic eras from the Cullen days all the way to Drew's shows from about a decade ago. This shows at least they are more lenient and don't aggressively police uploads given all of the aforementioned circumstances, compare that with Sony who will swiftly take down Wheel of Fortune episodes old or new sometimes within hours of uploading and that's why i have had to resort to downloading as i know that they will eventually be taken down soon.
A job well done Chuck. The prices of the prizes were furnished to the contestants prior to the show, and have been rounded off to the nearest dollar. Gift certificates do not include sales tax.
I was very young at this time but I remember watching this version of WOF. Actually, when the show started and Pat came on, I always wondered, "Is Pat going to make to the wheel before the curtains come down?" Those curtains used to be used to conceal the prizes while the contestants played but by this time, they were only being used for Vanna to make her grand entrance.
@@braving50, yeah, you're right. I appeared on Wheel eight years ago, and wished I had won a trip and a car like you. However, the cash made me a happy camper, and I finished with a well-respected total.
@@braving50, thank you, sir. I told Pat that I waited three decades for this, and he laughed out loud literally. Vanna thought the whole thing was special. They were the kindest people I ever met.
This looks to be from the original broadcast as there are no GSN bugs and they show the mid-show fee plugs the nighttime show had in season one, which GSN usually didn't when they reran the 1983-84 nighttime season in the mid 90s.
It's funny how the money people ended up with after winning the bonus round back then is nowadays the amount that a person would have before the bonus round.
Chuck you did brilliant also I bet you have a good time on the show and what happened to the prizes that you won and did you have a good time in Jamaica 🇯🇲. 😀👍👍👍👍👍

You were an odd contestant the put you money on account most cotestants during this era put the remaining money on gift certificate.

@Anthony Guarino Yes, and ginger ale has become a favorite drink of mine.
@Anthony Guarino No. It was fun to drive, but it was also a lemon. Many things went wrong with it, so I sold it after about a year.
Wow, you took home everything on this show!
The same fee plugs used here are used on the Barry & Enright syndicated game shows.
And it is rare we see fee plugs like that! Those kind of fee plugs. A wheel episode like third
This
Yes, this episode was taped on February 23, 1984 and aired in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 18, 1984.
I got a WTVD-11 flashback from this. #CBS11atthetime

Great to see an OG broadcast from so early in the show's run, definitely a cool watch.
A job well done Chuck.

(NBC canned applause #2 follows (the one with yays and applause that sound like a kid's game show))
Yes, that was one of my better days. I felt sorry for the gals.
Man I was born in 1995 and I never saw this version of Wheel of Fortune. Its amazing.
I did I was born in 1976.
This is the way Wheel was on NBC daytime from the 1974 pilots all the way through June 1989, and nighttime's September 1983 through September 1987.
This aired the day I was born. Its fun to look at things like this
2/23/84 was my first birthday
My first Birthday on this date
Can you reup this to include the ads?
Very good shopping, Chuck, I must say
Thanks for the compliment, Philip. I would rather have had cash, but that was not an option in 1984.
@@braving50, yeah, you're right. I appeared on Wheel eight years ago, and wished I had won a trip and a car like you. However, the cash made me a happy camper, and I finished with a well-respected total.
@@gsnman Congratulations, Philip. It's great to hear another success story.

You mean in the late 90s
He gave RSTLNE in the bonus round.
All the contestants did in the early episodes. I wonder if they were instructed to say it
$566 has to be the lowest the wheel prize ever was.
The Bob Goen version says "Hold my beer." 🙃
There was a $500 cash prize on a season one syndicated episode in round two
It's funny how the money people ended up with after winning the bonus round back then is nowadays the amount that a person would have before the bonus round.
Chuck you did brilliant also I bet you have a good time on the show and what happened to the prizes that you won and did you have a good time in Jamaica 🇯🇲. 😀👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you, James. It was also a pleasure meeting Pat and Vanna. I still have a couple of the prizes, and the trip to Jamaica was great.
@@braving50 your welcome and that's cool. 😀👍
These first season of Wheel are rare and they are available on Roku. I highly doubt the fee plugs would be intact though
Roku? I think you may have meant Pluto TV On Demand and Yes, the fee plugs were removed from all episodes posted.
Did Pat call Jack Jack Paar?
Do you remember which Prizes you still have?
Yes, I still have the lamp and coffee table.
Chuck was sexy! Swoon!
