You said it all, Charles was disrespected by this embalming company for 66years. He deserves a proper rest.
lest he is buried now so he is now resting in peace that's the main thing.
Yes he does
Isn't that a nightmare??
Agree@@TheCarolsarratt
That has always been a sad story to me, that Mr. Adkins was not treated with any dignity or respect when he passed. May he rest in peace as he deserved all along.
Same, here. 😢
I agree and wonder why his marker is so small and if the cemetery donated his space.
Surprised that was not considered abuse of a corpse!?😮
@@janesecaraway3995exactly my point! This is sick and sad af smh.
Did you do Tobe Keith
Poor Charles, treated like an exhibit in a freak show! He might not have had family to claim him. But that doesn't mean his family didn't exist. He WAS someone's son, someone's grandson, and probably someone's brother, nephew, and/or uncle. He was SOMEONE. He was a HUMAN BEING. Black or white, rich or poor, man or woman or anything in between, it doesn't matter. NOBODY deserves to be disrespected like that! I'm so glad he was finally given a proper burial, and is resting peacefully. I hope his soul is untroubled and happy now, and enjoying Eternal Glory.
Well said 🫶🏾🩵🧡💛🩷
boo hoo
Agree
How horribly disrespectful 😢 I'm glad they finally laid him to rest.
It’s only his body,I hope or would assume speedy is in heaven,or hell.

I read a Jet magazine article about Speedy when I was a kid. This was back in the 90s. I couldn't remember his name and have been trying to look up his story. RIP Charles "Speedy" Atkins.
Cold-blooded ✌️❗️
It reminds me of the story of Elmer McCurdy who was found in a funhouse. Times were way different back then.
Yep! I remember they had him standing up in the photo.
They should’ve gave speedy a proper burial, not showing him up like he’s a Halloween decoration. Rest in peace to speedy.🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🙏🏾
How sad that he was treated with such disrepct. No person deserves to be treated that way. RIP Charles Atkins, you deserved better but I am glad you finally have a proper resting place.
@@markmiller8853 yes it your opinion. A dumb one
@@markmiller8853as a person who’s taken pictures with Speedy, it was very respectful.
People laughing and posing with his mummified remains is disgusting!
Agree what if that where one of there family members😢😢
WHAT THE HECK???? This was once a live human. I am glad Mr Atkins was finally properly buried.
Rest peacefully Speedy. This story has totally broken my heart. It’s a shame what us as people do to other people.
Disrespect to the deceased is never a Good idea, no matter the deceased person’s identity; shame on those who participated in the desecration of that man’s body…
Well said Jeff.
Rest in peace now Charles 🙏🏻🕊️those poor babies that died in the fire💔😭🙏🏻
I remember seeing Speedy on That's Incredible! with my parents in the early 80's. We never forgot him. Glad he finally got a proper burial. Love your channel as always!!!
To that guy who kept this mans poor body in his closet is so disrespectful beyond repair
There is a man in Reading, PA, who was also over embalmed, and basically turned to stone. He supposedly is still in the funeral home, supposed to be buried soon. He was called Stone Man Willy. So sad.
Goes to show what funeral homes will pull if the deceased has no advocate.
God bless all the children who lost their lives, keep up the good work paying respect Lamont 🙏
I live in Salem Kentucky and bought a small farm with a graveyard about seventy five feet from the back door. That's my view from the kitchen window when I'm doing dishes.
Do you know anything about the people buried there
Rest in Peace precious Charles. You are loved and will not be forgotten.
So sorry about the children dying in the fires.
This is why I have a fire extinguisher in every bed room and garage and kitchen.
Small investment but worth it to me !
I HATE what they did to that poor man 😢😢😢😢❤.
My ancestors were from Paducah. I was raised in Greenup County, Kentucky. Enjoyed this story! Love you, Lamont ❤. Be safe!
Poor Speedy Rest in Peace. Thanks Lamont x🇬🇧🙋♀️
Hey Lamont, we had a huge ice storm in 2009 here in Western, Kentucky. She passed during that storm so that is what that was referring to. Love your videos!
I remember that. I'm from Kentucky as well, though I was living in New Albany Indiana at the time of the storm. I will never forget, because I had just had my son. He was only a little over 3 months old at the time of the storm, and when our power went out, I remember I didn't care about myself or my food or my pipes or literally anything else; my only concern was how I was going to keep my tiny baby warm. Thankfully, the Angels were on our side. We lived downtown, so our power was restored in a matter of hours. My mother and sister both lost power for a week or more, and lost most of the food in their freezers. My sister stayed with my mother and her husband at the time, who had a generator, so at least they had some light, and a space heater. My little family, husband, son, and I, were very, very lucky. But that was a terrible week for my mom and sister, and many other people. I wonder if Mrs. Cherry died because she lost power and had no heat? Or maybe she had a medical emergency, and EMS couldn't get to her/she couldn't get to the hospital? Or maybe she just died of some sort of natural cause, and it was just coincidence that it was during the storm? Well, whatever the case, may she and Mayor Cherry rest peacefully.
Is it a blizzard??
@@tamarikimani5701 it was an ice storm. Large amounts of freezing rain fell, and covered everything with a layer of ice, I think it was like 1/4 inch of ice or something like that. That doesn't sound like much. But roads are terrible. More than that, ice is heavy, and tree branches are dry and bare in the winter. And when every branch and twig is coated with all that ice, the weight overloads them and causes them to break, blocking roads, damaging roofs and cars, and snapping power lines. The weight of the ice by itself can snap power lines, too. There were so many trees and lines down, roads were impassable, and some people were without electricity for 3 weeks or more. It was bad.
@@mariebelladonna437 ohh dear🥶that sound terrifing.Thanks alot❤🤗
@@tamarikimani5701 I would say I personally was more "very worried", than scared. And it was pretty awful, in general. But like I said, I was one of the lucky ones. It could have been much worse. And for a lot of people, it was. There but for the Grace of God, go I, ya know? And you're welcome. 😊
That's a sad story about Mr. Adkins. And it was so disrespectful of the 1st mortician to experiment on him and kept him in a closet like he was a stuffed animal, and did the next. Thankfully someone had the decency to give him a proper burial. Rest in peace dear Sir.🙏
Paducah comes to life in the summer! Every Saturday evening the Downtown after dinner goes on plus festivals with the BarBQue on the River being the biggest and draws people from all over. Even some folks from other countries.
Paducah is actually bigger than my hometown. I lived in Paducah for 10 years It has a lot more than my hometown. Before the uranium plant closed it had more than 50,000 people living there.
If it were summer time Paducah would have a lot going on. The Bar-B-Que on the River is the biggest 2 day festival event Paducah hosts, then the art show exhibit from SIU students is really cool too.
Rest in peace Speedy 🕊️🙏🤲
Thank you. You do a great job and service to those who have lost their voice.
The story of Charles leaves me speakless behind and makes me sad and angry.
Everybody deserves respect and a propper burial.
It's a shame what happened to him😢
Rest peacefully finally, Charles...
Thank you for another Faces in death, Lamont❤
I know, it's a lot of work to do for you, searching the Internet for information.
I appreciate that a lot🙏
I like to hear story 's of people like you and me more, than story 's about famous ones.
This means a lot to me, thank you and stay safe❤
Hey Lamont, just so you know, "lost in ice storm" is a pleasant way of saying that the couple froze to death.
Hello Lamont I'm a military marine veteran will u ever go to military cemeterys honoring veterans
Thank you for your service. My dad rests at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego
I think he will and thank you for your service.
I have done a few videos here and there on heroic veterans.
Oh you should Lamont...
Visit the grave of Medal of Honor recipient Roy P. Benavidez.
Thanks Lamont ❤ you are doing these people a good service to see that they are remembered and not forgotten.
That house fire was very bad! The community was grief stricken 😢 we had a bad ice storm in 2009 Lamont! It was pretty bad! No electricity for almost 3 weeks in frigid cold! We were no prepared 😢
How disrespectful 😢😢😢😢😮😮😮😮😮how cruel humans can be.
I absolutely LOVE hearing bird's sing. Sitting under a line tree, while it rains❤ poor Charles 😮 it's very sad how he died and to be used as a Halloween prop😢 Thanks for sharing his story.
I am willing to bet the 'passed in ice storm' is a reference to the ice storm that hit Kentucky in January of 09. People were without power and trapped from 4 days to three weeks. It was terrible.
I bet on those raining days when you're stopped, it's great just to lay in & just listen to the rain in your van.
Absolutely, disrespectful, and inhumane in every way.
It’s not only F’d up to use this man’s corpse as a photo op, but to also put the embalmers name on his gravestone? Damn. Not cool
Absolutely Agree 👍
Thing I love about your channel is you do not use click bait.
Brayden and kaydence were my husband's little cousin and can tell you the real story of the fire
I'm so sorry. I will not pry, as it is not my business (but if it helps you to talk about it-because talking or writing about trauma can be therapeutic-I am always willing to listen; it's totally up to you though, and if you don't want to talk about it, or even respond to this comment at all, I completely understand and respect that). But as a mother myself, I couldn't even imagine. I wouldn't wish it on my very worst enemy. I am so, so sorry. There are no words I can say, really. But I'm sending prayers and love to your family. I just wanted you to know that.
These two babies are my husband's distant cousins...the mother was in jail at the time of the fire, they were being watched by a babysitter at the time and was busy in extra curricular activities (ahem) when the fire happened the babysitter comes running out the house naked, and she never even bothered trying to get those two babies out,she saved herself!!she went to jail for it
Too many people just think of themselves. @@amyplummer8268

Lamont I love these videos like this one! Like hearing you talk about the people that we have lost! Thank-you for sharing their story!! And may they all rest in peace 🤍🕊🤍🕊🤍🕊🤍🕊🤍🕊🤍🕊🤍🕊
Who keeps a body in their closet?? This is freaking bizarre. What sad disrespect for Speedy. Damn.
Beautiful monument for the 2 children.
WHO DOES THAT? who takes pics with a corpse, how disgusting is that, that man deserved a burial and to rest in peace!!!
That poor gentleman 😮so shocking parading him like that . RIP speedy 🙏.safe travels Lamont 😊
Thank you for sharing Mr Adkins story. Complete disrespect & the people taking photos with him disgusting. Sad when you don’t have family or friends. Rest in peace ❤
Lamont, I'm from Kentucky. In early 2009 we had a terrible ice storm. She must have died during that or maybe even because of that judging by her death date. That's probably why her grave stone reads that. That ice storm was one for the history books, sadly, and it did a lot of damage
You should go downtown and check out the murals painted on the flood wall. The murals explains Paducahs history. Also the city park has an awesome wood sculpture of an Indian. The reason how Paducah got its name.
poor charles...glad he was laid to rest..bless him..very strange story but a good one lamont 🙏🏽
How terrible. Rest in peace, sir.
Alot of "weird" stuff happens here in ky. Been here all my life and wouldn't leave it for nothing UNTIL the lord calls me home ! Be safe lamont God bless you.
Rest In Peace.. Speedy 🇺🇸🙏
Poor Brayden and Kadence, I hope the smoke got them before the flames. 😢
I thought the same thing - poor little babies! All under 3 years old.
Charles just wanted to hang around and make people smile..
It truly is a very sad story.
That Robert Cherry monument said died in ice storm, There was a massive, very bad ice storm in Jan 2009 and many, many people died. The was no power for weeks in the tri-state area and people had no heat, lights, water, etc. Many froze, some died from exposure, etc. It was bad. There is a civic center named after Robert Cherry. He was loved by many.
You're right Venita. We lived in Western Kentucky and had no heat or lights. It was a horrific time. My daughter had a fit to go to family in Evansville IN which still had power. Thank God she did.
I figured that's what it meant since she passed in the winter
A similar situation also happened in Sabina, OH. No one ever claimed the body and was on display. In Nederland, Colorado, another body was placed on ice all year round. They actually have a festival every year called "Frozen Dead Guy Days."
My gosh, this was sick.
Never knew of this.
But the family made sure they all were treated respectfullly but not charles.
This is almost the exact thing that happened to Old Mike, but he was kept in hopes that they would find out his actual identity. Old Mike looked almost wood like also but was embalmed in 1911 when he was found dead in the park. He was finally buried in 1975 after being on display since his death.
So glad they gave him the respect and burial he deserved. RIP "Speedy".
Thanks Lamont, last thing I ever thought was that I would enjoy watching stories on death, but you have a way of making it a pleasant experience. You take away the morbidity aspect and make the whole experience calming, informative, and enjoyable. You give these people the dignity they deserve in a respectful and interesting way. Been watching you since the start of your journey. You're the best. ❤
Did anyone notice at 16:44 Lynn Cherry's daughter died three months after her death? Kind of odd.
Stress, possibly. Or maybe she died from the grief, from a broken heart. I'm not being sarcastic or making light of the situation, I promise. It's a real thing. It's called Broken Heart Syndrome, and people really die from it. My aunt had a heart attack because of it, after my uncle died, but fortunately, she lived and is still going strong today.
@@mariebelladonna437 Yes I've heard of that. My wonder was if the "Passed in ice storm" quote was maybe a car crash that the daughter was hurt and she died of injuries later.
@@steveruby2120 that's a really good theory!
Im in Louisville Kentucky watching this. Thanks for sharing this Lamont about Mr. Adkins, rest in Peace 🕊️🙏
RIP to all.🙏
You're definitely one of the best on youtube. Much respect.
The 2 children Brayden and Kaydence make me think of my son. Brayden and my son were born 3 weeks apart, my son being younger. Brayden would be 16 today and Kaydence would be 15 and possibly both Sophomores in high school. So heartbreaking.
I’m addicted to your videos and fantastic story telling, Lamont. Much love from London 🇬🇧
Thank you, Mr Lamont A L, for your honest and open feelings/knowledge.
Stay free. To Yours and You.
Rab 💚 👋
8:48 that is a beautiful headstone!
Ahhh in my old stomping ground. Paducah Ky. My youngest child was born at Lourdes hospital.
Weird, creepy. My son lives in Paducah. Caught my attention when I saw the location in your title.
I hope that Mr. Atkinson is finally resting in peace.
Wow! That was a weird story.
Regarding the scrip on the Cherry couple. In 2009 we had an ice storm in Kentucky and a lot of people lost power, some had no power for over a week, some people tried to stay in their homes using different types of heaters or fireplaces and unfortunately quite a few people passed away either by their house catching on fire or actually freezing to death
That’s so sad, those babies, so tragic
I remember seeing him on TV as a kid. Seemed so strange and still do as an adult.
Your videos never disappoint!! Not to mention I could listen to your voice tell stories all day long! Great job Lamont!! ❤❤😊
That is just DISGUSTING to do something like that to a body!!!! No RESPECT whatsoever!!!! At least he is now PROPERLY BURIED!!!! Rest In Eternal Peace Mr. Atkins. Thanks Lamont!
May he Rest In Peace ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
The south had a ice storm in 95 nobody even had power for a week. Look it up I remember it and it sucked. In 93 we had a blizzard
this is so sad. i’ve seen other videos about this man, but never got much of his story and how he came to be reduced to a public curiosity. thank you for sharing.
16:52 hearing birds just remind me of my childhood.😁
😢rip Charles Aikens 😢you are loved and forever a place in this time and all times
I love the stories about all the different people, thank you.
look up "Old Mike" in Prescott Arkansas. It's a similar story to this. He died in 1911 and the funeral home kept him in the closet until he was finally buried in the 70s.
Hey bro don't know if u heard or not but today Keith past away on Monday Feb 5 from stomach cancer he was 62
Keith was he a friend of yours. The FATHER should have life JACKETS ON HIS KIDS FOR SURE... EVERYONE SHOSULD HAVE A LIFE VEST ON.. STUPIDITY..
Yes This is very Disrespectful they way the funeral home owner treated this man body
WOW 😳 Now that was interesting!!! Thank you Lamont!
🙏❤️🕊️
Thanks for showing us the memorials of those unknown outside of the area...
I really enjoy your visits to the cemeteries and the background stories to those that have passed. Love from Queensland, Australia.❤
Hello lamont..your close to me, lived in ky all my life. I love the hills, sad story here 😢 breaks my ❤. Stay safe and God bless you !
I have a murder story for you if you are ever in NC and I actually knew the victim and it is brutal and hit our small towns near Charlotte very hard and the shock was unbelievable and the murderer had already tried to get two other women the same day he got my sister's best friend who we saw just 3 days before she was murdered. I will look for your email and send you more information. Love and hugs 🤗 and yes I will meet you and show you the murder scene, where she worked her gravesite and the high school even has a scholarship in her name. She was only 19.
yay yay another North Carolinan much love.. i'm suprise that didn't make the local news Ethier abc11 or Wral. i live on the other side of Raleigh
Lamont, the birdsong was indeed beautiful. And, speaking as a native Kentuckian myself, though I live in Southern Indiana now (and though people from the Midwest know this even better than I), the fact that they were still singing so enthusiastically is a bit of comfort as well, in the context of that storm coming. But if there's a storm imminent, and the birds go silent, and it suddenly gets really, really quiet, like, eerily quiet, THAT'S when you need to be scared, lol! As an aside, if you're traveling up Interstate 64 to go to St. Louis, and get a hankering for a Big Mac, stop off at the Corydon exit and come see me. I'd love to meet one of my favorite TH-camrs in person (and maybe get a selfie?)! I'll even give you a discount, if I can, lol!
Strange how close he was buried by that other grave
Passed in Ice Storm.....January 26th-28th 2009 Ice and Snow storm in Kentucky caused the largest power outage on record 609000 homes without power. Property damage was widespread!
Fatalities: 65 (35 in KY)
Areas affected: parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky
RIP 🪦 🕊️
😮Paducah is my hometown! I've had the pleasure of seeing Speedy before he was laid to rest! Lamont, you should visit Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on the outskirts of Paducah. One of the girls, Nicole Hadley, that was killed in the Heath High School(the school I graduated from also) shooting back in December of 1997 is buried there. Right next to my stepdad. As far as Mrs. Cherry passing in the ice storm, we had a very bad, very crippling ice storm here in Paducah back in January of 2009. No power/electricity for miles and miles anywhere for several weeks in Western Kentucky, Southern Illinois, Southeast Missouri and parts of Tennessee!! It was horrible!!
Stay safe out there, and rock on, Lamont!💜✌
That's so messed up. RIP Speedy❤
Thanks Lamont. I always enjoy your videos 😊
Lamont you’re always on the run, this video is great the way it is 👍
Love the life stories that you have taken the time to tell. So sad when a family has lost little ones.😢
