@@kingshukchowdhury898 It may have been a small ground, still no single batsman from the 3 teams (Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India) other than Jayasuriya could come even close to what he did. Basically, it was not a run feast, except for the these heroics by jayasuriya.
One of the best hitters of the ball... He did it playing with red ball hats off to the legend of modern day cricket... He was the most distructive and father of modern day T20 cricket....
He changed the cricket senario in 1996 world cup. Before that teams used to save wickets and last 10 overs were used to be of POWER hitting He smashed in first 15 overs and teams were surprised like ENGLAND in Quarter final Where Jaysuria 82(43)
Sanath was Gayle and Sehwag combined in batting, he is still in top 3 left arm spin bowlers ever and add his excellent fielding at midon/midoff, he is definitely amongst top all rounders in the league of Kallis and Gary Sobers. If Sanath was an indian, he would have been considered equal to Sachin Ponting which i think he still is.

This record of fastest ODI 50 of Jayasuriya made in 1996 lasted till 2015. Although his fastest ODI 100 in same series lasted just a few months. Strange !!
Dumb Pakistani got a beating of their lifetime.....And that also when Pakistan was at peak in 90s ...similar thing happened to Shoaib Akhtar against Virendra Sehwag
My God.. Jayasuriya just demolished the Pakistani bowling in that tournament and hammered every Pakistani bowler. Sanath Jayasuriya was the most destructive ODI player of 90s and 2000s in my opinion. Just look at this innings, it was the fastest ODI fifty also
Initially on overseas wickets it was Kaluwitharana who was success but later Jayasuriya came into his element for many following years n became a proper technique batsmen who cud bludgeon the best of attacks
This guy was terrifying to bowl to .. i mean you can see how terrified waqar , aquib were at that time when they are at the peak... What could have other bowlers done when his charismatic batting is ON.

In 1992 WC, Jayasurya was Spinner & used to bat at number 6 or 7.
In 1996 WC, Jayasurya was opening devastating Batsman
Today's cricket fans have no idea how good Jayasuriya was!
