Gabriel ... exactly why I purchased the MODX7 in October. The more I play it ... the more I love it! Really great, musical patches (over 2000). Btw ... the MODX7 weighs just 16.5 pounds. You will love this keyboard!
A very impressive demo. It seems like a lot of synth for the money. What's the main features to be cut compared to the Montage range, despite their superior build quality, aftertouch, a few more simultaneous fx, twice the polyphony for the FM voices?
The MX, MOXF, Montage, and now this MODX are all great keyboards. But why, oh why, does Yamaha insist on keeping the headphone jacks at the rear panel??
I bought this model, because it was so light weight compared to my old Yamaha P-200 stage piano. I love the touch screen, much easier than the Yamaha Montage.
I am really impressed by the MODX and seriously consider to retire my MOXF for it, but in every presentation this guy talks about the AWM2 engine creating "these fat analog sounds" and I just cannot help it but laugh at that. What does a digital sample player (as good and as advanced as the AWM2) has to do with creating analog sounds, apart from the fact that the sound goes thru the D/A convertors (which, sadly, are inferior to these in MONTAGE), is just beyond me. Unless you target this product to the random Joe who got no clue, this is just a bad marketing.
Perhaps he should've said "theses amazing virtual analog sounds". Every synth has its strengths and weaknesses. That said I like what it does along with all the control options.
Hi, the reason I am saying this is because the AWM2 engine is extremely capable of creating analogue-style sounds. And pretty huge to be honest. 8 elements per part with their own filter, envelopes, lfo's eq's etc. If you have a MOXF you know what I'm talking about. AWM2 can do subtractive synthesis in a very powerful way. Ok, I give you that "technically" it's "analogue-type" sounds and I usually say it like that, but it really wasn't intentional or a marketing trick. I would encourage you to check my independent channel and see how well the Montage and MODX can do analogue (oops almost did it again) -type sounds, Peace :)
Sorry if I sounded harsh, did not intend to offend you Dom, you did great videos presenting MODX and I watched them all! Just my Virgo sign stoke there, if you know what I mean :) But yeah, it's good to be precise and talk about "analog-like" sounds, after all, the MODX synth part is 100% digital.
@@kalinmirchev no offence taken :) I honestly think of sounds like say "Rhodes" or "strings" or "analogue bass", you know "types" of sounds. All of us producers know what we're talking about :) I've actually had clients that thought that the Montage was the "analogue" sound in a production. Lines are really blurred these days with all those beautiful synths we have in our disposal. :) cheers!
I've had my MODX7 since October and love it! You can look at TH-cam all day long ... but you really have to play and HEAR the MODX in person to apprecite it. There are plenty of excellent analogue sounds to work with. I play in a cover band that covers all genres and the MODX has everything we need for live performances and recording. Check one out in person if you can. And see Dom's reply in this thread. Very helpful. His TH-cam channel is excellent, too, with lots of valuable insight to the MODX.
64 note polyphony? Roland XPS 10 & XPS 30 has 128. Even the Korg Krome has 120 polyphony. Bye bye MODX. If I want a Yamaha I would go for the Montage 8 or Motif XF or even a Korg Kronos 2. Peace out!
Okay, after 3 years of saving, I finally bought this synth. Worth it.
The MODX is indeed full loaded, good job Yamaha.
Finally a lightweight killer keyboard. Tire of hauling around the heavy Motif ES7. Plan on buying the MODX7 soon.

I'm looking forward to when Yamaha will add MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) to their keyboards.
Let’s hear some of these custom loaded wave forms and how they can be manipulated.

Seconds that: piano, ep’s, organs, and all that stuff can please take a backseat to synthesis thank you

I agree, I hate it being in the rear!
It's easily broken at the front.

Isn‘t the touch screen the same as in the Montage?
@@RayyMusik I think it is the same, with almost the same set up.
@@patricksaxon3983 It's the same except that the Montage has more features externally and internally
@@patricksaxon3983 It is the same
Can you please make a video on how to play different parts with the left and right hands?
Perfect, but where's the sequencer?
I understand there's a basic one in it.
There is a new update for the Modx which allows you to record up to 16 tracks. Perfect for what you are looking for.
Does it have a vocoder?
There is no After Touch...
No aftertouch :(
Is the MODX only compatible with Apple devices or also with Android and/or PC?
With pc and osx
A pedalboard?

Armz316 do you have more than 64 Fingers?
64 polyphony in Fm x engine can be combined with 128 polyphony in awm engine = 192
korg is korg not yamaha
Casio privia px s5 = 256
