J'ai regardé la carte et la ligne ferroviaire se pourusuit jusqu'à Kötschach, mais ÖBB ne semble pas avoir de service régulier sur cette section, en fait, il aurait été interrompu en 2016 selon la page wikipedia en Allemand... C'est dommage, probablement qu'il n'y avait pas assez de passagers dans cette dernière section ? Problème d'électrification ? Car selon les photos que je vois, il n'y a pas de caténaire dans cette dernière partie.
Thanks for this video; a very rare recording. I was surprised that the modernization wasn't complete. There are still stretches of track with old sleepers. With the electrification a wonderful line has been created for special trains with old ÖBB electric locomotives. It would be great to see a 1245 or a 1670 on that line. I'm looking forward to new videos. I would be really interested in a cab view recording of Villach - Lienz; it does not exist on TH-cam.
Around @13:00-14:00 the tracks going off to/joining from the right are actually leading to one of the largest marshalling yards in Austria, and the container terminal Villach. The line from Hermagor used to continue to Kötschach-Mauthen at the end of the valley. Weirdly enough that section was closed down at the same time the first half to Hermagor was modernized and electrified 😞 Now a private society/club tries to revive it at least for freight and tourist traffic.

Thanks for this picturesque video on a beautiful day in Austria. I noticed old and new sleepers as someone else commented still needing more work I guess. Pretty fast approaches to stations. Seeing windows on fashionable trains upper and lower or was the opposite covered or different livery? Were they double deck or? I was looking for that narrow gauge rail to go off up into the mountains but perhaps a different area?
@geoffreymoore1510 I am not sure about the narrow gauge lines, still have to study a bit, but will definitely go back and film some lines that possibly run up to the mountains...

Der 54-jährige Lokführer des privaten EVU, der mit seinem GZ die Flankenfahrt herbeigeführt hatte, bestätigte bei seiner behördlichen Einvernahme, dass an seiner Lok das Zugsicherungssystem defekt gewesen sei. Presseberichten gemäß habe er dies der Fahrdienstleitung mitgeteilt und seine Fahrt Richtung Villach Westbf fortgesetzt, wo eine Ersatzlok des privaten EVU bereitstand. Durch das Umschalten des Ausfahrsignals auf Halt (es sei plötzlich von Grün auf Rot gegangen), habe er jedoch seinen GZ nicht mehr anhalten können. Dieses "Umspringen" des AS auf Halt wurde nicht bestätigt. Auch nicht, dass, wie behauptet, eine Weiterfahrt mit Vmax 100 km/h zulässig gewesen sei. Aufgrund dieses Vorfalls wurde verfügt, dass mit Loks, bei denen im laufenden Betrieb das Zugsicherungssystem ausfällt, wenn überhaupt, dann nur mit Vmax 50 km/h die Fahrt fortgesetzt werden darf (z.B., um als GZ nicht auf freier Strecke liegenzubleiben).

@javierguidounicaud6621 The last section (30 kilometers) of this track [of the Gailtal Railway] ends in Kötschach-Mauthen. As of December 2016, railway passenger transport between Hermagor and Kötschach-Mauthen was discontinued. Since then, buses have been replacing the train. Trains with destination Lienz run via Spittal an der Drau and diverge at Lendorf junction to continue towards Lienz.
@@RailRelaxation Thats not correct. This line (the "Gailtalbahn") runs from Arnoldstein to Hermagor. Befor 2016 the line went on to Kötschach/Mauthen, a village approx. 30 km to the west. This part was not modernised and closed für public transport. At the moment consultations are under way what to do with those 30 km of track with 11 stations. The line to Lienz is north of the "Gailtalbahn", is called "Drautalbahn" and starts at Spittal/Millstättersee to Lienz and onwards to San Candido/Innichen und Fortezza. This is a part of the old "Drautalbahn", build around 1865, which ran from Maribor via Bleiburg, Klagenfurt, Villach and Spittal/Drau.
Just one of many crazy regulations thanks to the European Union.... same stupid thing like the announcements on bord: "Exit on the left/right side!" I always wonder, how our ancestors were able to use trains for more then 175 years without that....

The answer is simple. For more then 25 years all was done to make the line unattractive. Crazy timetables, no good connections, old carriages ecc. So nearly everybody in this valley owns a car, and no one - except pupils for their way to school - needs the trains nowadays.
