Maybe he meant more or less something that helps your weapon be effective, since raiden had to replace his entire body in order to properly fight Sam, whereas sam barely had any enhanced limbs (not counting his right arm), Sam is pure Skill and Hard work where raiden is a full cyborg. Thus Katana Man feels more "natural" to be Sam since he needs absolute precision and Raiden as CSM since he can swing his chainsaws like a madman. (Not saying Raiden does not have skill or talent, he is a full beast in his own)

Given the fact I've used several types weapons of in my hands, I can't help but wonder how practical/unpractical a weapon that is one of your limbs would be in a real fight.
If one of your body parts was a sharp object, swinging it around wouldn't be as difficult, you just have a weaker range of movement because it's literally a part of you.
It would be both. It provides greater defense and more close range mobility, but there’s no “pendulum” like motion giving swords extra strength and speed. Also since they’re inbetween your limbs, there’s no guards so the outside of your hands or forearms are getting ripped to shreds. Just normal weapons would be better but the weapon limbs do provide some pros.
Well, since the final point of acceleration before the tip of the blade would be your elbow, you wouldn't be able to generate as much force per swing. In addition, your hands would have no defence, and part of swordplay is being able to quickly redirect force and momentum using the wrists and hand grips, your swings would probably be a lot more predictable and be harder to change their arc, like overcomitting to a punch. On the plus side though, you'd be impossible to disarm without dismemberment, and you'd be really hard to defend against if you had slightly shorter blades, but fought with thrusts, almost like boxing, instead of slashes. Thrusts are incredibly difficult to defend against without practice or without a shield, so if you have blades built into your hands, extending your reach an extra 1-2 feet, and you could throw quick body/head jabs like a boxer, you could probably stab someone to death really quickly and they'd have almost no defence.
Oh yeah, Raiden, Sam, Armstrong and/or other cast of the franchise just happened to teleport to their dimension and having a death battle or a much deeper lore also with Kojima writing. Fantastic.

I think one of the coolest not talked about features in this fight is how when CSM and the katana devil clash and hold each others blades together there is this violent rattle from CSMs saws

so much of the lyrics are so in line with Denji's character it's insane, since throughout alot of Act 1 denji is but a tool acting on the whims of people above him, whether it be the yakuza to pay off his fathers debt, or Makima, and since a kid it's been like this which makes "The only thing I know for real is, there will be blood shed" so SO fitting
I just realized how convenient it was the the blade guy followed him onto the train roof after throwing him over a few city blocks. Would have been real hard to find him again if he just transformed back into human after that and left the scene like a real criminal would have done.
Am I the only one who finds it a little inconvenient that the blades (not just "Katana Devil's" swords but also Denji's saws) come out of their arms in the angle they do? Maybe I've just seen way too much stuff of armblades being over the actual arm, like how Gipsy Danger from Pacific Rim has it, but it just seems a little unorthadox to me. But, hey, if it works and it splits the bad guy down the middle, like how Dai Atlas did to Predaking in "Transformers Zone," I'm cool with it

one tiny detail I never noticed until rewatching this for the 2nd time is that Denji actually kicks out when they trade blows pause at 1:55 you'll see what I mean this is an amazing little detail because it happened so fast the viewer could have easily missed it the first time around, but you can look back and realize they were foreshadowing the twist and Denji's victory strategy
