I like the stage 3 the stage 2 grill with the silver trim across the grill is to me not very appealing. You made a great choice the side skirts definitely help with the rock chips. I have a 2018 Camaro SS I need the backseat if you can call it a seat. The ZL1 is a little bit much for me. I also don’t have a garage so to keep a ZL1 outside is not a good idea. You explained the different aero for the Z06 to a tee.Great video and enjoy driving it 😎
Great video, thanks for breaking down the differences. I am in the process of purchasing a dark blue c7 z06 with stage 3s asid from stage 2 on the wing. Will go well with my c6...😎 yours is a beaut!
@horsepowerobsessed I recently purchased a 2019 torch red Z06 3lZ and I would like to purchase the stage three front arrow in exposed carbon fiber that would match OEM quality as much as possible. Which company do you recommend I go with if you can please give me some advice. I would be very appreciative. As stock to the OEM fitment and look is what I’m after.
The only company that I have personally seen tested to fit the stock splitter is EOS. You can buy them direct from my store here: www.horsepowerobsessed.com/collections/2014-2019-corvette/products/c7-corvette-stage-3-front-splitter-wickerbill-extension-winglets
great video...i did either read an article or see a video presentation by Tadge stating the stage 3 aero produces too much drag for the grand sport model considering its 460 hp. The stage 3 aero is not offered for the grand sport!
sat in a carbon 65 ZO6 yesterday and the seats were so small that it bothered my back. Can I find a C7 ZO6/ZO7 without the comp seats that would be more comfy on long drives or do they come with just the Competition seats? I'm interested in c6 ZR1 but am feeling the C7 ZO6 is a more modern car but those comp seats kill me....I'm 6'3 240 the bolsters are what is killing me....Thank you
Nice video and thank you...I have a comment and a couple questions. I am in the market for a 2016 Z06 and in looking at the current (2019) configuration tool it looks like you can pay (option) to get the side skirt and CF hood scoop and CF Z06 Supercharged quarter panel styling element painted body color and I believe I have found such a car in a 2016 3ZL Z06 vert. My questions are; do all 3ZL's come with the side skirts? The car I am looking at is a non Z07 packaged car. Also the car I am looking at has yellow calipers...the first I have seen...she's a white vert Z06 (non Z07) with Kalahari interior and top so yeah the yellow calipers look gorgeous. Just trying to make sure I understand what I am buying. As I said above this car is all white including the hood, side skirts (as they match the body it is hard to tell what is there, thus my question about do all 3ZL's have side skirts) and the Z06 Supercharged side panel. I had a Porsche 997 TT that had all the "lower bits" painted the body color option so this effect in a Z06 really strikes my fancy. Any feedback would be appreciated as I am new to vettes (well I did have a '65 roadster 396/425 HP vette when I was a puppy, but that was a LONG time ago).
You’re putting out some damn good info on C7 Z06, keep being a Vette informant!!!! On to my question: WIth the all the different aftermarket aero add on brands out there, who do you think is producing the better quality aero for stage 3? My top choices are GM, APR, and ACS Composites but I’m not sure of the differences in quality among each of them. And to take it even further down the line what your take on EOS aero parts because they look identical in design.
Thank you! I'm definitely a Vette guy for life so you can count on that information continuing to come! I would personally recommend staying OEM if you can for the aero pieces, but with that said I have a lot of experience with ACS composite pieces as well and they're very high quality, too. For the most part you really can't go wrong with either one I personally try to stick with OEM anytime I can just for peace of mind.
One of the best places to check is the Corvette forums. a lot of people are selling stuff like this all the time. You can also check Amazon and eBay for the same kind of deals. ACS composite might be a little bit cheaper than OEM if you want to go that route. I have a few parts from ACS on my Corvette and I can definitely speak to their quality.
Jason, appreciate the explanation of the aero packages. Less than 4 weeks and counting before my new ride arrives! I have a question for you? Are the extended front wheel splash guards ACS? And do you have the ACS XL wheel rock guards on the rear? Blue skies, Jg
Great Video, but one question: You quoted down force numbers for Stages 1,2 and 3. Those must correspond to a particular speed. The higher the speed, the higher the down force and drag. Do you know what speed those numbers are matched to?
@@HorsePowerObsessed Good to know. It’s important to understand, because downforce and drag are proportional to velocity squared. So if you start from whatever that number is (let’s say 120mph) and then cut the speed by half (to 60mph), the downforce is cut down to 1/4 of the quoted value. So you could go from 200lbs downforce to 50lbs downforce.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Roger that. I'm not trying to speed around in my vette, it's a rolling billboard for my business, on the highway I'll usually do the speed limit or just under it and on the roads the same, I'm thinking I'll never know the difference on MPG in either scenario..?
Probably not huge, but it will be there even with just daily driving so if you don't plan on pushing it to its limits you might just not have the center wicker bill in the upmost position.
Hey Jason. Well, I think you covered all the salient points on the aero packages. NIce. Now, how about a trivia question, which maybe is not so trivial. On the Stage 3 spoiler, why the name "Wicker Bill" for the center section? It's not made of wicker and does not have the shape of any bird's "bill" that I've ever seen. Maybe it's the nick name of the desginer? Now stop laughing. It's details like this that keep me up at night. Kinda like what is the ft.inch torque spec on the wicker bill's mounting screws. Hey, if I'm up, I'm going to keep someone else up. lol Save the Wave.
You are awesome, I couldn't find much detailed info online on the packages etc aero, I talked to a dealer last month and he had no idea what the hell he was talking about ( he actually opened the z06 I was looking at and dinged the Maserati beside it @#$%^&*()^&*(), I was about to comment you and ask about the aero after I watched the video on the trim packages, then your aero video started playing haha. Thank you. Any specific requests for further information?
Justin, awesome video bro in letting folks know about the differences between the different stage aero packages. 👍🏽
Thank you!
I’m rewatching this 😂 I just pushed button and purchased the stage 3 ... yep 💪💯💯 you guys are peer pressure 👏😉

HorsePower Obsessed you know of any online discounted OEM places, I’m trying to avoid paying full price thru the dealer.

Question: Here in Germany the Z06 has red taillights. Are the clear taillights a special option in the US or standard?
Thank you.
They are clear standard here in the US. Only red tail lights overseas.
@@HorsePowerObsessed thank you

Where can I buy that wicker bill with the Z06 logo on it like yours?
That is the GM oem wicker bill.

Great Video, but one question: You quoted down force numbers for Stages 1,2 and 3. Those must correspond to a particular speed. The higher the speed, the higher the down force and drag. Do you know what speed those numbers are matched to?
Thanks. I got the numbers straight from GM but a speed was never attached to them. I'd guess triple digit numbers for sure.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Good to know. It’s important to understand, because downforce and drag are proportional to velocity squared. Hey man, 3 MPG loss in what situation? What speed would you have to achieve in order to really begin the adverse MPG scenario?
They never said a speed required to see that loss so it must just be an average of normal driving speeds.
@@HorsePowerObsessed gotcha, that's a pretty heavy loss of it's realized overall at all speeds. Cost of vanity!
Not just vanity. It adds a lot of down force keeping those rear tires on the ground.
@@HorsePowerObsessed Roger that. I'm not trying to speed around in my vette, it's a rolling billboard for my business, on the highway I'll usually do the speed limit or just under it and on the roads the same, I'm thinking I'll never know the difference on MPG in either scenario..?

Well, two out of three ain't bad. lol

Not Positive but pretty sure the stage 3 side skirt is a few Millimeters wider on top of what You mentioned.
Interesting! If that's true that's cool.
I’m trying to figure out how in the heck did my Z06 come with stage two rear wing but stage one front wing?!
🤦🏾♂️
Someone probably added it.. maybe a dealer option?
@@HorsePowerObsessed Yeah I think that's what happened, that or they removed the front to keep from damaging it. 👨🏾🔧
