WORKSHOP SAFETY:
================================
As always you are responsible for your own safety in your workshop, so do your own research, and come to your own conclusions about what is or isn't safe in your specific situation. If you see anything in my videos which you think is unsafe or ill-advised please let me know in the comments.
Well done Simon, that came out well in the end, wood turning is so much fun, so it's never a chore to practice to get better !
Yes, ideally you want your rest to be as close to the workpiece as possible as it gives you more control and there is less leverage on the front of the tool due to the shorter over-hang which can prove dangerous if it digs in !
Yes, thanks for the advice :-)
Hi keep the toolrest as close as possible, 3 to 6 mm is typical, Kelv, Dartford Kent.
Thanks for the tip Kelv, good to know :-)
Hi
I think you pulled it off quite well 😅😅😅
All the very best

Thanks 👍
New things can be a learning curve but you did well, did you sort your t/saw fence from flexing?
I've not looked at it yet, I sort of concluded that I'd be better using the fence more traditionally and next time building a jig to hold tge work piece
Wood turning on a metal lathe, this is a NO NO, in my book. Never get all dust removed. Nice job.
Thanks, there is quite a bit of debate on the matter, If you have room for both that is the ideal.
Turned out nice thx for sharing We all have learning curves Keep building Cheers
Thanks 👍
I like your work I don't have a lathe a don't have room for one but would like to be able to have one
Well done looks amazing ❤
Thank you very much!
Nice video thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
It looks as though the tool rest was not tightened fully in it's holder as you can see it moving as you run the chisels along it. Maybe this played a part in the uneven surface?
Hi, in a previous video I pointed this out, it's actually a manufacturing defect, or perhaps a poor design, it's held with a spring pin and the hole is in the wrong place by about 0.25mm, It's on my list of things to fix!
Good result Simon! Well done.
It’s time to tweak that tool rest mount.
@alanscheckenbach5265 all sorted now 😀
@@DIYTinkerer good work!
