Diecast Restoration Corgi toys Commer Holiday bus no/508 1968/69

corgi toys commer holiday bus, this particular one only ran in production for a year ,its the same casting as the film crew bus .

G day Martin wonderful job as always they really come to life with the fine detailing on the lights, grill, and bumpers. I remember the old Commer vans they just about used them for everything at one stage a bit like the VW van. In the late 70s my brother had an old Bedford van he used it for his crash repair business. Being in a band he would use it to take the band gear to gigs and such. One very hot summer we had a show out in the country so the van was stacked up to roof level. Unfortunately my brother decided to put his guitar right on top of the pile of gear very close to the roof of the van. When we got there and he opened his guitar case he found his guitar was warped from the heat and completely ruined. I now always put my guitar in the car with me and put the aircon on when it gets that hot. My duo mate used to do a John Lennon show and went on tour around Australia, they supplied all the equipment so all he had to do was get to the venue with his outfits. In Sydney he got a phone call asking what guitar he wanted to use and they hired a Fender Telecaster for the night for him. What was funny was when he arrived at the venue in an old beat up taxi a limo pulled up out front and a bloke jumped out with the guitar and delivered it. The guitar was obviously way more impotent than he was lol.😂😂😂🤣 Stay safe mate and I'll catch you on the next one.👍

Great story, life on the road good stuff brilliant memories, yes these old commers were our answer to the VW ,just as versatile and still around today.

Our local lords taverners used these but with a built up roof and in a shiny pea green they looked great our schools helped out the local what you would call now special needs children we would help them ,when I joined the post my office had two van versions but had black headlight and radiator grill surround and badged as a dodge ,they always remind me of the hover vans in joe 90 ,all the best mate

Tricky masking, but cracking result, Martin. I need to get myself some Commers to do - I really like the variation in the Corgi models and they'll lend themselves to my favourite Code3 activity! Not been doing anything myself - trapped nerve in the neck sends a tasering to my shoulder - not good when trimming door handles!

Corgi seemed to have a love affair with this Commer casting.All those interchangeable one's,this,the camera van lost count of how many they actually did.nice clean resto.why only the one 'Holiday Camp Special' decal?

Thanks Terry, the decals on the one side ,I would imagine is because the other side has the sliding door and would mean separating the decal into sections, just my thoughts on it .
Thy certainly did like this casting, having said that the van version is more expensive to get then the others .

Yes probably is. The original corgi only had the one side done ,and when you buy the decals you only get one side .
So this is what I went with , it does look odd I must admit.
