    Update on this one ,apparently the back ram was assembled wrong at the factory, so with paul James(pimp my diecast) help via messenger as he had one .I removed the ram arm from the belt frame and rotated the plastic arm and replaced the ram .
    So both square pieces are at the top .
    Thanks Paul we learn something new every day.

    Just finished final assembly on your kind donation of the summer, Martin, and can honestly say that without this video, I'd have been screwed! Managed it with hardly any paint loss using toothpicks to guide and a plastic straw to stretch warmed belts over the spindles. Terrific: could not have done it without the video!

    Blimey Martin, that one fought you all the way lol, when you were undoing it I was thinking that would be a good restoration to try in the future, then when you were reassembling it I thought, mmmmm maybe not such a good one to do after all lol, you did a fantastic job on it though and it is a nice model, as you say it’s a shame that back part doesn’t go to the floor but that’s just the way the model was made. It’s inevitable that the paint will get chipped with all those parts to get back together, I had a fair bit of touching up to do on those combines I did, I guess it goes with the territory, non the less, another beautiful restoration and a very enjoyable video, all the very best for your operation on your eye, take care, Nick.

    I had one of these new, as a nipper., and the tailboard loading platform DID go flat to the ground: I think it came with three plastic hay bales.
    I'd love to restore one now, despite the complications and my general aversion to moving parts! I suspect the bigger-than-necessary hole on the bed floor was to accommodate the Simon platform Cherry Picker version (which came with a plastic lamp-post, if memory serves!) of this Jeep. There were quite a few variations as I remember it. No surprise that you managed a cracking restoration of it though - we have come to expect no less! Great save!

    Nice one Martin. This was a tricky one but I'm sure whoever was putting them together at the factory could do each one in seconds. I never had this one a a kid, although I did have the forward control Jeep, with the plastic hood. Funnily enough, apart from the odd tractors and trailers, I didn't have much farm equipment. The only other agricultural stuff I remember having was a Matchbox combine in each scale, 1:76(ish) and 1:43(King-size). They both ended-up as "outside" vehicles and got pretty beaten up. Your videos have a habit of making me think about stuff that I didn't even know I remembered.😁
    Cheers for now,
    Dougie.

    • @martindaredare
      @martindaredare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Martin, another lovely restoration, and very enjoyable video. I've just sent you an email with a couple of photos of my Jeep Conveyor model. The rear conveyors on the one I have now and the one I had as a small boy both went down to the ground. My rear black plastic hydraulic ram part is fitted with the flat bit at the top so there is no restriction on the rear conveyor lowering. I'm sure yours was fitted upside down. Hope all goes well with your eye operation. Take care, all the best. Peter.

Good tip about taking photos before stripping it down maybe if I'd of thought of that I wouldn't have so many spare parts for my MG and I'd know where that elephant trunk thing go's 🤔lol. Hi Martin.
    Hope you are doing okay.
    Thank you for your video which I very much enjoyed.
    I have been waiting for you to do this resto ever since you featured the toy on one of your monthly purchases video.
    It goes to show how well Corgi designed and built this wonderful little toy for thousands of kids to enjoy back in the day
    I have a base of one of these to restore without the top conveyor belt section so could you please let me know which red and yellow paints you used so I can have a go myself.
    I restored an early basic model recently and finished it in a beautiful Hycote Bermuda Blue.
    Got it all glued back together and was admiring my handy work when I noticed I had forgotten to put the spare wheel in !
    Such a stupid basic mistake to make but that's all part of the fun.
    I hope your eye operation goes well on the 8th Martin and I look forward to the next video.
    All the best.
    David.

      Hi David I used hycote paint the red was Toyota red 3E5 and the yellow was van AA yellow.
      I have done the same thing myself so your not alone, glad you liked it .

    Very entertaining…….. and informative (as in do not touch one of these with a ten foot pole unless you have a degree in Advanced Swearing!) I would also suggest never giving this hobby up in favour of singing 🤣
    Really good job, looks great and I was agog all the way through 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻

      Yes the singing was the icing on the cake 😄😄 it wasn't as bad as it looked but i made a couple of daft mistakes witch I left in to show people.
      But you need to watch the bad language 🙊

    did you use the rams the right way around martin .. is one shorter than the other ??

    • @pimpmydiecastsdiecastandto3176
      @pimpmydiecastsdiecastandto3176 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      looks like the ram is hitting the grey cage stopping it from dropping fully

    • @pimpmydiecastsdiecastandto3176
      @pimpmydiecastsdiecastandto3176 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sussed it ... both blocks on the black plastic rams should be at the top the rear is upside down not allowing it to drop fully

    • @martindaredare
      @martindaredare  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No prize for you paul tried that the lugs on the frame won't let you do it and it won't go together right .apparently the back doesn't go right down .

    • @martindaredare
      @martindaredare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it just fits in ,the ram bottoms out .

    • @martindaredare
      @martindaredare  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both rams outer and inner are the same size. The only way would be to cut down the plastic ram at the back and nip a bit off the inner rod .
      Thanks Paul for your input 👍

  • @ianhow100
    @ianhow100 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not for the faint hearted is it. Admit the back one was a pig. I didn't think to warm the belts up 1st. I fitted the pins & rollers 1st & stretched the belts over it

    • @martindaredare
      @martindaredare  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Ian, you certainly were not joking.
      Managed to get the back ramp to go right down, apparently some of the plastic rams were put in upside down at the factory, so turned it up the other way and all is fine now .

      @@martindaredare I did one for a young lad for Christmas. Think I've got a bit of work to do. One thing you didn't show was something I sidestepped. Didnt know if you did the same. The original had warning chevrons on the tail ramp. Figure with a bit of jiggery poker, you could paint them on or get a decal for it. A one off really in my books, any worth any expense. Assuming one is available
