This is very similar to what I do with the coffees I roast at home. There's always a little at the end of the bag that isn't enough for a batch. So the beans just get added to a bag with other leftovers. And after I've got enough in that bag from several coffee types for at least two batches… I'll roast them. I call them "Mulligan's Brew."

When he read the list of teas in the blend I practically swooned. Such a big list of iconic Mei Leaf teas. I’ve been following Mei Leaf for less than a year, but I could still picture the wrapper art for most of them

Never thought I'd get an infinity bottle episode from a tea channel 😂.
Maybe Mei Leaf could do a special anniversary blend tea cake when the occasion calls for it. Would be amazing.
But please, go on about these legacy white tea blends. I'd BIN.

I actually mixed two teas for the live session the other day, one was a 2021 raw from yiwu and the other was yg22 and man, it was a wild taste. The fruit and creaminess in the aftertaste was astonishing. Like a fruit cream flavor, a winner for sure.

Genius! I will definitely try this. A tea friend of mine collects all the samples he gets in a year and makes a cuviée. He just recently tryed one and was surprised how good it was even though these teas didn't made it into his collection. I just bought new clay jars to do the same. Thank you for reminding me, I ment to do this for a long time.

I've been waiting for something like this. I don't want to throw anything out, but didn't know exactly what to do with the last bits of tea. Thank you again for good information, and a fresh new direction to experience. And Happy Birthday to Mei Leaf!!

I love this idea! I just bought a cake of Ballpit Tycoon on sale (lucky me) and now I'm thinking I could combine it with Bling Rock King Pin and Kickback Champ in the future. I can only wonder what will happen.

I do something similar with pipe tobaccos! I realised a few years ago, to my amusement, that I tend to like 'expensive leaves'. You can guess another expensive leaf I enjoy.
I imagine a primary criterium for creating a blend is to choose leaves with similar brewing requirements (temperature, brewing time etc.)

It's like the random or torrent gray from a paint manufacturer, the remains of the pigments are always collected between the individual colours when they are manufactured
and packed in a container and at the end of a year new paint are made from the mixture.
The only thing I ever mixed was some tea that only tastes like apricots with other green teas that went well with the apricot aroma.
I have a couple of very different oolongs, once I've started all of them I can make a little blend of 5 teas.

Tuning in with a session of nut charmer. Also, I didn't plan this beforehand, but ended up making muesli for breakfast. So an all around nutty breakfast here.

I like making blends of my teas ❤❤❤ I'll take maybe 10-15 grams of the tea I want and I break it up and put it in a jar I have and enjoy 😊😊😊❤❤❤

I actually like blending my teas when making my masala chai…
Assam for the body, Keemun for flavour and Kenyan marinyin for some some extra sharpness-as masala chai is anyway a blend of spices, I feel this is actually a must-do 😊

a tea shop i like used to sell a particular blend of black and green teas around the holidays that they’ve since discontinued, and this past season i took it upon myself to try to replicate it! i know for sure it’s got jasmine green in there, i’ve just got to figure out which black teas work best with that.

hey Don, wondering if you've ever done videos on food and tea...as im always curious as to what you and the fam drink during lunches, dinners and what foods you choose to pair with, or maybe you dont drink tea with certain meals and go for beers, wine, etc.

Great idea 🤔 It is like making your own factory tea. I know that this is different, but you get a little bit of each tea you put in and this builds a lot of complexity, just like it have the factory pu'er teas. Maybe I will try it 🤔

Was geeking out with the owner of a teashop that I recently found that recomended your channel such a great find. Time to start working on my own legacy Pu Er blend. Gonna start with a 1996 Pu Er that I have that have this very earthy tone now to figure out what else to put in it. Could you use a Yao Bao in a white tea blend?

Decided to watch this again, thinking of my white tea legacy blend. (Has a range of teas from Meileaf and 2 other sellers)
Wow, does it have a strong body sensation, a couple steeps in, and I will already be feeling the effects of the tea. I'm almost out of it now, though, and I can not remake it. (It had 2015 white peony in it).
I'm thinking of doing a Moonlight White Legacy next, when a container becomes available/emptied for it)

Very interesting video. I have been doing this for awhile with teas that I think are flawed in some way. For instance I have a expensive sheng puerh that I find bitter, so I mix it with other puerhs that are fruity and earthy. Its been successful and like everything the more experience you get the better the results.

I have been mixing my 2-3 leftovers where I have last few grams that wouldnt be enough for one session. It is mostly punk way rather than keeping it with more or less same types (but not sencha + puerh type of punk)

  • @askialuna7717

I once found loose tea online that was called something with eight treasures and is a mixture of various cheaper green and one or two types of white tea.
So chung mee, china sencha, gunpowder, white peony, lung ching and so on.
I was also wondering whether something like this makes sense or whether it is too unbalanced and too many different ones or the quantities are moderately too weak
and there is only a diffuse blend of aromas which are very weak.

"some times the tea may be so mad you dont like it"
One reason maybe continuously adding fresh tea is good. Same thing with sourdough starter. Some times you get that clasic sour smell and sometimes it smells like nail polish remover. Still good starter but when you mix fresh flour and let it sit all better. You don't like flavor, as you use up the tea mix in a new one that may ballence it out.

My favorite sheng puerh flavor profiles are aged "wood" and young juicy/fruity. This gives me an idea to mix the two and see what happens.

It's probably a bad idea to take Pro-IM long-term because it was intended as a 2-week course. If I were you, I'd call the Chinalife (TCM section) of Mei Leaf and ask if they can recommend a daily immune boost for your mom. Cheers
PS/ Nice Gretsch. I always wanted a White Eagle like Depeche Mode.
