We weren’t able to get through History and Science like I wanted until we switched to ACE. My kids love being able to do those subjects independently. We switched to it this year from Notgrass and Apologia. It has been night and day difference. My kids had a hard time focusing on those subjects while I read it with them. They are able to focus so much better with ACE.
We are in the same boat with math. We've had to step back and work on some of the topics. I want to make sure my daughter grasps the topic before we move on.
Even though homeschooling didn’t quite go the way I wanted, it was a success in my opinion because all my kids have made huge progress. My 3 year old knows all of his recognizes all the letter and sounds, he is tracing really well and writing some letters independently and knows how to spell his name. My 5 year old is reading really well, handwriting has improved and he is doing great in maths. Homeschool didn’t mainly go as planned because I wanted to used the Abeka curriculum which I’m really familiar with but I ended up using spectrum. It was a good substitute though. We enjoyed using it. I also used some school zone books because we finished spectrum fast
Science Shepherd is great!! I switched to that last year because we weren’t getting to science and it’s been so nice. They watch a video with the lesson and there’s a workbook that goes with it.
This video was very encouraging. We didn't get much history or science done either. My kids just aren't old enough for unit studies I think. They do so much better with library books that are really well done.
THANK YOU for normalizing not being able to get to all the electives. Mine are 6, 4, and almost 2 and I'm pregnant with our 4th and so much of our time is just math and language arts and bible and thats all we've got. Science has been VERY hit and miss and social studies is pretty non existent besides just random chapter books. BLeh!
Thanks! I know the toddler struggle. I have a 2 and 3 year old
Yesss!

That’s awesome to hear! I may look into that!

I think that is perfectly sufficient for the little years

I think sticking with the basics in the little years is totally fine! You’ll have many years for all the other things!
