We just finished week 6 of our homeschool and changed Language Arts as well. We are using TGTB K as a supplement and switched from AAR to Logic Of English. I realized my 6 year old is VERY logical. So after harping on the sound ă then introducing ä later was frustrating him because he didn’t know why. I’m praying this helps. We also love fall-schooling and will be looking into Apologia science, because this is the 3rd time today someone has mentioned they’re loving it!
I love your videos! Thank you for sharing and for being a positive light in this space. I always find such encouragement from your videos!!
You are so welcome! Thanks for being here!
Sooo many great curriculums in this video! Thanks for sharing! We are currently reading about Amy Carmichael in our homeschool co-op. I think adding the “to every nation” would be great as we continue through the year
Yes!! It’s so good!
Reading, spelling, and math (AAR, AAS, and MWC) are the only things we didn’t change from day one to week 11 currently. We’ve used these resources every year and love them!
However, grammar and writing is what always has to be tweaked every year. At least that’s been the trend anyways. Oh. My. Word. We dropped stuff completely, added things in very temporarily, dropped down a level in two things, and added a wonderful literature component that we’ve been missing/lacking.
Each year that we’ve homeschooled has been a huge learning curve for all of us and has taken us through a lot of trial and error, but I think we’ve arrived at a beautiful place where we can just buy the next level for every subject! We’re just over a quarter of the way through year three of homeschool and we feel 100% content with all of the resources we’re using 🙌🏻. We’re so very thankful for that!
This is our first year using Typesy as well and my kids are LOVING it! I didn’t give my kindergartener an account at first, but she begged for one and so I created one. She is obsessed with it! She will do lesson after lesson, if I let her!
I’m so glad you guys love it!
I had the same experience with my 5 year old with TG&B! My gut feeling was to start with All Aboit Reading from the get go this year, but it was a little more expensive and we had done so great with TG&B preschool and kindergarten prep, so I went with what we knew. But, I’m SO GLAD we switched over to All about reading because it’s going a lot better and teaching the phonics, phonograms better! Reading is such an important part of their education… like the most important, so I was super stressed about this. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one!
I totally agree!! glad you guys have found something that works! You cannot beat AAR!
My kids also love Typesy and beg to do it!
isn't it the best?
This year is going great! We school year round so we are on all 10. I love taking most breaks in fall and winter!
Yes same here! Glad your year is going so well!
Typesy is great I agree. We are using it for our older kids ages 10-15. Love that it has appropriate levels for each age.
me too! it's awesome!
My oldest is going through the same study for History. We aren't super far in yet, but it's so great!
Awesome!
What do you use for a planer?
I use a simple plan
It’s the name of the planner. Amazon
