Ken T agreed, they need to hit up the Iowa Great Lakes and the Nebraska Sand Hills.
Nebraska Sandhills are on the short term hit list. This extreme cold has really opened some destinations!
What's your go to rod and reel combination?
Our favorite walleye rod is the Tuned Up Custom Commander with a Okuma Helios size 20 reel.

Would love to see you do an episode with gear that the average Joe could afford. Would love to see how you would perform. Cause it's kinda of hard for your average person to have $1000 in gear to ice fish with
You can use the cheaper stuff and do just fine, I use a vex fl8 rigged with my helix for GPS had vexilar for 20 years and helix for 5 for the boat and ice. Never owned a ice combo that cost more than 30 bucks location location location is key. Cheap equipment will work if in the same location. See it every spring as tournament guys always seem to follow me and my little boat around when river fishing eyes me with my cheap gear vs them with 60k boat 5k in electronics and thousands in rods . Follow the location tips and your gear will work just fine
@@kylecasetta4091 that's my point. Do a show showing that you don't need a rod and reel setup that costs $280. This combo for $30 from cabelas can get the job done to. You go to there forum and ask a ice rod question and 9/10 will tell you that you a TUCR. All I'm saying is that I would just to see them do an episode where there not using the best ice fishing gear money can buy.
Sponsors that's why, tucr and rest pay them to use their stuff so we can watch. Could be st croix or g Loomis what ever. People need to worry less about what they're using and more on how they're using it. Personally a vexilar fan and jiffy augers guy doesn't mean cant find pointers on where when and why. Could really care less what rod or flasher they use.
They would have caught fish with Fl-8’s and $30 combos.... why not use the nice gear if you have it?

How do you guys fish slab raps I just got some and was up there had one of my best days for numbers out of Zippel 100 fish between 3 and a limit. But I would get fish to come look at it and after that shoot back down I tried pounding it just a regular jig and even ripping it a tiny bit more. What do you guys suggest to get them to finally commit.

No smallies on this trip. We don't usually run into the smallmouth on reefs until later in the winter.
