Another comprehensive and complete evaluation with raw unbiased data for everyone to see for themselves and base their purchase on. Thanks for doing this as without it, the masses would be lacking any REAL numbers to compare. Still baffling why you don't have 100K followers. Cheers!
9:55 this is what I've been wanting to see! All the 18V tools with a 5-cell packs are beating the 12V tools with 6-cell packs (tied for Makita). And that's with the M12 using the better Samsung 25S cells. I wish brands would put better cells in their slim packs.
I’m going to keep it a year in hopes we see a M18. Maybe at that point Makita releases a pouch cell or at the very least 21700s. If not I will test it like you said with another brands 21700s
@Tools-Tested I'm very skeptical of 21700s making it to LXT. Makita users have been asking since 2018. I think there's too many small issues that add up to Makita not wanting to do it: incompatibility with X2 tools; possibly overdriving existing tools; extra mass that the connectors weren't designed for; and extra components needed inside the pack. LXT packs have 3x30A fuses in parallel, a 60A mosfet, and 2 current shunts in parallel. A 21700 LXT would prob need 5-6x fuses, 2x mosfets, and 3-4 shunts. If you look at all the recent LXT exclusive tools, they're mostly light weight. This cutoff tool, one-handed recip, mini chainsaw, pruning shears, ratchet, small rotohammer (~20% lighter than the small XGT rotohammer). Bigger LXT batteries don't really fit into that picture. However, they have recently announced a 12V pack that's almost certainly using 21700s, so who knows. Makita is always hard to predict.
And idk if youve screwed around with the ryobi and or ridgid ones lately since the new tabless cell batteries for em dropped.... the new ryobi edge battery makes the ryobi cutoff like twice as powerful it feels... and ill assume the ridgid is even better. Would love to see an update on some of these w newer better batteries
These are useful when angle grinders are just too big or cumbersome. For example, I had to cut out my dishwasher because of clearance issues (height was actually slightly bigger than floor to counter clearance), and I used the cut off tool with guard to minimize collateral damage. I did use angle grinder w/ abrasive wheel for a couple unreachable parts, but with angle grinder alone, the dishwasher stainless tub is very little resistance and was harder to control in such a small space with a variable substrate.
@@Tools-TestedYeah I saw it on amazon. I'm hoping for that magical $99 bare tool deal. I know I can get it as a free tool on some battery kits, but I already bought a few powerstack kits so I'm good on batteries.
Love the comparison with the full battery lineup for each in plain speak with graph's. Talk about dotting your i's and crossing your t's throughout! Thanks & Subscribed!
For me, the point of that mini grinders is them to be mini. So only Bosch or Milwaukee is passing the test. With he size of the 18/20v presented, you have 125mm disc angle grinder.
3:05.. the Ridgid should run with (or close to) the 12ah with a 9ah Octane battery... the Ridgid is a solid value The Octane batteries bump up performance across the board for the Ridgid..they have 3ah, 6ah, and 9ah..
I would love to see these retested using diamond metal cutting wheels like diablo and lennox make. To see if the motors perform any differently. I have the m12 with the lennox blade and it seems to bog down a little more than black abrasive cutting disks
Sadly I have already sold 3/4s of them, that way I can buy other tools for testing. I wouldn’t want anything 12v for that type of work and would recommend the Dewalt or even the Ridgid but the Ridgid doesn’t have dust collection.
I've been wanting this tool for awhile. I only need it a few x a year, i guess it's worth the $190 regardless, better for those who use it all the time
Phenomenal video my man as usual The Ridgid has always been the best cut off tool imo but I haven’t used them all, I’d have liked to have seen the Ridgid ran with the 3ah octane battery pack on it which have the 1p 21700 cell config
Freaking awesome video. I’ve already seen TTCs tests on these and ever since I’ve been anxiously awaiting your review. Thank you so much, it’s really neat to get your take on tools as well. I have the Ryobi cutoff and their “right” angle die grinder. I picked up a bunch of the new 6AH HP batteries for a song earlier this year and they both run pretty good on those. I dislike Dewalt as a whole, nothing logical really, they just don’t do it for me, but there’s no denying that thing is an absolute beast! However what surprises me the most is the Ridgid. That thing has got the smallest motor on it and yet makes the most power or nearly the most power and it’s often really cheap. I actually put all my Ridgid tools in storage as I’m trying to pair down my number if active battery platforms, but damnit that Ridgid makes me want to bring the batteries back out. Sadly none of these other brands make a right angle die grinder that’s worth anything except Ryobi, at least as far as I’m aware. I’d love for Ridgid to come out with a right angle grinder as well. Or better yet, Milwaukee release a new grinder and cutoff tool that doesn’t suck, preferably on M18. Damn you Ridgid!!!!!
Thanks! Yep 110% that Ryobi right angle is awesome. If Ridgid used a similar motor in a 90 it would be crazy. I really hope Milwaukee steps it up and give us both of those tools in M18, thats what everyone wants. On a side note I do have the new Bosch right angle, im curious if it will beat the m12 version.
Thanks for another great test! Btw I am very sceptical about that metabo 10ah pack, if it is 10 cell pack it probably uses 50S cells which are in same power class as 20R cells used in regular 4ah packs. DeWalt had issues with their 10ah packs because they were asking too much out of them lol. For metabo 5.5ah should be the most powerful 10cell pack since they use 30T cells
That Ridgid is impressive for the money. Any plans to test battery adapters? I've got tons of Milwaukee batteries and am not eager to buy into another brand and batteries just for one or two tools. There is a Milwaukee to Ridgid adapter, but I haven't tried it, and I'm not sure how safe they are or how much power loss there is (if any). Thanks
Yeah it’s crazy how powerful it is. Maybe some day but I honestly try to stay away from adapters, I know TTC did a video on them but I haven’t watched it. This tool would probably be ok though, seeing it’s only using 2 pins. But I can definitely understand trying it with one. I really hope we see a M18 version this year, they have to be taking heat over not selling one. No problem!
Honest question, because ive really been wanting to try one of these. Would there be any benefit(besides weight) from me using this tool to cut peices of rebar(what i would mostly use it for) as apposed to using my cordless grinder?
Not really. It's likely safer due to it not being nearly as powerful. And it likely will always have a metal cutting blade on it, whereas with my angle grinder I often am switching back forth between cutting and flap discs.
I feel like the manufacturer could chunk up these cut off tools just a tad more, sacrifice size for more power! I'd be ok with esp dewalt having the current cut off as it's 'compact' cut off while adding a slightly larger model. ESP Makita on the XGT line, the LXT is WAY over priced for the performance with the old 18650 cells. The XGT needs to smoke everything currently existing
@Tools-Tested That's fair. I'm a test engineer working on my own affordable dyno set ups for testing various homeprojects. I don't plan on making videos so if you want to collaborate on anything in the future let me know.

Dept cut was something not mentioned by anyone else.
Yeah kinda important IMO!
I originally bought the dewalt to cut pvc pipe and hose and stuff, never imagined I'd end up routinely cutting bricks and rebar with it.
