It's interesting that Serena and Patrick didn't split up "in a traditional/"kind" way"... there was no official confirmation or comments about splitting up; I just remember Patrick saying that FOR NOW, he is coaching Simona after the permission/agreement of Serena but it didn't mean that they were done... interesting!

Awwww they were a phenomenal pair though 😍
And Serena is Serena there's absolutely no player that Patrick will coach that will replicate Serena ; winning a grand slam after losing in the 1st round no one has ever done that

Return to the basics: get fit/lose the weight, practice more to improve her movement, play more matches to get match tough & she’ll see better results. Also, mental toughness. The fire to win and prove people wrong has been dimmed with less cultural opposition (Williams legacy is undeniable now), more personal fulfillment (marriage, kids), and financial success (Serena Ventures, her clothing line, endorsements). The old adage: “fat and happy” is death to success in performing arts and sports.

It’s still weird to me that Patrick was giving Serena an ultimatum. Saying that if she didn’t show up to practice he would consider himself a free coach. If she was not ready, for whatever reason, that’s fine. She is one of the greatest players of all time. She can decide on her own when she wants to return or not. I don’t understand why Patrick was in a rush to work with other players, especially since Serena is close to retirement. Why burn this bridge with her rather than finish crossing it with her?

Patrick was out of work for almost a year. Serena kept him in the dark the entire time. On top of that, Serena was okay to go since October/November. Coaching is his passion. Y’all are being unfair to him.

@@JCole-fg3rr yeah, I wish I could be “out of work” and still have an entire TENNIS ACADEMY with hundreds of players and pros practicing there regularly. LOLLL not to mention the fact that he is always in Tsitsipas’ and Gauff’s boxes…. Who are you to say she was okay to go in October? How do you know her hamstrings were well enough to play?

Serena should have fired him after 2018 and hired someone different, then she would have won atleasts 2 more slams by now.

@@teewai1836 please, by then Serena was able to train. Serena just wanted extra time off and that’s perfectly fine. But she left her coach completely in the dark as to what she was going to do as far as a comeback.

As a great great fan of Serena, I am so happy for all that he has done for Serena. I hope they havnt split on bad terms. I can understand both sides but Serena has a family now and her priorities have changed which is probably frustrating for him. I would love Serena to win grand slam 24 more than anything and I do wish her well in Wimbledon. She has played so well on Eastbourne after a whole year away. Is it possible? Could it really happen? Wouldn’t it be the perfect ending? Let’s live in hope. Good luck Serena with your health and determination and efforts in Wimbledon . One day at a time. Greetings and the best of Irish luck to you. U so deserve it.

I have a feeling sadly that it did end on bad terms…I see it from both sides I mean Patrick is a coach by nature it probably was hard to sit out and not be at the slams, I mean how long was he really supposed to wait, when she herself said she didn’t know if she was even coming back… but at the same time, a loyal coach would’ve never done to Serena what he did… giving her an ultimatum… Serena is all about trust and loyalty.. hence shes only really had 2 coaches her entire time on tour. Her dad and Patrick. So I’m sure Serena is hurt. And I feel for her it should not be his decision if and when she comes back.. just a sad situation all around.

@@kennethnyangani2884 *Apparently* Patrick wanted to move on because serena wasnt active on the tour at the time, so he forced serena to decide: 'If you come to training on monday, I'll stay, if you don't come, I'll leave'. And serena was shocked by this and decided to not come. I personally think they're still on good terms, I hope so at least. I don't blame patrick at all for wanting to keep coaching on the tour, but I can see why his method of splitting wasn't the best idea.
