Federer is so good at taking things to offense. He constructs the transitions so well, with such a good sense of timing. Dimitrov also has the pretty shots, but he doesn't have Fed's sense of court, his sense of positional consistency. And when Fed takes it up a notch and starts hitting those agressive shots...madre mia...I want to call it the hammer and knife approach. He hammers and hammers consistently, softening up the opponent...relentlessly and ruthlessly... and then he finishes the point with a knife like shot, a shot so precise and equally powerful, it's like a world class chef slicing the filet right off the bone with milimeter precision. Once you realize how rare this is, it becomes crystal clear that Fed is a once in a lifetime talent. No one compares. It’s so good that it should be preserved in a museum or something. It’s the highest echelon of tennis as a performace art. The Barishnikov of tennis.
One thing is winning with consistency and making few mistakes, one other is winning by dominating the opponent with super accurate aggressive shots that have little margin, no one has ever won a lot taking the latter approach, only Roger Federer, and that's why he is without a doubt the goat
@@GeorgeCen Yeah, Federer doesn't need to be the GOAT to be your fav lol; he's my 2nd favourite of the 3 and plays like no one else but he's not the GOAT IMO
I remember watching this match live and in the pre match interview before they took the court, Shapo was almost hyperventilating he was so nervous. The announcer said "get that kid some oxygen".
10:33 you just won a game with an incredible point, you start to feel your game getting better, you throw your best return inside out... and the man just half volley it like its NOTHING
8:35 Definition of a genius - "very great and rare natural ability or skill". You can't learn that shot - you can either do it at that moment for a winner or you can't.
The two things that stood out was how much closer Fed's balls were to the line whether he went for cross cout or DTL and how much more efficient his strokes were to Shapo's.
Federer may have the greatest single handed backhand in history. Sure, it's not like Wawrinka or Gasquet in terms of extreme backhand firepower, but it's an incredibly versatile and consistent shot, from what I can tell. The greatness of his single hander is somewhat similar to the greatness of Djokovic's two hander - reliability. Not many players can exploit Federer's backhand like the other top guys. Unless someone else can present another single hander that's even more reliable, I don't see any other topping Federer's in terms of reliability, and consistency. I can be wrong. Dead wrong. But hey, anyone who wants to disagree, let me know.
Yeah but his one hander is the only reason that the other 2 are better than him...if he had a good two hander then nadal or Djokovic couldn't come close
People who never played pro level don't understand how extremely difficult is to play against someone good who stays so close to the baseline... And then there's Federer...😂
I find that players who after each point, good or bad, look to their box and make faces, rarely do well. Players do better to keep their attention in front of them on the court. You aren't playing your box, it isn't a coaching session, it is a match against your opponent. Focus on your opponent, and think yourself about what to change if things are not going well.
The commentating was just horrible, Shapovalov had his chances and played many fine points. To believe the simping commentator that it was just a one way route, and that Shapovalov got some type of drubbing for disrespecting Fed, was just nonsense. It would be interesting to see the shot stats, it looks like Shapovalov wasn't in complete control of his drive backhand that match as several of them flew long at key moments. A little more consistency on his backhand drives and this match could have gone the other way.
There are so many great tennis players now, to be the best of the best is almost impossible. It really gives you a sense for how good Federer was during his career to basically handle all comers.
There's something that's just wayyyy more special about watching Federer over the "other 2". Forever the GOAT 🐐
that something is his grace and genius
Watch Fed vs Nadal....

Great comment.
"without a doubt the goat" absolute ruined comment by the last phrase.

I am also an enthusiastic Roger's fan.
But we should say "Artistic" GOAT if we must say so.
I can think of 1 person. Stan the Man
I will NEVER get tired of watching Roger. "Poetry In Motion."
against your idol - Against Your Idol - AGAAIIINST YOOOUR IDOOOOOOOOOL
This made me laugh more than it should’ve
😁
Why do you hate him?
4:53 omg what a volley, Federer's hands, out of this world, how much i miss Roger
I remember watching this match live and in the pre match interview before they took the court, Shapo was almost hyperventilating he was so nervous. The announcer said "get that kid some oxygen".
4:54 what a volley
The Master, The Professor, The Maestro. Genius at work, they say. You don't hear of anyone else called that...
Miss very much roger ❤
That underground volley at 4:50 is almost impossible for ANY player, except for Roger. The greatest to me.
8:47 insane rally both players
My all time favorite versus current favorite. Great pleasure to watch. 👍👍👍
Same. Great to see two one handers in a duel.
Sir Roger federer golden legend in universal love you so much miss you so much teniss history best player ❤❤❤
HIS MAJESTY ROGER FEDERER!!!
The Maestro!

great upload

Federer was awesome in this match

Shapo was humbled and FEDERIZED!
Wow! Thanks for this.
It always makes me feel like I'm appreciating art.😮💨

The rally from 8:46 mark doesn't get recognition. One of the greatest rallies I've seen
People who never played pro level don't understand how extremely difficult is to play against someone good who stays so close to the baseline...

Raz Ols love you so much ❤❤❤
It's amazing how Fed always made his opponents sweat as if they were in a sauna, and yet Roger looks like he doesn't even break a sweat.
11:35 a forehand bomber down the line
Shapo looked nervous. He usually has a pretty solid backhand but was shanking against the FED
Solid? It’s the weakest part of his game imo
@@RazOls So is Roger's. But given it's a one-hander, I don't think Shapo's is the best but it's pretty solid
@@RazOlsvolleys are weaker and mental game
@@RazOls Nah, his backhand is a weapon - like all one handers. His impatience is the weakest part of his game.

Shapo was definitely nervous. Who wouldnt be playing Roger, the idol. Cant blame the kid
wow huge gem, this shapo match is not on youtube at this quality a first in utube. thanks and mi pipi is erect
50fps to see rogers pectorals at double the frames
Fed is the GOAT
Possibly odd request: have you ever done a video on top shots by Federer before he became world no.1?

Agreed. The commentator was disrespectful to Shapovalov
i'm sorry but rafa & djoko never hit a tennis ball like that! That was a joke
Federer is the GOAT
What has happened to Shapo? Looked so promising, but is now mediocre.

가짜는 진짜 앞에서 진짜 가짜가 되지.
Federer : "son, you have much to learn"
Needed better shoes
Luke Skywalker Vs Federer
That was embarrassing! 😅
8:26 bro come on
Young man, respect your elders! 😂
