Thank you, this was a terrific video and your explanation and perfect. I have the exact same ratchet (bought it new at Sears too many years ago). I don't use it that often but decided to do some work on the car and it started slipping. This is a great ratchet and I hated the idea of replacing it. Then I found your video. I bought a very small tube of Super Lube, for about $4.00 on Amazon, I already had brake cleaner, took it apart, cleaned, lubed and rebuilt. Works perfectly. I watched other rebuild video, yours was by far the best.

I have a V-44985 1/2" wrench that was difficult to turn the gear by hand without a socket. I'm glad I found your video. My ball bearing and lever were working just fine and felt tight, so I avoided removing the pawl and ball. I only removed and cleaned the gear which made the procedure much easier. I was able to use a fine, long pair of needle nose pliers to remove the clip. Then, I used choke/parts cleaner and a toothbrush. After wiping everything clean with a cloth, I used silicone grease for lubricant and put everything back together -- the wrench is like brand new again. I plan to get some of the Super Lube so I can do the whole procedure as you show in your video. Thank you!

Thanks for posting this video! I found this same Craftsman ratchet wrench (V-43784) among my father's old tools. After watching your video, I was able to clean and lubricate the malfunctioning wrench. You were right. The ball bearing was not engaging. Works like a charm now!

Thank you for this video! I watched several videos about lubing ratchets and this was the most straightforward and explanatory.

Thanks for the video. I have the same ratchet set that I bought about 35 years ago. I was having the same problem with the 3/8 inch drive. I had no idea how to correct the issue. I followed your video and it now works like new....Thanks
