- All For One's BACKSTORY REVEALED! In My Hero Academia Chapter 407, we learn AFO's origin story! Boku no Hero Academia Chapter 407 sees a flashback top when All For One and Yoichi are born, how they grew up, and how the Villain King got his villain origin story! Through the backstory of OFA, we see parallels to AFO reaching out to Shigaraki, The 2nd User Kudo reaching out to Yoichi, and ask the question: Do we all just need someone, anyone to reach out to us? Could AFO have been a hero if someone reached out to him?

My guess is that AfO's so committed to steal One for All because he specifically wants his brother at his side when he takes over the world. With One for All still having his brother's vestige while also being placed under his reign, he'd finally be reunited with his bro while his brother (forcefully) fights alongside him.
Yeah that's def a huge motivation for him
His backstory supports the theory I had that the drawback of AFO’s quirk could be kleptomania, specifically an uncontrollable version of it that is deeply rooted in his biology. The fact that he even stole his brother’s nutrients out of pure instinct almost confirms this.
he was born poor, lived in the streets, he originally had to fight for the next meal he could reach...so yeah, It makes sense.
For him its never enough, and it will never be.
I hate the idea of trying to redeem every single villain and make everybody relatable.. They can be Just villains.
Well AFO flashback was sure sad enough to make someone become villain but yeah AFO probably will be still evil even if had help.
AFO is just irredeemable
Even with how sad his backstory is it shows that he’s just born evil. The first thought he ever had in his life was distrust and greed. He cared for his brother as a possession and not a person even murdered a baby and stole their quirk.
But nobody ever tried to do that with AFO, he always has been treated as a pure evil villain, even Deku Just hates him lol
No one even tried to get him in the society...this guy is simply born psychopathic, but he can still be a hero though...one way is to say that he'll get everything he wants if he decides to be a hero without even lifting a finger or stuff, and make him believe that's the case...using ideals of justice simply won't work because his worldview is purely materialistic, and he doesn't understand that urge called "Empathy"
Damn AFO really said to that Glowing baby I take your very existence as a insult.
AFO just wants to possess his twin again. Nothing unusual there. However, the only way they can be reunited is in the vestige world which is why he needed to groom Shigaraki’s anger. Once they are together again the physical powers will be useless. It will be a battle of wills between AFO/Shigaraki and the combined wills of all the OFA users bringing little Tenko to the fore. GO HORIKOSHI!

what I really realize from the flashback; is that all for one in a way is like tenko because during his past time.
he was being ignored even by those government guys who are just about to stay away from him, because they think he might be affected and I got him mad inside thinking are they rejecting me then he kills them, then there was an emotional time where he spends time with his brother reading comics, and kind of talks about heroes, and even villains just like Tenko and his friends, but then when there grown up even all for one was blind from powered and anger to see what was going on in front of him and that was the part where his brother was being taken away by someone he’s wondering why the next moment he react he didn’t even know what he did was an attack instead of a grab pulling back in, no wonder Kudo told them that he killed him and he just didn’t know that because he was a Blind With power.
No wonder all for one I took tenko in with his arms because he could relate to the struggles he dealt with when he was his age; but I’m pretty sure he never told him

I Honestly feel Just Abit Of Empathy for AFO's Backstory cause I won't forget yoichi's trauma
But also the fact that this chapter was from AFO's POV, he constantly dehumanize himself and wants us and the viewers to believe he was born pure evil. While the next chapter in 408 seems Like AFo killed his brother, It just doesn't make sense to me after looking at the One For All Killed Yoichi Theory.
AFO's Has Many Similarities to The LOV Members if you look at it.
-Tomura: Both never were helped or look at on the streets when they were young & both killed at a young age
-Spinner: Discrimination in a way Because of The society they were in, but with AFO it qwas due to Quirks appearing .
-Toga: Both deemed A Monster or disease due to something they had no control over
AFO is a Complicated villain with a Complicated Backstory & Mind. Which is very confusing for us to understand the man itself. But this doesn't discard his actions, he did grew to be the worse person.
But also the fact that he never had a parental figure and learn how to survive with his twin brother yoichi at birth.
People will say he was born pure evil After getting nutrients from his mother's corpse, But It kinda natural for babies to look for nutrients or care or Love from a parent, At birth ofc he would be hungry that's just babies🤷
Anyway All I gotta say Is, his backstory is in the middle for Me, but also I can't forget what he did to yoichi, but I like his character to a Point thay it's very confusing.

The good old ideals of justice and the desire to lend a hand are things beyond his natural comprehension and things he care not about, and his worldview is purely materialistic

This so far is proving one thing and that is, "Society really is pathetically afraid."
I'm wondering what ever happened to "Love thy neighbor???"
Instead we get another case study where, if you leave a person alone, especially a child, with only what they can
work with, can only lead to pain, suffering, despair, neglect, hate, disgust, fear, and finally, retribution.
Its truly a sad story, and I do agree that even if only 1 person gave him a hand, then there is that possibility that
his life would have gotten better. Unfortunately, multiple factors happened, which lead up to where we are now.
What's worse, is that he has quirks that can destroy an entire planet, with just a though. Luckily for the Heroes
that are fighting against him, still have a shot to end his reign, and produce a bright future between quirk users and
non quirk users.
Back then, it really barrel down to who takes responsibility for the unfortunate events that has happened.
Now its, "How to end the war, and finally pacify All-For-One without any further destruction?"
Now that I think about it, I'm asking myself..."Are they going to pull an "Airbender" ending on All-For-One???"

It might be possible...it'll be great if we get a movie where Deku Sensei and his grown up friends deal with a teenage criminal who has the same quirk and personality as All For One was, just to see what they could've done to make THAT a hero...maybe have that kid as a student in UA later in the story...(I'd guess he'll be a great but annoyingly braggy hero, should he be one)
RL has James Fallon, who has the brain of a psychopath (And doesn't care about it, like a psychopath), yet he's a good man and a functional member of the society with things that are only "Borderline psychopathic" at worst
I wonder if AFO named Yuichi himself. It doesn't seem like their mom even had a chance to name either of them. AFO may not have a true name. Naming his smaller brother would be like a claim to ownership over him. And him naming himself is a form of his rulership. Only he can make a name for himself, and he names himself AFO. Because everything is for him.
Possibly, but I believe Yoichi was given that name to mean the 1st user of OFA, so likely it wasn't from AFO.
For me this proves AFo was born evil, and even his true name if he even has one, is just something he created. The only real tragedy about AFO backstory, is that he never truly grew up, cause he never found his identity other then being evil.
But
Its a perfect counter balance to his younger twin.
One was born evil, power hungry, possesive, childish yet dangerous
while the other
was born good, hopeful, determined and mature for the future.
I have no sympathy for AFO OR Shigaraki, if anything, this just gives me more sympathy to Yoichi. The man deserved so much more in life that were robbed from him not jsut for the world but by his only family. If anything, this shows how Shigarki could have become instead. Yoichi coudl ahve become jsut as bad as his brother, in a way he had "all the right too", but he was strong mentally.

People miss the fact that their literal conception was traumatic, despite not being wholley concious there were popular studies (now illegal) on infants to show if fear could be ingrained. Little Albert was such a study, there were two things they found infants naturally feared. Loud sounds and darkness. Then they paired the gonging noise with a white whool, and astonishingly found the fear had "transferred" to any material that carried the look and sensation of white whool, most famously a white rabbit. Shocasing, even living creatures weren't exempt.
Yoichi's and AFO's condition were atrocious to be honest. The rushing of the waves, the coldness of the stream, the squeaking of the rats intending to eat them...ironically another of the rodent family.
So what happened? Where did nature and nurture come to play for the two to be so different? Honestly, It comes down to AFO being more cognizant of his circumstances, Youichi's weakened state likely saved from being aware of what was going by constantly passing out on the edge of death. But his brother.... likely endured all of it.
The argument could be said that this nature began in the womb, but to that I say, look at the state of the carrier? The mother. She barely seemed fit to carry children, and there is what appears to be alcohol that she's holding in a daze. One look at her condition and her clothing is enough to deduce that, she barely had any nutrients to offer.
The trauma then began sense the boys were concieved with AFO making an effort to survive. Regardless if he was hogging it or not, it was clear, there wasn't enough for all three of them.

Shigaraki is AFO"s host as well as his younger brother's Yoichi's mirror so he is doing so through Tenko Shimura aka Tomura Shigaraki. He wanted Yoichi to rely on him and only him unfortunately he relied on someone else and ran away. The severed hand is probably Yoichi as he had to pass on OFA. Which is also probably where the hand symbolism originated for Shigaraki's villain persona after all AFO had made Tomura Shigaraki he didn't become a villain on his own he was "groomed" and molded.

this was an very intresting chapter:
i think the group who called the quirk users " freaks" could be the early version of the creature rejection clan
afo and yoichi mom pregnacy being quite ambigious is a refrence to anakin skywalker birth
im glad were getting the origin of the shigaraki brothers and getting some world building about the early years of quirks user which answer a couple of mystery that were never answer untill now and gives some context behind certain events
next ch predictions:
afo accidently kills yoichi
we see kudo fight afo which result in kudo death
we see kudo pass on the quirk to the third user (we also get the 3rd user name)
we see images of afo fighting the other ofa user which leads back to present with bakugo
bakugo seriously injures afo, possible burning him down to a skeleton
we cut over to deku using gearshift against shiggy
deku passes out from over using gearshift leading him to vestige realm while bakugo must fight shiggy and afo alone

Man, I can imagine if they bring this flashback in the show instead of cutting to a scene of it we actually see Deku and shigaraki still struggling against each other but suddenly there minds actually get sent back to the vestige world and they see each other but they can’t move with their arms and that is when all the anger of all for one create another flashbacks seen but this time it takes them back to his beginning of his memory.
And we can imagine how Deku and shigaraki are gonna to react to it

No gonna lie. VIZ really screwed the pooch on this one. They translated certain parts to mean something very different from what the raw scans said. And the viz version sounds less significant than the unofficial translations.
The unofficial said that 50 babies in India were born with quirks before the glowing baby. Which goes with all for one’s point of why the glowing baby shouldn’t have so many followers. But viz said that 50 babies with quirks were born in the past 2 weeks. Which makes it feel out of nowhere since it doesn’t connect to the point he was making. Also, AFO refers to the glowing baby as “they”. The Japanese version refers to the baby as “he”.
What the hell VIZ? Why did you screw this one up so bad?

AFO’s backstory just proves he can’t be redeemed, he’s just like this. He didn’t love his brother as a human but a possession that belonged to him. He would kill people mercilessly for practically no reason and killed a baby and stole their quirk. He was born with the belief that he could take what he wanted.

I'm looking at the rats that ate their mom corpse as becoming carriers of the quirk factor and spreading it across the globe. Their mom was patient 0, had the twins, but then the rats ate them and just created the other a quirk babies through their rampant disease spread, but if you were saying "too bad other people got quirks too" then yeah I agree lol. If they didn't get quirks then no afo
