Mykayla finished 4th in the Olympic trials and Gabby was 7th in the standings. It was Gabby's performance and standings at National's that got her the spot on the team. Both are great gymnasts and I will be awaiting to see Gabby perform next year. No matter what or who, it is going to be a very difficult team to make with Simone, Shilese, Jordan, Jade, Joseline, Gabby, Zoe, and all the rest shooting for one of the 5 spots on the active roster.
Gabby was also silver medalist at worlds last year when skinner was the alternate. She beat skinner at classics and nats in 15 and also beat her in 16 at jesolo. Gabby is an Olympic all around so they’re not both great. Once is the face of the sport and the other ones is racist and insignificant.

idk tbh, i just think theyre two completely gymnasts. i love gabby and shes literally my second favorite but i personally prefer power over artistry. gabby kills mykayla in artistry but i don't think there's many gymnasts (other than simone obv) that can attempt the skills mykayla has. i also think there are some things myk executes really well. her double double is one of the best I've seen in a long time, her vaults were beautiful the last couple years, same with her back handspring full on beam being good recently too. i will say, in the time they competed together, gabby beats myk in every aspect, but since gabbys break from 2016-2022 i really think mykayla has been great. if were just comparing the time they competed together, i totally agree with u on gabby > myk though.

The number of athletes per country literally changed the next olympics so that countries like the USA with so much depth wouldn’t be able to send their 7th best and secure the gold with 1 gymnast who’s good at bars. Mykayla hits when it matters and she’s always had to work 10000x harder to shine in the shadows. Everyone knows that you’re supposed to peak at trials and Myk did her absolute best in both 2016 and 2020. Gabby did well on bars and had experience. Funny, if the 2020 olympic 4+2 athletes rules were in effect for 2016, it would have been Myk on the team and Gabby wouldve been the individual. In 2020, if myk competed on the team they would have had a good shot at the gold still even if simone dropped out, but unfortunately that wouldnt have happened because they would have never put grace as an individual spot, and grace’s wolf turns were too good to not take her to the olympics. Myk deserved going in 2020, she still got the silver when she was literally packing her bags thinking she was going to go home. Myk’s success story is real and she’s fought so many battles and been through so much. She couldn’t get to show her stuff in 2016 because aly and simone were also vault and floor specialists. She was an alternate again for worlds a few years later and never got to compete at a worlds. She is literally called a racist because she’s a white girl but she’s actually one of the sweetest people ever and definitely NOT racist.
