People in the US don't understand how people in other countries think. A car like this costs more than a million dollars usually. So when we go to the US it is like a sale 90% off! Buy one and get 5 free and give it to your children! Some came from Hong Kong where they sold their tiny apartments for 2 million dollars. They come to the US , buys a 200,000 dollar home...and find they have 1.8 million left ! "Oh, what to do with this money? ". They go to Canada and buy another home and : "Shit ! I still have money left!"
+Truthseeker everything is so much more expensive in china. i grew up here, but that's why my relatives back in china always ask for designer stuff from here, because it's way way cheaper. a coach bag for $200 from an outlet here is usually worth $1000+ back there. not to mention the $1000 might not even be good quality. also, chinese culture loves name brands.
My grandma had a couple Chinese students stay with her for a couple weeks a few months ago and one of them just gave me $600 for no reason lmaoo They're great
Those Chinese students is second generation rich In USA have a lot millionaires and billionaires, last year 2013 in U.S had order 190 of LaFerrari cost around $2.5 million dollars, LaFerrari only have 499 unit makes.
Shaanwei Guangwu many lives destroyed by chinas communist party, i use to live in shanghai to, learned about how you should never talk about the Tianinmen square massacre at work, or the cultural revolution, or other political topics, shanghai is only a small part of china, lots of corrupt people in Shanghai however lots of expats aswell, if you get out to the countryside to the right places you will see how contaminated water and air from unregulated pollution has ruined many lives, the migrant workers have been displaced and they lined the pockets of their overlords, leaving them with not much, while they left behind the children, dog eat dog world for many in china
I met a kid at timmies here in toronto he is 20 yrs old driving a 488 i told him nc car he notice my uniform he said his parents work there too i ask what position .. he said it and i was shock .. they are my boss lol my big boss..
Not really because they're not even happy for having that car. They're just like "Oh this is one of my 3 ferraris" or whatever. If my parents gave me a Honda or a Seat or wtv, I'd happy af. I'd say "My car is a 94 Seat Ibiza with a 1.9 engine. It's a relatively big engine for a small car, bla bla bla" instead of saying "Yeah I picked this one because I study in California and that's also the name of the car".
João Cerqueira well... they have a really different lifestyle/childhood, if they had a "not so rich" life like u maybe(assuming, sorry) they would feel the same way u do.. i mean if im DAT rich that 3 ferraris are like 1% of my dad's bank account.. Well u feel nothing u know, its like losing a dollar
Seems like an intentional mis-translation at 1:55 to make the guy look spoiled; she actually asked "why did you choose this colour?" and he replied "because it's beautiful". She did not ask him how old he was and he did not say he was 20.
Its actually nice of them to drive to school/uni in average cars so that they don't show off, I don't mind if they're filthy rich if they're modest about it
All of the answers to the “why” questions are basically “because I can”, and tbh there’s nothing wrong with that. At least they hold secret parties instead of flexing excessively.
I never grew up "rich" or in the 1 percent, but my parents are both computer scientists, so I grew up fairly financially stable. My mom and pop both came from China, immigrated legally in the 80's, and lived on 200 dollars a month bussing tables while in college. A fancy dinner from them was buying KFC once a month, and even that was rough. Ten to twenty years later, they went from living in a 3 room apartment in the Ohio ghetto to a 900k house and becoming US citizens. My mom worked on combat fighters for Boeing, (f-18 program). My dad worked for eBay, Amazon, etc. I too, like the kids in these videos, am a son of well off immigrants. But I grew up never asking for anything. If I wanted a toy I worked for it somehow. If I wanted gas money I bagged groceries. My mom taught me to earn my dreams by myself, just as she had when she was stuck in the reigns of authoritarian China. My pop remembers spending a large majority of his childhood starving on a bowl of rice a day. He remembers working 50-60 hours a week just to pay off one quarter at school. People can only hand you material possessions and cash, not any deeper dreams you may have. It's in my humble opinion if you're handed luxury your entire life, you're at risk for a real shock when the training wheels are off, when mom and dad aren't there as your crutch anymore.
Those kids are different. Like those rich kids in America, their wealth will pass down for generations, become old money. They and their descendants will never need to work for a luxury life. They can do whatever they want. In America and Europe, there are millions families living luxury life and never worked for hundred years.
Do you not realize their parents have enough money for at least a few cycle of generations? If they could only afford one generation of luxury, of course they would teach their kids the “ right way”, but I’m pretty sure they have enough money not to worry about if their parents are not there as crutches.
Its different era. Im from Taiwan, the one who immigrated to the US in the 80s have to work in the restaurants or some hard labor job. The one who stayed in Taiwan caught on the economic train and got wealthy....Same thing in china people in Asia used to laugh at them being poor look at them now.
Well said! I guess the values that were taught to them since childhood are different from most of the 'ordinary' people like us. When leading an luxurious life has become the very fundamental of our world perception, as well as having the financial resourses to support this lifestyle, we will too become the 'rich kids' in other people's eyes. The only gap separating us from the superrich generation is that whether we have the willingness, determination and perseverence to work hard in order to achieve the material and spiritual satisfaction that we coveted for. and luck as well!
Incorrect subtitles at 1:54. She's not saying "How old are you?" It sounds like she's saying "Why did you choose this color?" He said "It's beautiful" not "20."
Me an international student shaving my head so i can save on haircut. News: International students drive lambhorghinis. *This really doesn't represent how international students live in USA*
I lived and worked in the Flushing area of Queens, New York City. As a sales consultant of high end tvs, phones and electronics during my college days I can tell u that the Chinese in the area had no problem spending tens of thousands of dollars on high end goods. Sometimes u could never tell though that they had a ton of money. They never acted or looked spoiled.
shaserdeses Thank you! People think we are all spoiled and snotty. We aren't, though I can't speak for all. I still wear clearance clothing, I love Walmart, I still buy $15 xmas gifts for my sister, we are normal people lol. Some mean, some down to earth.
+y2kxj I actually know someone that rich and he drives around in a Honda Accord and lives in a studio apartment in one of the worst areas of the city. His father was the Founder/CEO of major supermarket chain (I won't say which one), but when my friend hit 25 years old, he started receiving $30K a month into his bank account through his trust which he was going to get for the next 25 years. He bought a nice car (A BMW M3), but said it wasn't him. This is a guy that joined the Navy right out of HS and was working retail when he got out.
same thing here in Sydney, rich students are usually Chinese. They drive expensive cars, wear designer clothes and use the latest phones, laptops... I guess it's because of the one child policy in China so parents give their kid everything they want.
***** Now now we know you are a chinese communist lover no need to get bent out of shape because someone says corruption works wonders for your bank account. If you are not part of that then it should not offend you lol.
***** Oh noes a mean Internets comment whatever shaaaaaaall I do? Instead of attacking someone personally why not just make a valid rebuttal? It's sad really what come next? More communist chinese propaganda?
I really love to see this how Chinese parents are big to their children studies and support them with luxuries until they finish up their studies, love and respect.
Wow this was really badly translated.... 1:54 he doesn't say "No, I have another car for that", he says "I have friends who brings me to school" And the interviewer doesn't say "How old are you", she says "Why did you pick this color for the car" and the guy doesn't answer with "20", he says "Because the color is beautiful"
BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE JEALOUS. People work harder than you to get to where they are. I can bet more Chinese new generations went to Universities than more young generations Americans. So what is there to complain about? Americans privatising their universities and brought this upon themselves.
Translation from 1:53-2:00 is inaccurate/wrong. Correct translation: "No, my friend picks me up and drives me there." "Why this color (for your car)?" "Because it's beautiful".
I have asian friends like this in college. Everytime we go out they always pay for me, mostly because I helped some of them get used to the U.S and a lot of other stuff too. We are great friends till this very day.
American spoiled kids do the same things.... I just dont understand why ppl like to stigmatize Chinese students... there are many hardworking diligent Chinese or Asian students out there in California regardless of FOB or ABCs rich spoiled Chinese are at least bilinguals
China people are humble and kind I've met them also once a rich china guy approach me and my friend to get inside his car while we were stranded middle of the beach road and he told me that his father thought him to always be humble and not to show off :)
Pedro Picapiedra Or by using a car that he had at the time, which clearly you're jealous about despite not even knowing what car it was.... Jealousy is a disgusting emotion
I dated a super rich girl in college. She had an r8 and a yellow ferrari. I was experiencing some of the most expensivest lifestyle all from her pocket. She would sometimes give me hundreds to buy her a water bottle and tell me to keep the change. But, this only lasted 3 months when her parents found out. The parents are ok with her fucking guys but a love relationship is not allowed without their permission. And the 1 condition has to be: Your family must be on equal or wealthier than her family. It was fun tho.
When I was in school I once studied with this girl who was in my class. She was an international student from China. We would always laugh and joke, but one day I joked that she was spoiled. She never spoke to me again and always tried to ignore me when crossing paths on campus. She knew she was spoiled and it hurt her feelings.
the translation fail. what is translated edited : reporter : how old are you? boy : 20 what is actual said. reporter : why u chosen this colour? boy : because its faking pretty!
The Aventador owner was asked "Why did you wrap the car in this color?" and he responds "Because it's beautiful!" but the editor translated it as a question about his age??
They call these kids satellite babies. I used to have chinese exchange students who's parents paid for them to go to school here. All they did was skip school, go to the arcade and spend thousands of dollars gaming every single day. They bought us killer christmas presents though. Nice guys but just didnt care.
I am not trying to be bias. However, the reasons why Asians work so hard is because, they are not born with a silver spoon. In the past, china immigrant workers are sent to US to work as miners or coolies, it's because they dare to dream. They work hard so that their descendants can enjoy a better life. It works the same as jews, where they worked extremely hard to become so successful. When you are born in a place where you aren't good or smart enough, it's all about heart.
So because one generation wasn't born with silver spoons in their mouths, they're automatically entitled to raise another generation WITH the silver spoons in their mouths? Mind you, none of this would've happened if China hadn't spent the better part of the 20th century in an ideological quagmire that forced a select few to RACE to catch up to the rest of the world when their corrup govt finally decided it was ok to be more like the west (where the system was RIGHT from the get go).
Coolestmovies My point is for those people who assumed that Chinese people are so rich because of corruption. It's indeed a fact, your ancestor must work hard before you can enjoy their fruits of labor.
i can assure you, not ONE of these kids featured in this video is even a hair related to anyone that worked the railroads. these kids were all from the generation that rose from mao.
Just normal rich kids, we didn't see anything "inside" the secret meet up. Just a bunch of rich kids having a car show, american kids do this every weekend all over the united states.
+joachim chavez They are a unit of the family. Their last name is part of the family. The family gives them the money. They are blood lines, so yes, they too are rich.
well nothing to be jelous of really, I'm from China and my family is pretty well off too but I never wanted to live off my parents because I always like challenges, and it seems now its serving better because I understand how these rich kids think, they see these luxuries as social status, ways to feel good about themselves and feel elevated above others; while I'm getting luxuries from my hard earned wealth and truely appreciated and enjoy them. If you know anyone like these people you will know there's hardly anything in life that really excites them, and as they get older and fake friends leave their lives, they will have nothing to really be happy for, other than non-stop money spending to fill the void. I once knew someone who bough 5 luxuries cars and never drove them, it's so ridiculous I would consider it a mental problem like hording
This sums up pretty much every Chinese student I know studying abroad in the US. Funny thing is to them they actually think it is not that expensive to buy these super cars, because of the high car tax in China it would cost them roughly triple to buy the same car in China, so they think they are getting a deal here in the US.
ricecakeFTW American, Japanese, Korean, German engineered. Put together by 15-cent-on-the-dollar-and-some-cancer Chinese worker. If these kids are put through the life I’m through, they’ll be dead before the end of year one.
2 people noticed. Lying to the stupid masses again. The Chinese are doing want they want so that breeds hate. People should focus on positivity and love and pursue whatever they want to in life. LOVE
haha i was wondering that i am still learning but i was sure he said 'pi yong liang' or whatever the pinyin is for pretty so many of the subtles are horrible, I saw another video they replace 走吧 let's move... or let's go? with "let's bounce" wtf :O are they Jimmy de Santa?
Even though I have seen a lot racist comments towards rich Chinese students, I am glad that there are some Americans(Or others) will understand this. I am an international student from China and I earned my degree from a top 50 University in US and found a job by myself in LA. I have seen a lot of those rich Chinese kids there and some are really spoiled like some of those stupid students in the video. But there are some Chinese students drive fancy cars and in the meantime they also study and work freaking hard. They understand the concept of "Work hard play hard." (I like the song "play hard" by David Guetta btw) Those students drive a fancy car not only because of the enjoyment but also because it's a way to get to know other rich families and they use the car to enter the rich group and try to do business together. This is how some of the rich people become richer and sadly most people don't understand that and become very biased towards all rich Chinese students. My parents are not super rich but they are also muti-millionaires in China(They are not government officials nor have any government relationship but work hard as CEO) and can easily afford me a Ferrari. But I chose to buy a economical Honda Civic and study hard. (I don't give a shit about getting into those "rich Chinese social groups" )Now I am working towards my master degree in a top 20 research university in US. I will also work hard after I graduate with my master's. Considering that most people don't even know how hard it is for international students to find a job in America because of visa issues. I feel very happy now and if I become rich in the future, I would try my best to contribute to the society, humanities and conduct charity as much as possible. (OMG these word make me sound like such a good guy. haha kidding :D) I don't feel any proud of being rich but I value in personal achievements and success in society. I know there are a lot Chinese students have similar value like me. And no matter how much racism is spreading on this internet, there are some people like me won't care and will work towards success. 以此共勉。
+Kevin S What school do you go to? You must be freaking smart bro. Living here is not easy especially since you weren't born here. Glad that you get to work and have jobs even with or without Visa issues. Take care brother and make your parents proud (:
Also, these luxury/super cars in the US are bargains for them compared to the same cars in China. The tax on these cars are insane in China, so these cars are actually “cheap.”
Me and my cousin are opening a tuning shop catering to these PRC students. I live in Vancouver, BC. I see this everyday. Even most of the wealthy neighborhoods in the Westside are now majority owned by them. Everytime you come to a neighborhood in the Westside of Vancouver, you will see alot of this.
i can only be jelly of these fortunate kids,in their early 20s and already owning multiple exotics while im just sitting here not even owning a bike...being poor sucks :(
Don't worry man. I'm reading a book right now called "The Golden Ghetto: The Psychology of Affluence". It actually makes me feel fortunate to be average. "The Golden Ghetto is in fact inhabited by millions of Americans, rich and poor alike, who embrace and endlessly pursue the fantasy that more is better, while allowing all that is truly worthwhile - loving relationships, the selfless giving of oneself, and spiritual growth - to fall by the wayside."
At 1:55 , when the interviewer asked the dude how old he was, that actually wasn’t said in chinese. What they were actually talking about was about her asking him why would choose this color and the young man replied because it’s pretty. So basically when the captions said “how old are you” and the dude said 20, it wasn’t the right translation. The right translation is: “Why would you choose this color?” “Because it’s pretty!” I think they’re trying to hide something but that obviously failed
Ziyue Wang There are Chinese cars - lots of them actually, but they are nowhere to be found in the US. And they are certainly not luxury/super cars, so of course these kids don’t want them.
1:50 *Translation* Host: Do you drive this car when you go to school? Guy: No, I have another car for that. Host: How old are you? Guy: 20. *Actual* Host: Do you drive this car when you go to school? Guy: No, My friend would fetch me there. Host: Why did you select this colour for your car? Guy: Because it's pretty. WTF IS THIS SHIETTTTT
please, for the people who are negative about this or maybe a little bit jealousy? don't put yourself in the victim position, you have to understand that victimizing yourself, talking shit about them will get you nowhere. instead, work harder, strive for it! aim for this if you want this. and STFU
euphoriassy bloom LOL yea those college students really worked their ass off to earn that fucking Aventador right??? Fucking joke. You truly, honestly believe deep in your heart that the system as it sits is perfect and that ANYONE who works hard can succeed in life and buy supercars? Turn off Fox. You see there is nothing wrong with buying your kids nice things, but when there is SUCH a massive gap in economic diversity it just feels so wrong. There should be economic inequality absolutely. There should be a struggle to be rich. But the ridiculousness of this wealth gap is what is so staggering. BILLIONS of dollars for a single person? That is fucking wrong. That single person has the ability to do soooo much shit for this planet, and yet they just sit happy doing everything they can to keep or increase their wealth. Is it a crazy idea to just put a billion dollar cap on people? I mean what could you not do with a BILLION fucking dollars?
Cars in America is relatively cheap... Cars in Malaysia are 3x more expensive, while 4-5x more expensive in Singapore... And yeah.. It cost about USD 1 million to get a Aventador here...
***** my point is... wanna live fancy?? live in Singapore...Singapore is the place where you can show off your wealth via cars... in US is toooo cheap..
***** Its environmental tax. Apparently singapore dishes out green tax on car and control their prices to reduce pollution and fuel emissions. This is actually a pretty good thing, and reduces the number of cars on the road. More specifically, the taxes increases with the capacity/horsepower on the car, so higher fuel-consuming and less environmentally friendly cars like the Lambo have to pay a very very pricey premium. It goes easily to US$1million to US$2million on average. Plus the mandatory insurance on 2-door vehicle (Sports cars) usually comes up to at least 30-50% of the vehicle's price itself. At the end of it, countrymen are more encouraged to use means of public transport or 'green' vehicles. So there you go. An environmental effort. Now how is that a bad thing?
***** Nazis.. it's very cheap, they can afford corvette zr1 well.. Even in Singapore they has got so many lambo I have see them video did it to showed up. include many aventador, gallardo, Murcielago, about 30 of it..
I think they should make a interview in hong kong supercar club. one aventador = three - four in the US and theres are tons of supercar in hong kong lol
Such groups can be found at multiple universities in the USA. The cool part about it is the cars present. The sad part is that not all the students know enough about the cars. One of my friends saw a student with a Nissan GT-R (not exactly a showpiece car to begin with, it's a racecar) and asked her about the stats. The owner didn't know but liked it because it looked fast. We then proceeded to cry. I mean, c'mon, it's one of the quickest cars off the line with amazing AWD cornering and you don't know a thing about it? :( still cool to see the cars though!
Wildman well, I wouldn't make that generalization. I invite you to check out and subscribe to my friends Shmee150 ***** DoctaM3 ***** Street Speed 717 Supercars of London superspeedersRob and plenty more! They know their stuff, AND they're owners.
As someone who is grew up in the slums and understands my parents' virtues for immigrating from China to the United Sates, literally starting from the bottom, I completely pity these kids' lavish lifestyles and their ignorance. Why ignorance, you ask. Simply put, these kids were most likely spoiled since their youth and have adopted a certain lifestyle and persona to abide by society's standards-- especially Western Standards. I have friends who enjoy this type of lifestyle and noticed that all of them miss the underlying Chinese principles of humility and respect.
TheSuaveBOSS As someone who grew up in this lavish lifestyle, i pity you. Because I've the Chinese principle of humility and respect. Therefore, I pity you, hope you receive my donations to the poor.
Jon w so where's the humility in your statement? Love to contradict yourself huh, besides not having humility you're also an idiot, worst combo ever. lol
Vincent at least it’s your money buddy..trust me even a moped bought from your money will make you feel much better than a car bought from your parents money.
Good luck... I hope you’ll earn more in future . It’s better to buy something with self earned money , no matter how small the thing is . It sparks joy 😊
***** the middle east countries have 40-50 billionaires in total, whereas there are more than 270 billionaires in China (not including Japan and South korea). So that's why this video surprised me a lot.
Pana S No ! but if you want, i can refer also on the sales of luxury cars more in Middle East! This was declared by major luxury companies ! search on internet !
***** Overall, the middle east countries still have less billionaires than the continent of east Asia. Dont forget that China alone has the world biggest economy with the total budget of 18 trillions USD dollars and it keep increasing. You can find that valuable source on BBC, CNN and others media.

Haha. You have a car at least
Its actually nice of them to drive to school/uni in average cars so that they don't show off, I don't mind if they're filthy rich if they're modest about it
in their average audi rs7? yes.
TheMost FreshM3M3 i have pictures of them driving to school in lp560's so youre wrong there
No it's cuz they gonna get either robbed or they car fucked up lol
robbed?? im pretty sure they can afford guns and have insurance
Christian Balado California has strict laws with owning a firearm.
All of the answers to the “why” questions are basically “because I can”, and tbh there’s nothing wrong with that. At least they hold secret parties instead of flexing excessively.
廖俊翔 haha they normally flex in china
If they could only afford one generation of luxury, of course they would teach their kids the “ right way”, but I’m pretty sure they have enough money not to worry about if their parents are not there as crutches.
cool story bro

"Because it's beautiful".

Coolestmovies Did any of these people do something to other people?
finally someone who gets it. Thank you.
i can assure you, not ONE of these kids featured in this video is even a hair related to anyone that worked the railroads. these kids were all from the generation that rose from mao.

+Christian Joseph Good point.
well nothing to be jelous of really, I'm from China and my family is pretty well off too but I never wanted to live off my parents because I always like challenges, and it seems now its serving better because I understand how these rich kids think, they see these luxuries as social status, ways to feel good about themselves and feel elevated above others; while I'm getting luxuries from my hard earned wealth and truely appreciated and enjoy them.

1/3 of the price to buy a super car here in the state? Hell yeah it's cheap. Come on, what would you think in our place?
True.... they think it's all cheap here in the U.S.!!!

Sino Deutsch Yeah, they were probably trying to make them sound "gangster" by changing 走吧 to "let's bounce".
(OMG these word make me sound like such a good guy. haha kidding :D)
I don't feel any proud of being rich but I value in personal achievements and success in society. I know there are a lot Chinese students have similar value like me. And no matter how much racism is spreading on this internet, there are some people like me won't care and will work towards success. 以此共勉。
Good luck ;)
+Kevin S What school do you go to? You must be freaking smart bro. Living here is not easy especially since you weren't born here. Glad that you get to work and have jobs even with or without Visa issues. Take care brother and make your parents proud (:

"the parents just want them to live better" great mentality, I want to make sure my kids get what I couldn't get.

Blame your parents for not being as rich as their parents!
The right translation is: “Why would you choose this color?”
“Because it’s pretty!”
I think they’re trying to hide something but that obviously failed
1:55 he is actually saying my friend picks me up to class
1:57 why this color? because its beautiful

euphoriassy bloom LOL yea those college students really worked their ass off to earn that fucking Aventador right???
I just hope that they fully appreciate what they have
1:56 subtitle mishap here. "How old are you?" should be "Why do you have this car?" and the answer is "Because it's beautiful"
Cannot blame them. If my parents had that much money I would do the same
Cars in America is relatively cheap... Cars in Malaysia are 3x more expensive, while 4-5x more expensive in Singapore... And yeah.. It cost about USD 1 million to get a Aventador here...
***** Seriously though lol what is your point? No one cares.
EA40 Yup, the only people who can afford these cars are people who know nothing about it.
Wildman well, I wouldn't make that generalization. I invite you to check out and subscribe to my friends Shmee150 ***** DoctaM3 ***** Street Speed 717 Supercars of London superspeedersRob and plenty more! They know their stuff, AND they're owners.
Ok, I was wrong. But, thanks for the links!EA40
Wildman You're welcome! I don't own any of those cars, but you can subscribe to me too :) lol (I do cover cars)
+EA40 actually tesla p90d is quicker off the line- 0-60 2.8 secs, 0-30 1.3 sec
thanks to these rich Chinese kids, I have found it extremely easy to test drive any exotic cars with my Asian face although I am not rich!!!
Jon w There's absolutely no reason to thank me Jon, I've done nothing for you.
J There's also absolutely no reason to call me a dickhead.
Jon w so where's the humility in your statement? Love to contradict yourself huh, besides not having humility you're also an idiot, worst combo ever. lol
Lawrence Neri How charming your words are. I'm not surprised that you can't appreciate or comprehend the humility in my first comment.
While I am saving up for a moped to drive to school (I'm 17) and currently am delivering food as work xD
😥
Vincent at least it’s your money buddy..trust me even a moped bought from your money will make you feel much better than a car bought from your parents money.
Good luck... I hope you’ll earn more in future . It’s better to buy something with self earned money , no matter how small the thing is . It sparks joy 😊
Mad respect bro!
Idk tho
nothing surprised me ! in Middle east and other places in Emirates, owners could have 16 years, driving one million dollar cars !
***** the middle east countries have 40-50 billionaires in total, whereas there are more than 270 billionaires in China (not including Japan and South korea). So that's why this video surprised me a lot.
Pana S Japan and South Korea are not part of China.
Norell A. Winburn it's because he was referring to the entire continent of middle east, so I referred to the entire continent of east Asia.
Pana S No ! but if you want, i can refer also on the sales of luxury cars more in Middle East!
Everybody gangsta till some chinese billionaire pulls up some race cars and 5 million dollar cars
