I live in a Republican State and my kids have gotten free lunch while Trump was in office. I got free school lunch while President Bush was in office. My undergrad was covered 100 percent by Pell Grant while President Bush was in office- when Obama was elected, my Pell Grant covered tuition only, no books like when Bush was in office.

Please clarify: was it your local representatives (i.e., governor) who made those great programs possible? Because I don't recall those being nationwide programs. Sounds like they were local programs (like Walz has done in Minnesota) ? Which would definitely not have anything to do with who was or wasn't the president at the time.

Hello everyone. I'm from Germany and regularly watch the reports from the US election campaign on various channels. I've noticed that the very conservative channels like to talk about "radical leftists" when it comes to Democrats. Trump also likes to talk about Marxists and the impending end of the world when it comes to voting for the Democrats. I find that very strange. There are certainly radical leftists in the USA, just as there are in Germany or all other countries. But that has nothing at all to do with the policies of the Democrats in the USA. I claim that a truly radical leftist would never make it to the top of the Democratic Party. Radical leftists want to change the existing capitalist system in favor of socialism or communism with all their might. And they do so through violence and a revolutionary overthrow. It is easy to research very simple facts about the radical left and their goals in reputable media. Only to find out that this has nothing to do with democratic politics. On the contrary. Radical leftists reject any democratic legitimacy. They want an authoritarian state. In principle, Trump's policies are much closer to radicalism than those of all Democrats. Even if the ideas and opinions within the Democratic Party members naturally differ. It is a mystery to me how many Americans allow themselves to be so negatively influenced by the rhetoric of Republicans and right-wing media.
It really does boggle the mind doesn't it, it's nothing new though this is what cons do I remember during the Obama election cons saying he was going to open up camps and take all there guns and that he was a Muslim extremist.

@@presence5426 Depends on our economic model we look at but there is always an equilibrium for max tax revenue. If too little taxes then we are under revenue. If too much tax we also decrease max revenue because the rich spend money to protect themselves or leave.
Personally not a huge fan of lots of tax because the government can be so wasteful with spending. That’s why the US is 35 trillion in debt. Obviously they don’t know how to balance a check book. I’d rather billionaires with incredibly successful businesses deploy the capital and help out more people by creating great products and services.
