Honda XR650L Fall Dual Sport Ride Perfect Conditions

- It's been a long time coming wet fall weather but its here now and it is fantastic!
The Honda XR650L is the picture of versatility. Off-road, it dominates the trail with the right combination of power, suspension and durability. And when you’re on the road, its light overall weight, electric starter and excellent fuel efficiency make it great for commuting or even long trips.
While the graphics will catch the eye, what really sets the XR650L apart is its ultra-tough 644cc overhead cam engine that has torque and power to spare. And because it’s air-cooled, it’s easy to maintain. Plus, the engine’s gear-driven counter balancer reduces tiring vibrations, so you can ride comfortably for hours on end.
Monster trail or monster commute, the XR650L has got you covered.

I have been torn between the DR650 and the Xr650 but man I love the grunt of the 650 single.
If you're gonna ride more road, get the DR. If you want to have real fun in the woods, go with the XR. If you get a used XR, check the countershaft for wear.
@@_Bryant.R I've thought about the DR because I'm going to do more on road riding but im taller so i felt the DR might feel pretty cramped and wanted to take advantage of the higher seat height and clearance on the XR
@@zen8704if you're tall, just get the XR. I daily ride mine 20 miles to work, including 5 miles at 75+mph on the freeway. It's perfectly fine on the road.
@@zen8704the DR will serve you well . They have replacement pegs that can offset the pegs .
Nice to see you on your 650 again 😎👍
The absolute best XR650L channel ! Dig the footage
Appreciated thanks!
XR likes the cooler air and hates keeping the front on the ground. Beautiful day and thanks for sharing.
That thing sure likes to wheelie 😊
Sadly sold my '71 SL125 with XL185S motor and suspension 2 years ago - many 2 and 1 wheel memories there. Holding on to my '09 XR650L for life :-)
I just picked up an XR650l after a long hiatus from any motorcycles in general.
Nice fall ride video! just watching this on Nov 18th in Edmonton, its going to be 10*C and getting ready to take my 98 XR650L out for a late late fall ride today!!! I love my big old 650 and have done many of the similar mods you have... Awesome Bikes and Love the winding Trails, You are going to have to put out a How to Wheelie a Big Red Pig 650 Video, I need more work on that!!
Thats awesome get your riding in 10* in Alberta this time of year is crazy... get it in while you can!
Just picked up a 2016 XR650L. Working through the easy and cheap mods right now. I could see why you like it! Love the season change and the stuff you are putting out!
I'm too sick to ride mine, living vicariously through you. Nice exhaust
Get well soon I will do my best to keep ya entertained! :D
i have a plated xr650r, also have a xr400 (426) that I`ve owned since 2006 that i don`t plan on ever selling even though i don`t ride them very often because in in more muskeg country, ( have quads for that) in northern alberta
i miss the hill climbing i used to do on the xr400 when i lived in the peace river area, hence why the 426 kit and pumper carb i put on lol
I have a 1997 KLX 250 S that I will likely never get rid of. It is small and not very powerful but great to just put around on the trails.
Cool ride dude!
Hey man...absolutely love your channel and content! Awesome fleet of bikes too,I would have a similar line up if I had the space etc. You certainly help me though the winter months here with your videos!!
I found this channel a couple years ago after I picked up a non running 93 XR650L off Marketplace and have been tweeking it along the way. It is by far my favorite bike now as ride it mostly offroad.I have learned a great deal about the bike and riding tips here and now I could use some help..I have done all the mods and rejetted the carb and it runs very good overall, its just very tricky to start cold but its tuned correctly. I just think its time to move on from the old CV carb and splurge on a Mikuni pumper or even considered an Electron carb to get crisper throttle respone and easier cold starts.
I know you upgraded yours to a crf or similar but I am not sure which size MM to look for or adapter if its required..I am trying to keep the carb expense around $500 cnd but not too much over that if possible. It looks as though the easiest solution is just to order a kit offline with cables and adapters included but i usually dont do things the easy way!! 😁
Eventually I will get to most of the mods you made on your XR
Thanks in advance and keep up the great work! Cheers Pete
Your Xr650 and riding is amazing! I got to put some considerable time on a xr600r and Xr650l from 1996-2013 and wish I kept them both I miss them ... lately Ive been riding a 2009 ktm 200 xcw for the gnarly woods in Squamish . I wish they still sold the XRO650l brand new in Canada im having a tough time finding a used one that I like.....so I bought a Brand New Drz400s, I'm gonna mod it and see if I like it close to as much as the Xr600r or Xr650l.... I dont know if the drz is gonna be a keeper or a bridge the gap bike til I find a good Xr650l .There is something special about the XR650L!
I wish I could have one wekend with you . The veiws your sharing and the time you are willing to give us which time is the most important since thats all we can give our time . I have a 1990 DR350s Im debating on getting a XR650L or a TW200 . Leaning towards the XR though due to I already have a trail bike in the DR . Looking for something bigger to go farther on . Peace ✌️
Love my xr650, need to do my top end up like yours
Ya there great ol bikes worth spending money on!
Nice ride & thanks for sharing. Err, when you talk about good fuel efficiency, what kinds of numbers are you seeing? I'll go watch the build video next to see what you did (and thanks for sharing that one too!) Ride on 👍🔆
Love my 2016 xr650 will never sell it
Xr650 l is my favorite.
What mirrors are you running? I love them!
isnt there a 2023 xr 650 , blast from the past ,lol
2 questions, if you don't mind, of course. 1) What psi are you running your tires at? 2) How do you so effortlessly lift the front end on the powerline trail without spinning up the rear? I suppose it's the EXACT amount of throttle... Well done, as always.
I want to know too. My Xr650l doesn't want to wheelie. Have Fmf
pipe and jetting kit still harder to wheelie than stock.
Try changing the final drive ratio. Changing the front sprocket down to a 14 made a difference for me. A bigger rear sprocket has similar effect.
What part of Canada is this?
What tooth front and rear do you run
Fall rides on the BRP is a special treat. Question, I noticed you have a hydraulic clutch on your bike, do you mind sharing the brand, and your thoughts on making that conversion?
It was just a $30 hydraulic clutch a buddy got from aliexpress as a test turned out it worked really good so I got one! I would recommend the Magura Hydraulic clutch for the XRs as it will be much more reliable but this one seems to be working fine! Its a simple bolt on!
I very much appreciate your feedback. Cheers
Do you have a recommendation for brand and type of helmet for dual sport riding
Well I use the Klim Krios Pro's but there expensive but awesome helmets. I have not used any other specific ADV or dual sport helmets so not sure!
1975 Suzuki RL250 and a 1975 Honda TL250.
