    Would you think it's worth it to use private equity money to bring in FSU and Clemson?

    • @SurferRC
      @SurferRC หลายเดือนก่อน

      Would be yes but will they offer them that much? Are they willing to pay fsu more than other b12 schools??

    • @michaelwall3393
      @michaelwall3393 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No. Unequal revenue distribution led to the disharmony between the Big12 community back in the day. So makes no sense to risk that again plus private equity has more drawbacks than benefits. I would not get involved with private equity or private capital.

    I think the Big 12 should bring them in along with Pitt, Louisville, Virginia Tech, NC State and Miami if possible.

      I don't love how big conferences are getting, but I like all those additions. It would certainly make it very tough to leave the Big 12 behind with so many solid brands.

    FSU is not spending millions in legal fees to move laterally. Many people seem unaware that ESPN next February has the option to renew for another 9 years or walk away. That is enormous leverage. They can reconstitute the ACC anyway they want. The ACC really has very little say in it.

    • @saturdayswarriorbyu
      @saturdayswarriorbyu  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It wouldn't be a lateral move, because FSU would tip the scales. If the Big 12 is even with the ACC with FSU, then the Big 12 with FSU is much better than the ACC without FSU. Plus the private equity will help them earn more than they would in the ACC.

      @@saturdayswarriorbyu Sorry, not happening. If the Big 12 needs FSU to tip the scales, what does that say about the Big 12?

    • @saturdayswarriorbyu

      What does it say about the ACC that they need FSU and Clemson just to be basically even with the Big 12? I'm not saying I think it will happen. I'm saying I think the Big 12 is in a stronger position. Plus, FSU is putting a lot of money to leave the ACC. I don't think the Big 12 is their goal, but I do think the Big 12 puts them in a better position.

    Use private equity to get FSU, Clemson, Miami, NC, Duke, NCST, Louisville & VTech.
    Look-in should pay down PE.
    Football becomes comprable with P2.
    Maybe grab non-football schools Gonzaga, Marquette, St Johns, Villanova, Creighton & UConn for split-off of basketball.
    For non-revenue sports, create East, West & Central Divisions to reduce both cost & athletes wear & tear. Div Ratio : 14/3/3
    Football will play an evenly distributed schedule. Where applicable, Rivalry Games will be yearly.
    Basketballl will play a full-season round robin for the bulk of it's schedule.
    Thank you very much!

    • @saturdayswarriorbyu

      That conference would be gigantic, but they definitely wouldn't be getting left behind. I'm not convinced they'd need to add non- football schools though.

      I think you eventually right but don’t see any conferences going part 20 for the foreseeable future. Indont think the BIG/SEC make any moves this year. But if the B12 breaks the ACC. The I think may trigger both conferences. BIG with Stanford and SEC with UNC and UVA.

    I have heard quite a bit about the prospects of Notre Dame and Stanford coming to the Big 12. I, personally am not putting a lot of clout on the media rights deal as the only reason schools are looking to join any conference. However, it is the trajectory of the revenue increase that matters. Why on earth would any investor buy when the stock is high rather than a stock that is rising in value over-time? Right now, the SEC and Big 10 are stagnant while the Big 12 has increased by 40% in the last two years at least according to Brett Yormark. Of course, I am assuming that Brett Yormark would have credibility on the growth of the conference.
    I believe that parity will continue with Florida State and Clemson joining the league. Do you really think that the gauntlet of the Big 12 is going to be easier than the ACC?

    • @SurferRC

      As the conferences sit now yea the acc is deeper but that can change when teams bolt for a better pay day

      Great point about the buy low sell high. And the Big 12 will definitely be a tougher road than the ACC.
      You're fooling yourself if you think the ACC is deeper. They are top heavy, just like the Big 10.

      Not necessarily. It's possible the other two don't offer them spots or they have to go in at a reduced share. But yes, the offer would have to be really enticing to get them to pass up on the Big 10 or SEC.

      Texas and Oklahoma did not own the Big 12 when they were here. In fact, they had not won a championship in the last fifteen years. Texas has long had more money than any team in the SEC or the Big 10. So, did you want to try again?

      @@dfausti66Texas won the Big12 last season silly; and prior to that in 2020 Oklahoma won it and in 2019 Oklahoma and Texas played for the title. Last time I checked, that is not 15 years. Also schools currently in the Big12 or formerly in the conference that have never won a Big12 championship outright or won a Big12 championship game.
      Iowa St
      Kansas
      Texas Tech
      West Virginia
      TCU (split doesn’t count plus lost head to head to Baylor who was the recognized Big12 conference champion representative)
      Missouri
      I am excluding the 8 new members for now but in 4-5 years can reevaluate and place here who should be.
      The Schools that have won a Big12 championship outright or a conference championship game.
      Oklahoma
      Texas
      Nebraska
      Kansas State
      Colorado
      Oklahoma State
      Texas A&M
      Baylor
      The schools I think in the next 5 years that could win the conference championship or be in the running to win the championship are as follows.
      Utah
      Oklahoma State
      Houston
      UCF
      Kansas State
      Arizona
      Arizona State
      TCU
      West Virginia
      Kansas
      These are the ten schools that are most likely to be competitive with a chance to earn a spot in the conference championship game as 1 of the 2 teams. BYU and Cincinnati could also play for a conference championship in five years or so but both teams have more work to do than originally thought and don’t condone getting rid of their head coaches either if have another losing season.

      They'll do well, but the Big 12 is deeper than the ACC. FSU has been a mixed bag and Clemson looks to be in a relative decline (their decline still being way better than most teams). But I wouldn't see a problem with them being amongst the best teams in the conference.

    Your reporting is off. Stanford got rejected because they traveling partner was CAL it didn't have anything to do with ND ☘️ at that time. ND ☘️ can absolutely request Stanford as they partner to join the B1G

    • @saturdayswarriorbyu
      @saturdayswarriorbyu  หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is closer to how I've understood it, but all I said is I've heard that about ND and Stanford. The point remains, they chose not to add Stanford (they could've added them instead of Oregon since their academics aren't nearly as good and it's a bigger market). And ND is the real point that I'm making. They've continually rejected opportunities to join the Big 10. I don't think anything has changed to make them do it now.
