Awesome how someone noticed that. Everybody's here trying to see how they could relate and look up to the face of the show. You're there thankful for the way something didn't go wrong.
thats one of my big pet peeves. especially during acoustic shows. GO OUT SIDE and talk if you wanna chat. We are here to see awesome music so shut up. - Luke of AM
awesome man, i was following on with the song but always just kinda get amazed and stop paying attention to the chords and get all goo goo eyed lol.....this just validates where i was going and makes the process easier! thanks!
There's no accounting for taste. Johnny's seems more soulful about the meaning; this seems more conscious of making a performance of it. Still excellent though!
This version lack the mournful subtlety of Waits’ and Cash’s versions. This seemed like a lot of unnecessary yelling. Ending was especially bad. But, hey … there’s no accounting for taste.
This man is the most perfect musician ever. Seriously. He can do no wrong.
One of the best covers I've ever seen. The ending is just insane.
holy crap. thanks for the goosebumps for the 8579256203827598561th time dustin. Just saw him in boston and never wanted it to end
best cover of the song and i am a huge tom waits fan!!!!! the fact that its acoustic is even more stunning!!
I literally got chills at the ending...that was beautiful.
Tom waits stab me in the heart Kensrue!!!!

best performance of this song ever!!

One word: YES!
Amazing
Beautiful dude!
Is there any song that this man can't cover and make sound amazing?
4:25 - 5:13 is where it's at. my god.

What are the chords he plays on this version? I know its Capo 6
Wow never thought I'd type these words, but maybe that was better than Johnny Cash's version...
NotoTruth Waaay better. Johnny's, to me, is third behind this. At the top is the original, of course, by Tom.

Thank you at minimum for giving credit to Johnny Cash.
Right?! I saw The Civil Wars in Philly and the crowd was loudly singing along the whole time! It almost ruined the whole thing. Almost.
Nope. He's perfect music incarnate.
peace
Its C F C F G for the first half of the verse then F C E Am for the second half. chorus is just C F

awful take
It’s a good cover, but it certainly doesn’t compete with Waits. @@Absolut187
Alt take: he passionately screams and yells 4 effect like waits does
Amazing
