This is probably the best song about a cheating partner that i've ever listened to. She perfectly encapsulated the feelings a cheated person can feel. Brightest Blue was a masterpiece and is her best album period 💙
This would’ve fit perfectly the Brightest Blue tracklist, it’s such a shame the label scrapped it in the end, she even talked about this in an interview before the relase of the album
Once again a record label gets in the way of an artist by only releasing what they feel will make money instead of any artistic imperative. Dumb! Great song:)
LYRICS: I walked fast, think I walked for hours I got to a lake and threw my phone in We found love, higher than towers But you have to jump Get a taste of the old times Her eyes were green and mine are brown She’s in your dreams, wearing a crown What is this greed all over you Why did I bleed this blood for you? I feel electricity (From my head to my toes) Beautiful simplicity (What a high way you chose) I feel electricity You wrap me tightly around your fingers Same hands, clinging to her When we met, you said this could be dangerous You can’t brace yourself for this kind of hurt How does it feel to kill someone Took the light from me, you set the sun Who will i be, without deceit Drop to my knees for honesty I feel electricity (From my head to my toes) Beautiful simplicity (What a high way you chose) I feel electricity I am proud for myself for forgiving what you’ve done Now I can move on I can overcome (I can overcome) I am proud I walked away, when all I wanted was to stay Now I can move on It’s a brand new day (brand new day) I am for myself for forgiving what you’ve done Now I can move on I can overcome (It’s a brand new day) I am proud I walked away, when all I wanted was to stay Now I can move on It’s a brand new day I feel electricity Beautiful simplicity I feel electricity
Polydor always did injustice to her by not promoting her deserving music, it's not new. And particularly in Brightest Blue, Ellie revealed in an interview that her label is blocking to release her sad songs , like she talked about Electricity & Flux as her sad songs to be released in an The Guardian interview.. th-cam.com/video/x03YnRXrCfw/w-d-xo.html (the interview where she talked about her label)
After Bleach would have been perfect. But because of Flux, the song would have been too much on the album. A Brightest Blue reissue with Electricity in it could've been great.
@@Apollo_M1997 but it might actually end up on a future album as she said in one of her tick-tock’s that she recorded easy lover, five years ago, so there’s still hope
Most probably her trash label Polydor don't want to release her sad songs & project her as an artist, that's why they gave no promo for the Brightest Blue. Actually she talked about Electricity & Flux in an newspaper tabloid long ago as her saddest songs, she also expressed her label's disinterest in it. Actually it was intended to be in Brightest Blue. @@goldentimes7731 Yeah i've heard about this when it was out. Ellie has released one of the best ballads since the beginning of her career but because Burn has shown that she can play that pop star game, they stood stuck on it and don't want to move on and so don't allow her to evolve correctly has an artist, that's why we waited more than 2 years for BB to be released. Such a shame... 😒 Polydor is a shitty label, thank god it's her last album under them
@@Apollo_M1997 yeah then you know the whole thing about Polydor. In Cambridge University talks, Ellie even told that she lost her creative control in Delirium and thinks it's completely unauthentic with her real personality. They even forced her to stay blonde, to wear revealing stage outfits with which she was uncomfortable with. In Brightest Blue she didn't get any promo for the album as it wasn't in the lines of "pop album" by Polydor. In short Polydor tried to destroy Raye and now still destroying Ellie in their trap.
@@goldentimes7731 That is crazy!!! As much as i love Delirium, this album wasn't completely her even if there's still her personal touch. I didn't know about the control over her clothes and hair, she is beautiful anyway who cares if she is blonde or not? Record labels are so unlogical, they want to make profit about the artists but they don't promote them like... Make It make sense 😶 And the fact that they lack trust over her artistry when she is 100% capable of making hits by her own without sacrificing her personality is beyond stupidity 🤦♂️ Higher Than Heaven sounds amazing and they're gonna let this record down again just like Brightest Blue... Oh no, what a waste. Hope it makes it to a bonus list or something.
Sad songs are the best.
Knowing she won’t perform this cause she didn’t officially release this herself brings me to tears. This song is so beautiful❤️
hey theresa
Literally thought the same 😭 so sad
and I was thinking how I never heard this song 🤔😱 I loved this song too
This song hits so hard
Yeah, Ellie Goulding is definitely a queen ❤👑
God bless you Ellie powerful song!!

Her voice is so mature now 🥺🖤
Listen to Brightest Blue to take glance on her matured vocals & lyrics
According to Ellie, Electricity is about her friend's feeling about being cheated in a relationship for a long time.
Great song Ellie
LYRICS:
I walked fast, think I walked for hours
I got to a lake and threw my phone in
We found love, higher than towers
But you have to jump
Get a taste of the old times
Her eyes were green and mine are brown
She’s in your dreams, wearing a crown
What is this greed all over you
Why did I bleed this blood for you?
I feel electricity
(From my head to my toes)
Beautiful simplicity
(What a high way you chose)
I feel electricity
You wrap me tightly around your fingers
Same hands, clinging to her
When we met, you said this could be dangerous
You can’t brace yourself for this kind of hurt
How does it feel to kill someone
Took the light from me, you set the sun
Who will i be, without deceit
Drop to my knees for honesty
I feel electricity
(From my head to my toes)
Beautiful simplicity
(What a high way you chose)
I feel electricity
I am proud for myself for forgiving what you’ve done
Now I can move on
I can overcome
(I can overcome)
I am proud I walked away, when all I wanted was to stay
Now I can move on
It’s a brand new day
(brand new day)
I am for myself for forgiving what you’ve done
Now I can move on
I can overcome
(It’s a brand new day)
I am proud I walked away, when all I wanted was to stay
Now I can move on
It’s a brand new day
I feel electricity
Beautiful simplicity
I feel electricity
"Why did I bleed this blood for you?" Reminds me of the line "With all the blood I lost with you" in My Blood
❤️❤️
