    The cadenza is mad, dark and misterious, I loved it! First time I listen to you playing, what a great start. Thank you for sharing your talent. Best wishes from a new fan in Brasil. Grazie!

    aww man, this cadenza is everything Liszt would have loved. Unexpected, passionate, deep, technically abusive. And it gives homage to his dear friend, Chopin, with respect to the Etude-like runs in the early-middle of the cadenza. FUCKING FANTASTIC!

      Verissimo, così come la genialità è l`energia che muove tali ingranaggi. È così a mio modo di vedere, che nascono i "classici". C`è molta energia all`opera qui. Per me è nato un nuovo classico.

    Maestro Marzocchi! Your "cadenza" is a magnificent composition on its own right! Fantastic imagination and incredible skill both in terms of technique and composition. Do you perform it independently from the Liszt Rhapsody, as well? Or only as a cadenza?
    Thank you for your music!

    • @trillice87
      @trillice87  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dear Gergely, thank you very much! The cadenza is part of a collection of four cadenzas, that i entitled "Four variations in "cadenza form" on the second Hungarian Rhapsody". I never performed them independently from the "theme", but maybe it should be possible..!

    • @gergelykiss

      Wow, that's very exciting - there are four more of them! It is only one opinion, but I think they would make an artistically (and of course thematically) coherent set for performance. They are also a great tribute to Liszt! Combining Dies Irae and themes from the 2nd Rhapsody is such a novel idea - but somehow you make it work perfectly! Also, I just listened to your Albanian folk songs - truly amazing pieces as well! I hope you will keep on composing folk-based piano pieces! (The Balkans is such a rich source of material.) Again, all I can say is: thank you for your music! All the best!

    • @trillice87
      @trillice87  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      True! The story is exactly an idea suitable for a novel... How could I think to combine the "dies irae" with the rhapsody? That's because about 17 years ago i was involved into a madness episode (real madness, my homeowner got crazy(, and since then the piece was intimately connected with madness.. but I cannot write it here...!

    11:14 Totentanz????

    • @trillice87
      @trillice87  6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Yes, the gregorian theme "Dies Irae" is the same used by Liszt in Totentanz... but also by Berlioz in Symphonie Fantastique, by Rachmaninov in the Paganini Variations. But this theme is often used as a musical symbol of madness. After a "madness episode" that happened 17 years ago, while I was practicing the Hungarian Rhapsody n2, this piece is now for me intimately connected with madness. So I started to try to entangle the themes of this composition with "Dies Irae" theme, as a joke, and after few years I wrote "madness cadenza"...

    Why Dies irae?
    Why not happy birthday?
    God save the queen?
    I'm sorry, I don't get it.
    It's cleverly done of course, but... why on earth?

    • @trillice87
      @trillice87  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dear Alberthus Magnus, you're right, but there are always reasons when you write music... The cadenza is part of a larger work, "Four Variations in Cadenza Form after Hungarian Rhapsody n.2" (no "Dies Irae" in the other...), and this one is exactly a piece about madness. Why "Dies Irae"? I had the idea to combine the "Dies Irae" theme with the rhapsody because about 20 years ago i was involved into a madness episode (no kidding, I'm speaking of real madness, my homeowner got crazy during one night, it was one of the strongest fear in my life..), while I was practicing this Rhapsody for the first time, and since then this work is for me intimately connected with madness.. I was living in countryside, and I remember that after that episode everything around me and the house where I was living was distorted and weird, the trees, the house, the sounds of the crickets and birds.... So you hear Liszt themes slowing getting "infected" by the madness theme, till the extreme craziness. I hope these pieces of information could be useful!

    • @AlbertJohnLuth
      @AlbertJohnLuth 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@trillice87 Thank you for your reply! I was thinking about what you said. For me the most dissapointing moment occurs when you finished your cadenza and continue with the Liszt's original run again. We all know Liszt's ending. Have you thought of rewriting it and making it as if it is distorted by the crazyness you discribe? And by it tying your cadenza and the original ending together as it where? Just a thought and obviously intirely up to you. Thanks again for your reaction.

      you're right. The theme is the same used by Liszt in Totentanz, and it is the gregorian melody "Dies Irae" (used by Berlioz in the Shymponie Fantastique, before Liszt), same in the opening sequence in "Shining" by Stanley Kubrick...
