    Because of your video I just ordered my cousin Jeremy jacket. You are the only advertisement for this jacket, without your video who would know about this jacket!

    Great review. Appreciate your comments. I'm fortunate to live in Mn, a couple of hours from Aerostitch's shop, and am accustomed to riding in freezing cold, rain (or snow), and heat. They all come with the territory up here. Great stuff. I'm looking to replace an old worn out suit, and was thinking of the Jeremy. BTW, the 75 looks great.

    Awesome. Just found your video/channel while going down the Aerostich rabbit hole. I got fitted when Aerostich had a pop-up locally a few months back, then scored an old Roadcrafter Classic on eBay. Love it, and love your review as well. Subscribed. Thanks 🤙✌️🍻

    Loved your comments on the Waxed Cotton jacket. I bought one shortly after they came out, ( Falstaff-Darien design, but waxed cotton)used it a few times, and it's been hanging for a while. Going to get it out, and get it broken in now that I retired 7 months ago. By the way, nice /6. Had a 75/6 myself, 76, in BolD'or red-shoud have never sold it...

    I recently submitted a vintage (15 year) Roadcrafter waxed cotton jacket for paid (non warranty) repair. The cotton material in the vicinity of both inside elbow areas was deteriorating due to normal, longterm wear. The remainder of the jacket was good as new. Aerostich Repairs declined to repair the jacket stating that they had not had good results repairing waxed cotton garments.

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      ramaddocks that’s interesting, the waxed cotton roadcrafter “cousin Jeremy” has not been in production that long

    • @ramaddocks
      @ramaddocks 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Aerostich waxed-cotton jacket was previously marketed as the "Falstaff." Basically a Darien made with waxed cotton material. My wife and I have 3 vintage Roadcrafter nylon suits (two one-piece and one two-piece). Have never had a problem with any of them. In my experience, the waxed-cotton is less durable.

    How do you keep your CJ so clean? My suit is dark, dirty brown with light brown in the creases, and it is less than a year old. Perhaps mine has more wax on the surface? Regardless, I'm not complaining. It is my favorite jacket and pants, and the dirt gives me instant "cred" at Starbucks. Oh...I never go to Starbucks and I have been riding for 20 years.

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe that the camera has you fooled. It’s much darker than when purchased. It was a very light colored tan at that point. Maybe that your has more wax, I purchased mine and rode off into some heat with temps over 100 before I made my way back home. During that heat the jacket gets really soft as the wax softens from the heat. Not sure what effect that has over all. I just relaxed an old belstaff that was my dads jacket, after the process I put the jacket out into the hot summer sun and the heat made a more uniform wax distribution. I’m with you though, I prefer a local cafe to Starbucks....don’t tell my Harley friends, I’ll fall out of favor ;)

    Got a question regarding the back pad. Switch to my R3 from the classic and felt like the back pad was pushing into my neck. My shoulders were killing me after s one hour ride. Do you ride with the back pad?

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same issue here with the exception that it was pushing on the base of my helmet. I pull my back pad al the way down until the Velcro just touches the the jacket’s Velcro. The bottom doesn’t fit like it should but it stopped the problem for me.

    • @arthurb8631
      @arthurb8631 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      John Ogden thank you! I just did that I thought it was me. I also pulled the shoulder pads further away from my neck also.

    I have a Roadcrafter Classic and a Transit suit. Love them both, but I live in SE Asia and it gets hot and humid. Not a problem out on the road, but around town, it gets bad. I am thinking about a Falstaff jacket, which is a lighter canvas than the CJ. Any thoughts?

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s humid here as well, today it’s 100% humidity. If I was choosing between the two for humid weather, I would go CJ. Reason being the Falstaff has a cotton liner. That will make the jack much hotter and retain odor. The liner on the CJ is nylon which wicks moister and doesn’t retain order. As you know in the humid climates we sweat a lot and the liner needs to get rid of the water. If I didn’t care about it being waxed cotton then the Darien would be some what cooler, just because it’s a looser cut that would allow more air movement.

    • @ramaddocks
      @ramaddocks 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      See my comment above regarding their waxed-cotton jackets. My wife and I have a total of three Roadcrafter one- and two-piece suits. The nylon suits are substantially more durable and easy to successfully repair than the wax-cotton apparel. Just my opinion.

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on where you ride most often and your type of riding. I think the standard Roadcrafter would be my pick.

    Looking at getting this coat or Darien light. Anyone want to weigh in. Iowa. Ride all year if possible. Snow is a no go for me.

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Darien is a looser cut and slightly longer with more belly room. The Darien doesn’t have any material between you and the goretex, thus some care must be taken to not abrade the waterproof liner. The blue Darien behind me has some of the goretex rubbed thin and will leak. Not sure on the long term use of the waxed cotton jacket. Since this vid I have put another 6,000 miles on it and it’s still going strong, but is not as easy to care for as the cordura. Especially where cleaning is involved.

    • @Kyrodan022

    • @JohnOgdenJr

      Dan Schumacher, D.C. between the two, i would take the CJ, out of all of the their offerings I would take the Roadcrafter classsic.

    • @JohnOgdenJr
      @JohnOgdenJr  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Scott Wickens I do, when on long trips, once it crosses 100 you need something like this to protect you from the heat and this is better than air mesh, especially if the humidity is low.

      @@JohnOgdenJr I agree -- I discovered doing a saddlesore ride that took us from Canada south through Nevada in one day -- in really hot weather it was better to keep my heavy gear on cuz it insulated me from the direct heat. I took my gear off and it felt like I was being blasted by a heat gun. Opening some vents was like air conditioning -- like you said in the video.
