dsp4 living in the southern United States, my first thought was roller skates which confused the hell out of me. Your comment brought me to the light. 😆😂😭🤦♂️
Even though I knew he meant ice skates, I thought ice skates were concave... like a slot running down the blade? How/why would you sharpen that? Haha I just watched a video once on how ice skates work (which is actually super cool. They hydroplane!) But it never mentioned sharpening so now my mind is blown! Either Ryan is an idiot (which I doubt) or a video entirely about how skates work left out a major part! Haha wtf! Time to get lost in the google hole again!
Ryan did you write Frogg Toggs Warranty Conditions? Quote: _Our warranty does not cover damage inflicted by tree branches, fish hooks, fillet knives, shotguns, chainsaws, falling down a mountain, failure of your chute to open, fire-walking, becoming a porcupine’s love interest, gator wrestling or any similar brushes with Mother Nature and its inhabitants_
Froggs are fantastic, however, you have to purchase the heat shield patch, and glue it in place as per instructions. The jacket is very comfortable, it doesn’t make you all sweaty inside, although it does turn you into a bit of a sail. Frogg Togo’s - good kit.
The only thing better would be if those had all happened, they did cover it under warranty because they didn't explicitly state otherwise, and only then did they exclude it.

I have used Frogg Toggs for years and they work great for the price. They are also great cold weather gear. Yesterday, I rode all day in temps from 32 to 56 wearing only a cotton t-shirt, mesh riding jacket and Frogg Toggs as the outer layer. Since I carry the rain gear anyway and it packs a little bulky, I just use it also as part of my cold weather kit.
This has to be one of the best Moto vlogs out there. Nice one. Though I am 4 years late, I am just restarting out after a 35year hiatus from riding bikes.

I rode for 17 years year round before I finally got my class 5 car license and I am DONE with riding in the rain. Having said that I plan to get some Rainex for my visor and Frog Togs for emergencies. Great vid and good on you and crew for doing it in an actual rain forest.
is quite relaxing earing the rain in the helmet, just enjoying the ride...all the little details, the smell and all that stuff, i laugh every time ii see one of those "last ride of the season" comments, the joy and feel that you get reaching destination after a 8 hour trip that has been raining and cold(it was between -2º and 5º) is just sooooo satisfying, i just ride a jacket that the dealer gifted me when i purchased my old 1999 sv650s with 3 layters of termic (not even 30€ for all 3) some leggings, snowboard socks and 30€ bike pants that i got on a 2nd hand store and winter gloves with under gloves to help, easy and cheap, also for rain i use a 6€ working rain gear, stops the wind and protects from rain
Love my frog togs once rode home in a flash flood covering the street about two inches under my air cleaner (foot and a half deep) car drove by causing a wave to go over my gas tank from the side got home my feet up to my ankles were the only things that had gotten wet i was amazed how well they did! Can't beat them for the price
Before you reapply ANY DWR, you should CLEAN your waterproof / breathable gear with an approved cleaner, e.g. Nikwax, Granger, etc. Dirty, oily gear is just as bad as gear with a worn-off DWR. You're more likely to "get wet" from sweating too much underneath any waterproof, breathable laminate, especially if humidity is high (these laminates need a temperature/humidity gradient to work effectively). These aren't loose weave linen shirts.
Man I’ve watched almost all of your motorcycle videos about gear, bikes, and tips about maintaining and buying the best products for your bike but I don’t actually own or driven a motorcycle but I love your videos man keep up the good work! I’m hoping to get some motorcycle classes and maybe get my license. I’m hoping I also get my first bike this year! All because your videos showed me the love! And the awesomeness of riding!
I used to commute year-round near Seattle. Learned to love, well at least not mind the rain and at times welcomed it. A good rain told me two things, the roads should be "clean" (meaning not oily) and there shouldn't be any ice. It was time to ride. For a DWR, a couple time a year, when I'd been splashed with enough gunk and/or the insides were getting "ripe", I'd wash my gear then use Nikwax wash-in on my outer layer. Like Ryan described the out sheds most, then my mid breathable/waterproof layer didn't need to work as hard and worked better. Loved the spoofed theme....
Spent a few years in a US Army Airborne unit in the 1980s we learned to layer in all four seasons and climate. Every bit of clothing that can serve numerous functions and is light dry and comfortable is the way to Go....Gortex yes expense but work

I have no desire to ride in the rain, yet I still clicked on this video knowing it’s from Fort9. Educational, creative, funny, just all around great channel!
TW200 FTW! Living in the Pacific Northwest, if you aren't riding in the rain, you are barely riding. I commute to work in the evening and it is sunny and 65 degrees, come home in the morning and it is raining and 40. I wear overpants that are waterproof that are a couple steps up from Frog Toggs (they have armor and a zipper) but much cheaper than $400 science fiction jeans. Great video as always.
I've got them for around 120€ in a Sale this year. They are completely water repellent, comfy, noisy as ski-clothing, hot at every weather condition above 15°C (but so is my leather gear) and have some of the most annoying protector pockets I've seen so far. But yeah, they look like normal straight leg jeans and are absolut beasts in cold and rainy conditions.
OMG, i just spent 12 minutes watching a video about wearing rain gear and running in the forest when it's raining. The craziest thing is, i was in the middle of a movie and paused it because this was wayyyyy more interesting.. thanks Ryan :)
I agree with your tactics, IF ITS COLD. Anything that is waterproof will be less breathable, making it very uncomfortable in HOTTER weather. It might not get much above 25C in Canada, but for a lot of us, most of our riding is in the summer months when the heat gets much hotter. Also, motorcycle specific waterproof gear is expensive! My solution: Wear well fitting, breathable, lightweight moto-gear as the base-layer, then add layers over top for warmth/waterproofing. When it's hot, that's all you need, and you're more comfortable. When it's wet, throw on a normal outdoor gear rain jacket and pants, over-top of your moto gear. It's easy to keep on the bike, as outdoor gear is very thin, breathable and packable. I'd also recommend waterproof boot covers, as it seems no matter how long the waterproof pants are, they always find a way to ride up, and expose the opening to the top of my waterproof boots.
I thoroughly enjoy your sense of humour and the intelligent take on life and motorcycling. I especially am proud of your Canadian content. Regards. John in Alberta

Man - I hope you are being appreciated over there at FortNine. I've been watching your videos all morning for things I don't even need to know just to see your level of creativity, humour, directing and producing. Ryan dude, you're a legend. You have a very good, no dammit - you have a superb turn of phrase Sir. I've commented on this video but it's stands for all of them. I salute you Sir.
Ryan, thank you for making such videos. Very well made and lot of effort doing them. I've been using every single recommendation that you had and they all worked incredibly well. Thank you very much!
Love it Ryan. Luvvvvvviiiiiiiiit. , as per all of your vids. Whenever I have a quandary in "gear" selection, and type in a search, you're always in the top couple of video options. A kind of "Googlyan" if you will. Needless to say, I always watch your vids before deciding. Not ONLY for the microscopic technical detail - but equally for the entertainment value. There is no other biker (my opinion of course) with a You Tube channel who is the consummate pro that offers all of the above. The time, effort, scientific / engineering knowledge, but more importantly, the PASSION that you put in, is the reason you are the first point of reference - even though you are the same age as my lad :-). I just started watching your interview / discussion with TMF, and was blown away that you two lads are connected. Rock on Ryan. Rock on mate. God Bless - keep safe mate. Cheers

Ok, dis is gettin better and better.
Not dis....this. Don't be lazy. I'm on a phone sometimes too when typing comments.

The work you guys do on these videos is fantastic. Your humour is well placed, message well delivered, puns are out of this world and the video shots and editing are all great too. Kick ass. Keep making more!
I laughed out loud when he put on the ‘hi vis’ goggles and then ran into a tree.
Ryan dude, you're a legend. You have a very good, no dammit - you have a superb turn of phrase Sir. I've commented on this video but it's stands for all of them. I salute you Sir.
Your videos are getting progressively weirder...
It's awesome!
Yes, but in a good way :))
in a good way
I agree and a little corny maybe???
So take it you have not watched any Bear Grylls man vs wild episodes.
Love Ryan's sense of humour in his entertaining and intelligent videos.
From about 9:40 the video got 100% weirder and funnier
As someone living in Oregon and planning to use my bike as a daily commuter, this video is gonna be real helpful when next fall comes around
A shout out to Les Stroud (Survivorman), very nice F9....Very nice.
Les is a beast.
Ryan, thank you for making such videos. Very well made and lot of effort doing them. I've been using every single recommendation that you had and they all worked incredibly well. Thank you very much!
Wow bro, you are a cut above!
Thanks for informative entertainment... so refreshing after an election. 😂😵😂
Easily the best riding channel out there.

I understood that reference *Captain America pointing his finger at you*
The ratio of comedy to information is perfect. Thank you!
Need a 2024 update.
Haha! Man, you are seriously the hardest working MC TH-camr ever! Love the content bro! Keep it up 👍🏼
My rain x is missing the number one ingredient......Les Stroud
Cheers
