@@tomdavisofficial Tom, I pray you can feel how you touch ppl's lives. Seeing dogs respond to you usually makes me happy cry. I like and comment as often as I can because I know it helps you continue to save dogs. I share and encourage friends to subscribe too. Life for you will just continue to get better and better. This I know w certainty.
I'm disabled and am searching for a trainable service dog. I can't afford to buy one. So I look to you to help me train. I like your style and confidence over other trainers I've watched. Do you offer online coaching?

It’s always good to hear the owners asking a lot of questions because it’s not just a “fix my dog” it’s a “how can I better myself for my dog”. Plus it’s helps all of us learn too! Great job.

He’s such a happy pup after a little bit of direction! This is a great reminder of how important it is to be the “leader” and not be so hyper focused on watching your dog the entire time. I know I needed to hear it again. Thanks for all you do, Tom!

This is a great reminder for me to keep my eyes forward. The one thing I always forget is to not stare at my dog while trying to get her to do that heel! I'm so focused on trying to get HER focus, that we just lose it all-together. It's so hard! 😅

In 1974 I had a border collie cross dog that I took through obedience class and on my instructor taught exactly as you do Tom it's so good to see this again so refreshing it's far better to do one little pop then a constant drag drag in the dogs don't learn anything and your reference to being like on a horse with a horse is spot on you can't drag a horse around they have to learn just the same way you don't want to have to drag your dog around they can learn. And to be held accountable for their actions so many times people have these dogs that bark and jump and stuff but they don't know not to nobody's told them not to do it

It blows my mind that a vet said he should be euthanized just for his fearful reactivity. 🤯 He’s a sweet boy and he was just looking for some guidance to feel more confident and trust in his owners! Great job Tom, Geo, and Geo’s owners!

    • @kingkungu

Vets are great at medical treatments, surgeries and medicine not behavior modification. It's easier for them to press the syringe rather than use leash pressure or corrections. 🙃

    • @emilka2033
      @emilka2033 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Vets are for the most part not behavioral modification specialists and have limited resources - when a dog displays behavior that is potentially harmful to other people they will recommend euthanasia if the owner is not able to train the dog for whatever reason like financial or liability problems. It's a public safety issue and the vet literally can't offer anything else to the client in these kinds of situations. 99% of vets will recommend euthanasia to people with dogs that risk biting someone. (I worked at a vet clinic for a few years and know this process). I wouldn't blame the vet or say that it's the "easy" thing to do because it isn't, and people who euthanize their dogs due to behavioral issues have usually expended all of their options.

I'm in a wheelchair I rescued a Pitbull from the shelter and he has a mind of his own he thinks he's the boss and I hate having a dog on a dog leash I need to work with him a lot more than I do but there's days where I just don't feel I have a big fenced-in yard he finds ways of breaking out and he acts really strange around kids like I can't trust him and if there is a gate or any barrier in between me and somebody else his defense mode goes way up and I learned so many things from your TH-cam channel I just need to put them to work you have one of the best channels ever I'm going to get me one of those leashes and tried to work with him like he's just a lot to work with and deal with he's strong hopefully we will get there one day he's about two and a half years old 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

It's such a great pleasure watching, when your clients and their dogs practically "inhale" the training! The dogs eyes when they really look at them for the first time and you can tell that they are correctly perceiving the change in their behavior. Something like "oh, that's what you want f me to do" or "that's how I should do it" and "ok, you say where to go, you have the responsibility", thats what's lieing in their gaze.
It's always fascinating watching how the connection you're talking about actually becomes truely visible. It's amazing how much our dogs are able to give. How much they're giving back to us, when we do the right thing at the right moments. And so the dogs are able to make the right decisions as a result.
It's simply admirable how you manage to convey exactly that to your clients. You have my greatest respect for that! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Thank you so much that we can watch all this for free - in favor for the beloved dogs out here. 🥰 We can't thank you enough! 🙌🏻🙏🤗

I’m a recent follower and I’m so amazed how You work the dog and the owner
I’m still working the stray I found in January. It’s a long road but it’s worth it. I’m trying to save his life. No one would take him ( rescues) so I kept him.
Today I fell in my yard and couldn’t get up ( I suffer from chronic pain and once I’m down I’m down)
Sarge came right to me and stood strong to help me get up. He didn’t care that I was pulling down on him or his collar. Maybe he did find me for a reason. But know he needs to learn to love my family
Thank you for giving me knowledge I can use. 🐾

Tom, this video is, in my opinion, the best explanation you've given that helps us humans understand what our dog is thinking and how they think about what is happening at any given moment, and the best, quickest, and easiest way for us humans to communicate with our dog.
How often during the daily walks do you allow your dog to be a dog?
What I do is bring my dog in and heal, slow, quicken up, turn and cross to the other side of the road...then after about 5-8 minutes, I tell him to "go sniff" and allow him to well, go sniff a few places and telling him "good sniff" as he starts sniffing. After about 2-3 minutes, "heal" and we're back at it, checking the neighborhood.

This video gives me hope, I can see my dog in this one and with patience and correct training I want to achieve this for him. Thank you!

omg Tom, at ~17 min (when music cued), Geo's tail was wagging, he's walking so nice, he's relaxed, no wild eyes, & you can literally see the confidence & happiness in him. Beautiful! makes tears run outta my eyes lol. THIS is why you're on this earth, the man with the gift & heart for dogs. i freaking love this. ty so much.
