Sure thing, Cats never been to a supermarket and don't even know what it is. Here you claim they know if I have been to one. Cats can smell the scent of other cats, people, and animals. However, if they have never met them will never know who it was.

My baby girl (who passed away in Dec. 2022) always knew where I was in the house...so I used to play games with her. When she was downstairs, I go to a place where she'd never look and stay perfectly still. Sure enough, she'd come upstairs and start looking for me. I looked around the corner once and she went room to room looking for me. Then she'd start calling me. It was so cute! It's been a year and I still miss her every day. I even talk to her picture. We had such a special bond.

I had a kitten about 7days old who was abandoned by its mother and I raised him
We had a very special bond and he was soo smart he was admired by anyone who met him.
But I lost him when he was two years old .we used to go for walk together, play together, play hide and seek, catch a catch etc.

I remember when I had shoulder surgery and was laid up after the adrenaline and painkillers wore off. The three of my cats at the time took shifts laying on the crook on my free arm for 3 days straight. When one left to eat or go to the bathroom, another one took their place. I'll never forget that, all three are gone now but for that brief time I remember they all came together to give me their positive energy!

We had a black cat who wouldn't leave a sick family member til they were better. He was so smart, so "different." People noticed. Once my daughter twisted her ankle when Sweetheart was nowhere around. It wasn't severe, didn't swell, but she laid on the sofa all evening. Sweetheart climbed up with her and licked her ankle, off and on all evening, and stayed there with her. He was amazing. He passed 25 yrs ago, but we still talk about him and the endless amazing and funny stories he left with us. Losing him was so horribly painful. I had a lucid dream about him when I was deep in grief that let me know he's still alive and loves us. I'll be with him again. ❤

I had my tuxedo cat for 16 years. He was a polydactyl cat with paws like catchers' mitts. He knew everything and was especially fond of my husband. When my husband became fatally ill over a 3 year period, Polytoecrates became very close with him and was anxious for him. When my husband died, my cat went and sat facing a corner and would not eat or sleep. Seldom even to the box. That lasted for 4 days, exactly to the moment when my husband's ashes were scattered according to my "kitty sitter".

Being a cat owner for many years, I've learned these facts. We treat our cats like children and talk to them all the time. They understand a good deal of our language and often teach themselves to speak actual words. We've had numerous cats call my wife Grandma and several learned to say hello. Like children, the first word they learn is "no". Cats are extremely intelligent, vocal and loving to those who show them love.

    • @TheCuriousCatt
      @TheCuriousCatt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It's incredible how cats can adapt to human language and even develop their own ways of vocalizing. The bond you share with your cats, where they learn to mimic words and respond to your communication, is truly special. They become a part of the family, picking up on the nuances of our speech just like children do. The fact that they show intelligence, expressiveness, and love in return is a testament to the unique connection between humans and cats! 💜

I chose my girl from the website of my local shelter, went immediately to visit her in the cat room and could tell that she was bewildered from having lost her previous family who'd surrendered her only because they could no longer afford pets. At 8 years old, it took her just a couple of weeks at my home to realize that she was very wanted. She always shows her love of our attachment, and now at age 13 is a lively sprite. I'd heard a vet say that animals know when they've been rescued and are grateful, which must be truer of senior pets.

Cats have incredible emotions. I was recently in the hospital for a week. I had no choice but to have someone my kitty did not know to come in daily to feed her. I missed her so badly while I was in the hospital. When i got home my kitty stuck to me like glue. For 3 days she wouldn't let me out of her sight, she followed me everywhere.
In normal circumstances she sits me me on and off but has always liked me being at home.
She was somewhat traumatized while I was in the hospital. I think she thought i might not be coming back.
I feel badly about it but there was nothing i could do.

    • @TheCuriousCatt
      @TheCuriousCatt  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

It sounds like your kitty was really attached to you and missed you a lot while you were in the hospital. Cats can definitely sense when something is different or when their owners are not around. It's understandable that she would feel a bit unsettled during that time. The fact that she stuck to you like glue when you returned shows how much she loves and cares for you. It's not easy being away from our pets, but sometimes it's necessary, and I'm sure your kitty understands that you had to be away for a while. It's great to hear that she's back by your side now! 💜

My darling boy Mikey was lost for 6 weeks last summer. Ever since I got him back, he's been very clingy: he will go out alone for very short periods (5 or 10 minutes), but what he likes best is for me to go out _with_ him, and stand around like the proverbial "spare p at a wedding" while he sniffs about and chases pigeons for half an hour or so. I get a lot of funny looks, and am thinking of getting a hi-vis jacket with CATHERD printed on the back.

Taking in a cat is a big responsibility. One thing not mentioned is cats get bored. Their intense curiosity if left unchallenged becomes bad behavior.
Nobody likes being ignored. Cats show frustration by acting out. Cats need more than cuddling, they need to feel useful. I have seen this in my cats.

I'm in my 60's and have cats my entire life.
One thing is, there are exceptions to everything.
Right now we have 3 furballs. And one sits in the middle of the hall and will meow to get one to come play with it. And they may know where you are but are really good at completely ignoring you when they did something they shouldn't have. What, who me? I didn't do it, it fell off the shelf by itself!
For some reason my cats don't sem to care when I'm sick. Maybe just because it's too often now.
Great story about the cat I had in high school. I broke my toe and she wanted my tuna fish. I told her no and she stepped on my sore foot, with each of her feet, 4 times. It was so obvious she knew what she was doing. It was so funny.

cats wont always just get scared too if they sense youre scared. sometimes if its a thing theyre not scared of theyll do something about it. i remember i used to be really scared of palmetto bugs (big giant cockroaches you see in the American south) back when my cat was a kitten and i still remember this one time when one showed up in my house and freaked the heck out of me, i was scared to go into the room it had gone into and she came up and started meowing at me, urged me into the room and led me right to where she'd killed it. it was the sweetest thing anyone's ever done for me.

In med school I rented a room in the basement of a townhouse, and the owner had a cat that slept in their 3rd story bedroom. I got up early to study, and no matter how incredibly quiet I tried to be….the cat knew I was up and would want out of the owners bedroom to come see me a bit. We decided just to leave the owners door open a bit, so the cat could leave without meowing for the owner to open the door.

Last June I got diagnosed with a cancer and other than that I was feeling very unwell, the way my cats started to not let me out of their sight, they laid close to me and had to lightly touch me. It was their reaction to me that made me feel that I very well might have cancer. It was no surprise to me when my doctors told me. They definitely know when I'm about to travel. One more thing they know about me is that I get hyper vigilant when bad storms threaten. When I was a teenager, I lived very close to the town of Xenia, Ohio when it basically got destroyed by a massive tornado and ever since, when bad thunderstorms, hail, high winds, tornadoes are likely, I go on alert. I now live in Florida so I also am on guard when a hurricane threatens. I have a radio that picks up the National Weather forecasts and I keep it on during bad weather. They have come to know its not a good thing when the NWS sets off the screeching severe weather alert tones. I get anxious at that and the cats pick up on that, especially my lady cat.

They also know when you're awake. There are times when I've feigned sleep just to get another few minutes of complete rest, but cats' sense of hearing is so keen that they can detect the changes in your breathing patterns. I know my two cats can tell, because they rarely wake me up (intentionally) when I'm actually asleep. I'm a light sleeper, and I know I would feel those adorable little paw pats on my face. Instead I get them when I'm faking sleep, i.e., "It's breakfast time Mom!"

I had a stroke in early 2019. It was a struggle to maintain my balance, but being a cat Mom kept me moving. My husband was disappointed I was "disabled" & tried to be sympathetic, but to some extent he had to "up his game." It was like my personal balance control was out of whack. My cat rescue efforts with the neighborhood ferals in my yard was what kept me going. They became my beloved fur children. They were loved & they knew it. Their independence remained, but love, shelter & food made them feel at home. They chose to stay in my yard & make it their home. They came & went from the house. It made more work for me, but it was a labor of love. Yes, they were mischievous & naughty, but loved. I could not take them to the humane society to let them be permanently shut in until chosen. It was a good thing I did! There other problems with HS as was found out much later. Some of my precious kitties chose to leave & go their own way. Others died, I missed & mourned them. My beloved cats kept me going through it all.

my old black cat was an indoor/outdoor cat, he was really damn smart, there were days when i would go sleep at my dads house and he would wait under this particular truck at the same location every night. when id walk by hed come out from under meowing loudly and rubbing up against me and then follow me to my dads house. we would sit calmly on our front porch giving him love before we would go in and he walk up to our front door and run in when id open the door, usually right to the food bowl 😂. god i miss that cat so much

My 20 year old cat knows when I'm sorry for accidentally treading on her tail or paw, or tripping over her. Such a forgiving cat, soon as i crouch down and say sorry , she comes running to me for some pets

6:02 My wife came back home after spending six weeks traveling with me in my semi. As soon as she got settled into the bed, the cat (RIP Smokey) was nuzzling her lower abdomen and purring. At the time, unknown to her, she was about two weeks post-conception. Cats know very early on in the pregnancy.

My beautiful black silky cat is like my shadow. She follows me everywhere. Even to the bathroom, if I shut the door she will be waiting for me right outside of it. Her name is Idgie and is like my child. I live by myself in an apartment and love having her. My daughter tells me all the time that I spoil her. I say "well I spoiled all of you when you were little."

    4. Knows when you're angry
It knows when you're angry, and who you're angry at (if that person is present). If it realizes that you're angry at it, it will try to figure out why. If it manages to figure it out, it will try to avoid whatever it is, in the future. However, if you scare the cat, none of this will happen. Instead, it'll focus entirely on handling the immediate, frightening situation. Suppress the anger, and deploy the dirtiest, sneakiest, and most unfair tactic of all parents. Don't be angry, be disappointed. Devastatingly disappointed, gravely serious, and very calm. If possible, draw attention to the result of the cat's misbehavior, while maxing out your expression of disappointment. Then ignore the cat for 2 to 5 minutes; if it doesn't last too long, the cat will understand the connection. After that, just return to normal behavior, perhaps with a friendly word or a pet, but no more than would be part of normal routine. It may take a couple of incidents before the cat figures out _exactly_ what the issue is, but, as soon as it does, this technique works like a charm. Your cat is intelligent, and it likes it best when you're happy, so it'll make an intelligent effort to make you happy.

It sounds like your cat has quite the personality! 😸
Cats have their own unique ways of communicating with us, and it seems like your cat has found a clever method to get your attention! 😹 It's fascinating how intuitive they can be about our routines and habits!

I didn't pick my kitten. She picked me at the kennel by climbing on my shoulder and not letting go.
It's where she goes when she's scared, like when she is vaccinated or put under the anaesthesic. Or if she just wants to nozzle my cheek.
I had a bad case of stomach flu once. It lasted for a week. I was quite weak and desperate towards the end of it because it felt like the nausea would never stop.
My cat was so worried for me that she didn't leave my side. She followed me to the bedroom and bathroom -- back and forth every single time.
I didn't eat much that week as you can probably imagine. The crazy part is that neither did she. Her food was left untouched or she had just nibbled on it. This was unusual for her.
She was so worried for me that she lost her appetite, the poor thing 😢
Later, when my father had cancer, she was his therapy cat. He is the only person whose lap she climbs and sits on.
Not even mine. It's always the shoulder with me.
Other family members she kind of just tolerates. They don't have this bond.
