Hi Matt. I recently picked up my first guitar to learn how to play and make my worship a bit more than just singing along with others. I want to make it more personal and be more involved. I came across your channel and love it. Learning to play and learning praise and worship songs at the same time will make learning much more enjoyable. When i came across this video it really touched me. in 2006 my mom got diagnosed with burkitts lymphoma. a very aggressive cancer that was caught late. She, along with my father, got saved and baptized. Seven months and three days after her diagnosis, she left this life to be with the Lord. The night before was my last night with her. I borrowed my aunts mp3 player and played this song for her twice. She and everyone in the room were in tears the whole song. At 11 years old, this song was my way of telling her it was okay to let go. Ive been unable to listen to this song since. After I viewed this video I have decided this will be the first song I learn. I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me take what has always been a song full of bad memories and being able to turn it into something I can look at as her being with God and feeling no more pain instead of her leaving me and my brother here to grow up motherless. I cannot thank you enough for that.
My opinion for a beginner I really think you are the best teachering this song. Lately watching practically all your videos I have learned so much. Thank you for all you do and keeping God as your center on this channel. ❤

Glad to see you doing this without a pick. I do not like using a pick. Which is why my 2nd and 3rd fingernail on my picking hand stays worn down to nothing. Started using artificial nails on those two fingers after seeing James Taylor uses artificial nails. He refers to them as his bionic nails.

This is a lovely song and only 3 chords just what a beginner needs lol. I really like how you strum as if you are holding a pick but when I try this it sounds a bit rough. I just can't hold a pic it ends up turning round if I hold it tighter I tend to nearly brake strings lol. So are you strumming with thumb and first finger or are you using other fingers as well on down strokes.

Teaching this song is a nice thing to do. You seem like a really good person with a great love for the Lord. However, I found that the root note of the song is Em (major), then A with an open B and high E string, then keep your fingers on only the D and G strings like you did on the A and slide up 2 frets into B with open B and high E strings, then back to A with open B and E. Basically the B string and high E string are open on all chords except when you play the C#m7 at the end. It uses those three chords as explained throughout the entire song changing directions only on the Bridge. Then at the very end after several repeats of the Chorus it goes to the C#m7, then back to A then B then Em as explained and let it softly ring out a little and that's it ...I learned the song directly from the CD. Try it and let me know what you think.
