Good for you all guys in the US for these awesome boots. For us living in Europe ( me in Italy ) US brands boots have prohibitive costs due to the shippement costs and above all for duties costs on charge.
This is an excellent, informative review. Thanks for taking the time particularly for telling us your experience and your preferences. (I don't share all of your preferences but I so much appreciate hearing why you like what you do. This is also helpful in making choices.) Please do a follow up, especially when you've given them some harder wear. Curious about this leather too.
you really do a good job explaining all the subtle details of these boots vs other models. I'm learning a lot. Details matter, like your commentary on heel height and how it could look silly depending on circumstances.
Enjoy those new Semi Dress boots. They look great. Nice find! My 1st pair of White’s are an eBay find pair of Semi Dress in the dress brown leather w/ a cap toe in a C width. I love the 55 last and also the 11067 just like you. That dress brown is almost black in color for sure.
Ya I’m certain this box is not for this boot. Maybe the seller threw out original box or accidentally put boots in wrong box. Since I dont care about the box other than for storage I’m good with it. I’m pretty certain these are Brown Chromexcel. Cheers to the ebay scores!!!
Relasting is I think when you completely deconstruct the shoe and then you form the uppers all over again to a new last or the same if you want to make it slightly bigger or smaller.
pretty sure its a legit V bar.. its just that you have the half sole.. so the part that says Vibram isn't there.. Even with full Vibram soles, they use the Quabaug heel.., so don't let that throw you off
Yeah for someone making $700 plut boots. This is when you outsource all your packaging. Even get a UPS franchise and have a whole internal shipping team to make sure everything is bubble wrapped. At scale this doesnt cost money, especially when you are owned by a Japanese conglomerate. Thats the exact reason you get bought by a larger company to take advantage of scale... The VP who oversees Whites just needs to put the foot down and say they are investing in better shipping.
Ya it is so simple to ensure the boots arrive as built, and not scratched up. Nicks uses thicker paper, which seems to help. Viberg goes all out putting the boots in both plastic bags as well as boot dust bags. Whites needs to get their $hit together.
Just curious as to how these are doing 6 months later? I ordered a pair myself, albeit with different leather and an added cap toe. If I end up liking them I can see myself getting the brown chrome excel like yours. Beautiful boots! Any info as to how you like them and how they are getting their patina would be appreciated. Thanks!
They are holding up well. However with so many boots their patina is limited. The CXL leather is also very durable, with a “heeling” ability. So scruffs disappear with the rub of a finger and/or horsehair brushing. I will wear them tomorrow and post a pic on my community feed.

Ya I’ve heard Red Wing is extremely expensive in Europe.
Not only Red Wing, everything! Your Semi-dress White's here would be shipped for a total cost of 985 euros! Euros not dollars. Absurd !

Tax duties plus charges will still have to be paid on goods exported from the UK into Italy.

Thanks man! Did you buy any Whites yet? They may not have the fit and finish that Nicks have, but they are still a great boot.

Thanks for the video!! Will the arch support be hard to get used to? I normally wear sneakers.

These are a stitch-down construction. Not Goodyear welt.
