Well I find that Nick was in love with Gatsby and maybe he was even gay or at least bisexual. But seeing as he wasnt really charmed by Daisy or Jordan I think he was gay. And Gatsby was his love.
You have no idea what Fitzgerald was about or meant. The Great Gatsby is one of the finest novels ever written. Gatsby is not about a psychologically or physically thwarted person. It is about a lost soul. It is about the sinews of humans clawing for a world they never had, nor are ever meant to be. It is an epic poem about death.
+Michael Urena As was basically everyone. Less than 10 people attended his funeral, and almost hundreds of people attended his parties without even being invited...
+Michael Urena That film/book is the mirrow of our community nowdays. As long they can make profit out of you they will stay at your side... When hard times come they will leave... Choose your friends carefully and take care of the good ones like they are diamonds...
"Gatsby believed in the green light ... The orgastic future that year by year receeds before us It eluded us then, but that is no matter, Tomorrow we will run faster, stretch our arms father, and one fine morning... So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past"
@@itzterx2339 Literally that life moves on. Gatsby died and Nick could not move on like the others up to the point hat he is in a mental hospital. This quote is him realizing that life always prevails over the dead.
@@troymcneal7371 Not quite. More like: Gatsby had an American dream, which is that he could work hard and get somewhere. It's a dream he never gave up on, even when it went wrong in every possible way, even when his roots pulled him back down, even when it killed him. "So we beat on, boats against the current" means all Americans are perpetually fighting for better even as the current pushes against us, even as the past defines us, still we hope. Even as the American dream exceeds our grasp, that just means we fight harder and reach farther. It's incredibly poignant and as real now as a hundred years ago; it's one of the most classic passages in American literature for a reason.
@@itzterx2339, for me the green light symbolizes the Source (and the Universal principles that is made of/us). To understand that green symbolism you can study alchemy and watch the movie Green Knight (2021) that connects the same idea through the form of the Nature Spirit. One of those Universal principles is Love which is again one of the main (visible to the audience) topics of the movies. Thus it is easier for the viewers to understand what and why Gatsby eagerly wanted to show Daisy the 'green light' (the real love). There is a scene in the movie where that did not happen and if you know that symbolism, you would have foreseen the tragic end. The anti-clockwise dancing of Daisy is another hint. You will see this motive in Green Knight and other movies. Ponder on the meaning of it. :) When you extrapolate the beautiful keys that Fitzgerald (un)consciously gave here (beyond the American Dream and the description of his own biographical experience), you would see the reasons for the never ending samsara (the rebirth cycle) - the attachments to the past and the inability to connect with 'your' Source and be the embodiment of the Universals will make the cycle look like a cunning trap and/or endless suffering/losing... :)
The fact that Gatsby’s last word was “Daisy” as he tried reaching for the green light. It’s truly very sad that he loved someone so much that he’d do anything for her. She used him and stabbed him in the back and just spat on his grave by not attending his funeral and just leaving with the man who doesn’t care about her. She really is a beautiful fool who is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
The only genuine person who cared for him and sincerely understood him was Nick. Truly this theme song gives such a tragic vibe, because the one he loved never called or came to seem him. He died believing she had called him but it was Nick.. This movie is one of my top favorites..and oh never failed to make me cry even to this day.
“I’m glad it’s a daughter, and i hope she becomes a fool, a beautiful fool. That’s the best a woman can be.” Some of the writing in this movie is absolutely breathe taking. You can take it in so many different ways
It's not only directly from Fitzgerald's book, it's actually a line dreamed up by his writer wife Zelda who is equally amazing with words. You guys should read both F Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald's novels - all of the great writing from this film is a constant in their work.
@@sleepingdogpro I was going to type it, but you already typed it. Sadly....there arent many of us with good hearts anymore .people with good hearts forget how good we can be when someone we truly love breaks us completely then we become empty hearted and almost cant have a good heart anymore as much as we would like to show the world how fiercly we can love. We just were meant to just love the idea of love from afar ....
I thought the same thing too.... I have met many ppl who are an imitation of Daisy and Tom. Some of my friends were like that. It has been so much time since I had that kind of ppl around me, but I always remember how awful they could be.
Incredible. Simply amazing. I can not get enough of this soundtrack. I have to listen to it every so often just to feel right. Everything feels right again after I listen to the songs played here. I mean this Movie clearly points out, what we so often forget: Money and big partys aren‘t everything.. And also it is so sad, that everybody who came to his Party said things about him, that weren‘t even true and his real Dream was so beautiful and Full of Love...🌹

The music is great to hear although the story of the film had a sad ending. This is the sort of music that makes one remember so many dreams one had when young that came to nothing. But I cannot complain really as I succeeded through not in the way I fantasized when I was young.

Sai Tadikonda To quote Fitzgerald, Gatsby turned out all right in the end. He was good at heart, but not necessarily in his actions.
Nick was too gay to Gatsby so it kinda doesn't count
