Covers aren't meant to sound exactly like the original. Otherwise there would be no point in making a fucking cover. This version is awesome in its own way as is the original.
I really don't understand why anybody is mad at this, nobody is trying to "Replace" Amy Winehouse. It's a cover for a movie...that's it. To be honest it's pretty good, the arrangement makes it sultry and it goes with the movie well. Bey's voice is haunting. If you honestly think this is "horrible", you honestly don't know good music.
If Amy Winehouse was still around I bet the movie will still go to her to do a remix version of this song. But she was gone for 2 years already then......
King KeVante' who cant like beyonce, that not the point they took the song remixed and not even got full permission before putting it out there.thats what so wrong.beyonce woul sound amazing singing anything
It gives more dimension with this type of music yk if it was pop it wouldn’t be as good but since they put the r&b, slow, type is whet made it sm better
This is a wonderful cover imho. Andre 3000's vocal dexterity is otherworldly, is there anything he can't do? Beyonce has a great voice tbh but we would be saying this if she wasn't so mainstream - now she's 'Queen B' so people gotta hate on her.
If anyone has seen the move The Great Gatsby, you'd understand how much this "version" of the song correlates with the scene. I still love Amy Winehouse. The only album I've ever bought.
This song may be a remake, but it by no means disrespects Amy's version. It may not be your taste, but hey that's fine. Just don't get mad at someone for doing a deed that is continuously done in the music industry and creating a new version of a song. Also, this version was made for a different reason, to have a different effect on the listener, whilst aiming to maintain the original essence of Amy's version. It was made for the Great Gatsby film. *Here's why it was used:* The recent Great Gatsby is basically a modern version of the book. Baz Luhrmann (the director) used modern music so that we understand what it was like for the people in the 20s. Back then, Jazz was original. The new music. It was extremely popular. By using this kind of music, Luhrmann is giving us perspective. This kind of music is popular now. It's original. He used this kind of music for the same reasons he cast an Indian guy for the part of Wolfsheim, an evidently stereotypical Jewish guy. Whilst Jews were discriminated and stereotyped in the 1920s, they are not anymore. Today, since 9/11, Americans are more racist towards people who seem like Muslims than they are with Jews. (btw the film is American and aimed at Americans). By casting an Indian, we can kind of know what people in the 1920s would have been like, because of our own reactions. What I'm trying to say is that yes, Luhrmann could have used the original version, but by creating this remake he is giving us a new perspective to a great song. And if you've watched the film, you'll find it fits right in.
it's funny, because Andre is playing the guy who Amy was singing about . like when he says: I go back to her, and you go back to black. instead of: you go back to her and I go back to black
I think this song and crazy in love (from the same soundtrack) did a great job at not making them sound like covers or remakes. They made it sound like their own song while curating it perfectly for the movie.
All yall ppl sayin remove andre 3 thou. That man was possibly one of the greatest rappers ever. If yall insult the vocals, just listen to them for a sec and actually get the meaning
I read it’s on Tidal. What Beyonce and JayZ own. So if anything, greed. Copyright claim. Etc. Given it’s a cover, and not her own song, or Andre’s, it definitely should be on other platforms. Cos it’s Winehouse song. Give respect to the dead, yknow? But the carters don’t care. We’re talking about a mother who sued a business for having “blue ivy” as their biz name before the girl was ever born / conceived
I love A3000's part! He has such an understanding of the depth and contemplative delivery of Winehouse; it is more than admiration. My love to you, Mr. A3. And, Amy, a tear for you, my dear, your talent is sorely missed.
I never understand why some people try to talk down on this cover. It's like we have to compare everything or make competition of everything. I enjoy this version as well as Amy Winehouse's version. Good music is good music so why not enjoy?
@olczaa get over yourself. just because it's not your taste ,doesnt mean it's not music You may like the original version others may prefer this cover why can't we just appreciate the song it's self
@olczaa Beyoncé is legend status, she isn't a 'product of the industry', otherwise she would care about reaching number 1 on the charts - which is clear she doesn't anymore by her lack of promotion and even saying it herself in interviews. This is why she continues to make music but now for a different audience and a deeper purpose, as shown by her recent albums which are dedicated to the struggle of african-americans. Listen to her song 'brown skin girl' and tell me whether that sounds like a song made solely for the purpose of money? And she can do more than just sing - her vocals are once of the best technically in the pop industry, not to mention she can dance well at the same time, a feat only comparable to singers such as Michael Jackson. People love to underestimate Beyoncé, but if she were dead, everyone would be crying at her grave.
@olczaa And also as shown by all this, she certainly has a say in what she puts out :) Notice all the people she herself has sued for using it without her permission.
boynatey44 it fit the movie perfectly. Some people I guess just aren't open to new versions. It's awesome to see how different artists take their own spin on a piece.
Let me tell yall how I had a whole experience with this song back in 2013. Literally felt something come over me. Idk what’s in this song but baby don’t play with it.
It makes me happy to see, most of the people here, still supporting Amy, she was a wonderful person, and I only started really supporting here, after her demise. But I feel people are getting really emotional over this song. Amy was the creator of the song, if there was no Amy version to it, there wouldn't be any version of it. They have just done a beats version off of it, and I have to say, these are some dirty catchy beats. But yes, it is a good version, uncomparably to the original version.
You guys really think Amy would care about all of yall defending her saying this is garbage and not music and how they ruined the song? I think all artist have a common passion and it's music. Both songs are great they took her song and brought it to my generation. I personally wasn't a fan of Amy I enjoy more upbeat songs but I think Beyoncé did a good job carrying over Amy's distress and stress and strength to overcome. Both good songs not saying ones better than the other but let's get back to what the artists really want. For us to enjoy the music and the vibes and stories that come out of it.
Man.... this did not get the recognition it needed! From Amy’s memory.. the beat... the vocal play... jazzy feel. Eerie vibes! Bass... 808s .... yeah this remake is a playground! So much fun.
Can't beleieve I've only just discovered this! I adore Amy of course but this version is also amazing they made the song their own. Going to checkout the whole soundtrack now LOVE
I dont think anyone appreciates how they modernised this song! They took an already amazing original song and just updated it! (and they only did it for a movie its not like you hear this on the radio or anything!) Im mean the original will always be my favorite version of this song but I do like how they re-styled this song and changed it up for a movie set in the 20's while still making the sound relatable to our modern music style
Love this version. I wish people would realize this was made for The Great Gatsby and NOT an Amy Winehouse tribute CD. This version fit the movie perfectly.
Perfect melody to a perfect storyline. Shall we...dive into the inexplicable pool of life. “I was within and without...simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.”
Lmao people are so butthurt for no reason. Obviously the original is better, but this one ain't bad either. Beyoncé was hardly trying in this version, but she sang it a way that fit the mood for the movie's soundtrack, which was her job. Her and André sounded flawless together. Stop acting as if Beyoncé was trying to somehow steal this song; it wasn't even a single nor was she showing 1/10 of her vocal ability. Stfu.
+JOLUS FAP Herrera it's their way not Amy's now stfu and enjoy this great piece also it just fits perfectly in the movie if you had some doubt about it
I think both versions are fantastic in different ways. I heard this one first, so that might be why I like it so much. But I see it as different songs with the same lyrics, not just one being a better/worse version of the other.
I think people are upset for this version of song because of the heart break that lies behind the original song by the amazing Amy winehouse. Her last performance was indeed heart ailing when she performed this and then we see Bey sing it and the reaction is how dare she. In which is natural because of the love fans have for Amy’s gift. No one could ever forget Mrs Winehouse even if they tried she’s a gem!
nah 3 stacks and Bey made a good song way back, so it was nice to see them work together again for this. interesting combo though yeah. “Party” is a legendary song, probably one of my favorite if not my favorite period, Beyoncé songs. Andre 3k always Fire too.

Amen...they made it thier own. I like it..but love Amy Winehouses version
cosign 10000% all these people coming for beyoncé and andre 3000 ans saying they ruined the song obviously don't understand the meaning of a cover
Always thought this version was way better hot take or not idc, that beat drop hits a nerve that Amy’s style could not. Respectfully
